I didn't try the nano chimney on the ErlK clone that I got but do know that the authentic full size chimney did NOT fit on the clone.
Wasn't it the other way around i. e. The authentic did fit the clone base but the clone chimney didn't fit the authentic base?

:) I only remembered because I thought about buying a clone to use the top cap mechanism which has the lock (the erlprinz hasn't) but after reading about those not so perfect fits and wandering o-rings, I rather don't waste my money. The erlprinz top tightens down perfectly allowing vacuum to build up

Finally nailed the build - On the third try  It was a magical moment as I watched the wick shoulders take shape and how the light, wispy cotton tails embraced the juice channels :hubba: OMG what a nice vape, no mess, no dry hits... Now I want a real one. I don't trust this clone much - Some tips for others... I juiced (lightly) the fill o-rings and the driptip connector plate to get a better seal. This seemed to help. Also, I filled her up 75%/80% not 5% lol... might have been an issue.

Glad to hear you got it working. It truly is a fine vape when built properly.

Personally, I felt it was money well spent on my authentics. They're the only tanks I use.

Yeah, the vape is pretty amazing, it’s just hard to describe how it enhances flavor... just amazing! My only issue is I’m terrified it’s going to leak (the clone) so Peter at Erlkoenigin responded to my email and said the new Erlprinz should be available to order in 10 days!!!

And I'm sure it will be well worth the wait.

I wasn't so lucky with my attempts last night lol. I got it to work for a while, and while it was working it was absolutely phenomenal. But when I let it sit unused for a half hour, I guess it just kept wicking and wicking until it flooded and started pouring out the bottom.

Theres gotta be something wrong with my clone sealing the top. I didn't try filing down the drip tip yet, because I thought it was sealing enough last night. I even tried a practice build with water first, and no leaking at all. So there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my wicking I think. Does the Erl normally flood and leak like crazy if the top fill ports are opened?

1. Filing down the drip tip? What? :/

2. Open holes on top isn't 100% certainty that it will leak (my didn't for two minutes) but it's something that most likely will happen if you give it enough time. It's physics at work... The pressure will try to balance between the tank and the inside of the chimney so unless the top is closed, the liquid will try force itself inside the chamber. A sealed top is a must.

His drip tip when fully screwed down still allows the top cap to rotate.
One potential solution is file the bottom of the tip a little so it will snug that cap down properly.

Quite honestly, I'd say that your shoulders are not big enough. They act as a buffer and help keep it from flooding, especially once it is closed up.

The following diagram shows this best imo. Then again, as explained by Cloud Hunter below, too much might also be a problem as well.

There's a trick for keeping the Erli's performance till she's nearly dry. In the picture below I marked the important buid details and you'll see why:

MkT6IUPnvB.jpg

With the above method, you won't need to thicken your wick inside the channel. Lay the "buffer-wick" (which runs through the coil) on top of the channels openings inside the dome and try to find the optimal size for it in a way, that the lateral side of the buffer-wick also touches the inside wall of the dome (see red markings). There you have your "sealing"! OK, it doesn't seal the Erli for all times, but it gives you way much more time before too much liquid enters the dome. If you have too much of this buffer-wick you will fail because when screwing down the dome, you would cause an offset (due to friction) of the buffer-wick and that results in "opening" the juice channels again. That's the whole trick. OMG. I hope you can follow my explanation....sorry if that doesn't make sense^^ English isn't my mother language.

Cheers,
C H

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention, that with this setup you won't have to close the AFC while refilling! You have enough time to refill before the Erli gets flooded ;-)

Filing down the drip tip, not filling lol. Not sure if thats what you meant. Because my drip tip doesn't seem to tighten far enough to prevent the top cap from spinning entirely, I can still push it open. Someone earlier suggested that might have been the problem, if its not sealing screwing down far enough. It tightens enough to prevent it from spinning on its own, but with a little force I can get it open. So I was hoping it would have been enough to seal properly. It didn't leak from the top at least, I held it upside down and on its side and no liquid came out. Its only coming out from the bottom chamber.

Heres a pic of my build after it flooded last night, maybe I'm doing something wrong.
