If you put insane amounts of wick in the shoulders you don't need fibers in the channels and the same goes the other way around... Balance is the key

Listen to this man fellas. This is what it's all about.

How does it go Tony? See the rayon. Feel the rayon. Be the rayon? Or something like that. ;)

Let the madness begin.....

First impression, take into account that I've bought a ton of attys as clones trying to find what works best for me before I drop a bunch of cash on one. Out of all the attys I've bought, this is by far the best built yet, everything is nice and tight, the threads are smooth, shockingly smooth for a clone. Here are a few pics, then I'm off to follow Qs directions and coil and wick this thing...... wish me luck. LOL

In the package it came in.

Build took me a while, like Tony said, feel like a barber. LOL..... trimming like crazy, but found the right combo. Had a slight leak, then turned it upside down, tightened the afc, flipped it back over loosened the afc.... working like a charm. Gotta take a break for a minute, nic buzz in a big way. LOL.

I like it.

Do the glass tanks from ibtanked fit the clones? ibtanked says 22mm external diameter, I thought it should be 21?

and is ibtanked the only place for the glass tanks? its the only one I remember reading in the authentic erl thread...which I stopped reading a while ago, I got too far behind and gave up trying to play catch up :(

The IBTanked glass is thicker I believe, fits the authentic fine just has a larger OD.
If the tanks are swappable between the auth and clone, the IBTanked glass will fit.
I haven't found anywhere else yet that does Erl tanks.

My clone tank measures 38.94mm so the IBTanked glass (39mm) should work fine.

The phrase isn't mine although I use it all the time now. I refered to rayon as being a spectrometer in terms of taste but yes, I love that phrase... "be the rayon"... thats just awesome :D

Yeah, it has its nuances but once learned, nothing beats it in my book.

I just re-wicked too but the 3rd time. The 2nd wick was still good and the coil was pretty clean after 2 tanks. Getting the wick out almost destroyed the coil though. I noticed the coil was sitting a low so I raised it a bit. It's better but still feel like it's slightly wet but clearing out, I think. I felt like a barber trimming the wick  I did the patented pinch method before installing the chimney.

I have one incoming from FC but I'm not too optimistic about it. They have it for $13.90 now. I think I paid about $19. It should be here by next Tues or Wed. If I had to order one now, I'd get the FT $20 version in the silver box.
The one From Angelecigs is the silver box one like FT. It's terrific. Comes to about $20 bucks with shipping. Took about 4 days to get to me

Ok, so the honeymoon might be over for me.

It's still stand by my original statement that it's a very well made clone but this "wet" vape and occasional popping is getting on my last nerve. It seems to ease up as the juice goes down below 1/2 tank and I'm guessing there's too much juice delivery. I tried at 20w and still get popping, actually worse. Once I finish off this tank, I'll try removing the wick ring so the chimney sits a bit lower to see if that helps. I tried my Kayfun after 3 days and it's so much better and quieter than the ErlK clone.

Well as of today my Erl clone isnt doing so great either. I did a dry burn last night and re-wicked it which worked wonderfully until around half-way through my work day when every know and again Im getting an off flavor hit, it dont really taste burnt or dry just dont taste too good. It will have this off flavor for a few hits then it goes back to tasting great, Im not hitting it any harder or longer and it was almost full of juice.

Im going to keep vaping on it until its out of juice then tear it completely down, rebuild it an try it one more time. If it doesnt give me consistent results after that then Ill guess Ill just go back to my KF full time.

^^^How is this one going? My second(current) build looks very similar but I have a bit more rayon all the way down the juice channels, not great for me but vapable. I think I actually have a little too much wick tail in the bottom of the channels but I swear by looking at it it seems like it would vape perfectly.

I think it's working. So that 1mm of rise of the chimney from the wick ring made it almost flood all the time causing the "wet" feel and occasional pop. It's smooth now. Just removed the wick ring and no other changes. I filled 3/4 of the tank (the rest of the juice I had) and it's looking good. The honeymoon might not be over after all. :D

Has anyone bought this clone from focalecig.com? Does it only come with the SS tank or does it come with the plastic and SS tank? Pictures show both, description shows just the SS tank. Thanks.

$25.55 1:1 Erlkonigin Style 8ml Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - Grey

I ordered the first version they had but it won't be here until sometime next week. The one you posted looks like it comes with both plastic and metal tanks as well as 3 drip tips (2 plastic, 1 metal). The description states 1 atomizer (built). The 2nd to last pic shows everything you'll get. I might have to return the one that's coming for this version.

Not sure if you guys have been following the authentic Erlkonigin thread but the easiest way that I have found that performs just fine for me is similar to the following posted by qorax...

Wicking Tips: Erlkönigin Simple Build Closeups
(for an Easy, No nonsense, No leaks, Noob-proof setup)

    1. Trim the Wick CORRECTLY:
    dggyz6.jpg

    3. Get the Wick Tails CONTAINED:

    4. Juiced up but maintain POSITION:

No muss, no fuss with the tails. Just a simple cut. Original full descritive post here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...83-erlkoenigin-pictorial-67.html#post14288234

That's how I did mine except I tucked the tails down rather than leave them up. And it looks like he's not using the wick ring.

No idea if Qorax does the same as me, but I put the juice ring on after rewicking.
That way if I struggle to get it on, I know the wick is too long. lol

KTMRider: If, and I say if, you end up with any troubles on that build, just try thinning the wick you have down the channels a bit.
No idea what pg/vg ratio juice you use, but I vape anything from 50/50 to 70/30 with barely any cotton there. And I just can't dry hit it chain-vaping before the head spins start. :D

My problem is that the wicks are working too well and too much juice is getting in. I can chain vape 15-20 long pulls and no dry hits. It does get better at the end of those pulls. I'm thinking I need MORE wick in the channels.
