Erlkonigin and Clone Comparison

Pretty disappointing for those who want a nano kit :(

For what it's worth...
  • I ordered the chimney/tank kit first
  • A few days later I ordered two chimneys
  • I got a refund for the two chimneys (no mention of the kit)
  • I noticed they removed the individual chimneys from their on-line ad (still showing the glass tank and the chimney/tank kit)
  • I ordered two more of the chimney/tank kits
  • It's possible that the individual chimneys are N/A, but there is still a glimmer of hope for the "kits"
Keep ya posted

Update - I just looked at their site and the quantity available for the kit has dropped from 98 (when I first discovered it) to 92. There appears to be some traffic on the item.

I do have both the authentic and a clone. I had two clones, but gave one to a friend. I agree the reviewers weren't helpful. Of course they shouldn't review something until they learn how to build it well.

I have the "silver-boxed, 1:1" clone. It's been amazing since I learned how to build it. I like to completely disassemble and clean my attys when I recoil them. The Erlk is easy. I sold my Tobeco K4. It vaped great but no better than the Erlk. It had soooo many parts and was completely over-engineered. The Erlk is actually quite simple in it's engineering. I'd love to get Erlk's WITH GOOD BUILDS into the hands of vapers. I think I could convert them.

I'm still hoping for a v2 Erlkonigin with redesigned AFC. I've seen the FT v2s & v3s. They're much bigger and I haven't heard much good about them.

Really????

Well, I got my nano to work, finally. Maybe that little o-ring needed to be repositioned and lubed, or maybe I rebuilt it a bit chunkier, but no more wet foot.

That said, I still prefer my K4... Waiting for my Taifun from FT--I just got the base, the acrylic bell cap and the nano tube. If it's good, my Lemo Drop and at least one of my Erlks will probably end up in the classies...

Funny how we're all different.

Yea, the AFC ring is a fiddly annoyance - the reason I removed it from all of mine.
Like I've mentioned, rotating the 510 post 90 degrees decreases the airflow/increases the flavor to the point it's perfect for me, so really no need for AFC.
I wouldn't want to add to the size and weight with the FT V2/V3.

Well, I got my nano to work
So glad!
And super-psyched you finally got around to trying them both! :p
You may find the K4 more trouble down the road. #16 o-ring, #9 screw are two things to watch for.
And you might try the full-size Erl.
There's a reason I've got 4 of them, and my K4 hasn't been used in over a month.... but maybe that's just me. :D

:) You're so nice!

Knock on wood. I've heard about those. We'll cross that bridge... ATM, for some weird reason, my K4 is the atty I reach for first. I love this thing--I have it set up in the simplest configuration, the PC tank, and I absolutely love it. Refilling is a breeze, wicking is easy, and the performance is spotless. Soft, lukewarm, moist vapor--can't get enough of it.

And you might try the full-size Erl.

I thought about it, but, honestly, it's just too fiddly for me. I don't have the patience for trimming that wick just right, I don't like the noise it makes, and I'm always worried that it will start leaking on me again. And honestly, I get better flavor and vapor production out of my GS Air tanks. So for now my nanos get shelved. Life is too short.

There's a reason I've got 4 of them, and my K4 hasn't been used in over a month.... but maybe that's just me.

Just a heads up I accidentally discovered with my erlprinz but it should apply to the erlkonigin and clones alike

Although the atty has built-in air slots, it makes a significant difference in air draw tightness if the atty is mounted on a sloted 510 connector. If you think your draw is restricted even with the air flow nut removed, it might be worth swapping devices.

I found this after changing from a flat to a sloted connector

Last night my package arrived with my first Erlk from Fasttech. This is the 4ml version with the external AFC. It arrived amazingly clean and beautifully machined. I've been in manufacturing my whole life and was a machinist the first dozen or so years. It's actually a little dis-heartening when you think that they can manufacture, assemble, and ship the thing half way around the world for nine dollars (and probably two entities is the supply chain made money).

The one I received was a gem. Other than polishing a few sharp edges, it cleaned up and went together great. The AFC is smooth and has an internal o-ring to keep it in position. I installed a 1.3Ω coil and wicked it heavy in the "shoulders" and light on the "tails". Someone was watching over me because the build went without incident (leaking) and I'm almost through my first tank.

The draw with all four holes exposed is very similar to my Kayfun and suits me very well. The flavor is very good although my KFL and Drop are a little better. I'm VERY encouraged and am looking forward to learning this beast a little better.

The Nano kits I ordered didn't pan out and I am evaluating my options. I think I can machine the existing chimney to accept a shorter tank. Keep ya posted...

Here's a pic of the new member of the family and his stablemates.

I bought the same one. I'm wondering if it's possible to remove the afc ring so I can slot the air holes?

Been prowling through this thread and the pictorial one on the Erlkonigin for the last week or so and just placed an order for the wotofo clone. I hope it's a good one!

Where did you order from? What price? I've gotten two from Fasttech. The most expensive one they sell. It's $20 but it's really good compared to the others I've tried that were much cheaper from angel cigs. But hey $5 compared to $20. The $5 ones give me random issues on my temp protected sharks. The Fasttech ones work perfectly. Also the angel cigs ones aren't machined any where near as well. But again $5 compared $20.

Oh and the Fasttech ones also came with the drip tip adaptor and a spare metal tank. Though both required a really good cleaning. I actually like the better ones enough that I'm going to order a Erlprinz to show some support for the original company.

The reviews for the FT ones seemed so mixed--some people had great clones, others ones that weren't so great, and I didn't want to end up ordering more than one from there trying to scavenge a bad one for parts. (I'm not up for having to do too much sanding/drilling/frankensteining--I'm a little challenged in this area.) I'm hoping the wotofo one is straight-up hassle free, but if not, I'll be disappointed at spending the extra $ to get it. I ordered from vape95 last week for $35 but haven't received it yet. Hoping to have it by tomorrow!

I have 4 erlkonigens and a erlprintz. 1 green box from FT and a mini clone they used to sell., a genuine Erlkonigen and a genuine Erlprintz. The genuine Erlprintz is the best for overall price and quality hands down.

100% agree although the erlkonigin guys also despise the erlprinz even if it's 'family'.

Are you surprised? :D

I like the clone threads here better because there are more nice people.
