EU hardware now inferior to US

I remember reading a post here recently about some vaping regulations that were going to be happening in the EU.

It seems like it has already come to pass, because I was taking a look at some new hardware last night, made by various companies, and much of the new hardware coming out all had something in common.

The EU version is inferior to the US version.

For example, I was looking at a new Kangertech mod, and the US version comes with a 4 ml tank, while the EU version comes with a 2 ml tank. That's a pretty significant difference I'd say. It was the same story with other brands too.

I wonder if US hardware is going to fetch a premium price, and if some EU people are going to get blackmarket US tanks or hardware?

I'm traveling to Europe this summer, and I'll be visiting a country where E-juice is actually illegal to sell!

You can bet that I will be bringing a whole bunch of juice and supplies for myself to use in that ridiculous country. These regulations are beginning to get quite idiotic, and I hope that vapers everywhere are doing whatever they need to do to keep vaping how they see fit, regardless of what the law or any regulations say.

US made gear has always fetched a premium price. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't agree that tank size makes a product, in any way, inferior. I usually buy stubby kits for any tank when they're available. I prefer the shorter look.

I wouldn't say the products sold in EU countries are inferior, but their TPD ruling is now in effect...one of those restrictions are for tank size, not to hold any more than 2 ml, which is unfortunate. Also juice can only be sold in 10ml bottles. You can buy as many bottles as you want tho. Think the TPD restrictions are to keep things small, pen sized, no large tanks or large amounts of liquid....guess "hardcore" hobbyist vapers are frowned on. Lets keep things small and unobtrusive. What country are you traveling to? Finland has it really bad, no nicotine liquid to be sold at all, not even importing online from outside the country.

I'm going a few different places, but the one place where I will be going where it is illegal to sell e-liquid (with nicotine) is Norway. I know that in Sweden, which is right next door, ejuice (with nic) is legal to sell.

The good news for them is that I believe that it will become legal in 2018 in Norway to sell ejuice with nicotine, but that doesn't help anybody at the moment of course. I have some friends in Norway, and some are vapers, and they all currently travel to Sweden to buy their ejuice.

So while others are moving to tighten things up, Norway, which already bans the sale of e-liquids, will now start to allow its sale in 2018?

For many of those 2 ml tanks being sold, they have extension sets to increase volume, so a manufacturer can release a TPD compliant 2 ml tank, and offer the extension sets included in either in non-EU packaging, or as an optional purchase.

I think that the regs are aimed at shops/outlets in UK, not for individuals buying from abroad.
They are also about the tax revenue.

So those that want will still be able to get what they want, just via roundabout means.
I imagine that new devices will have a two ml tank, but the spares available will include a bigger tanks and chimney.

Customs aren't going to have the time to check shipping containers for each and every order from fasttech.
Local weights and measures will be checking the small shops and nailing their hats on for the slightest of crossing the line.

Raise the tax, dump on the little man... so it's business as usual in UK.

Just my 5 cents: the tpd has to be transposed in each country with an internal law.

The limitations regarding the capacity of the tanks are not enforced by each country equally.

So far, I know that uk will enforce that limit of 2ml for the tanks which is stricter than the tpd itself.

In Italy, for example, the limitations in capacity regard only eliquid bottles (10ml) and prefilled tanks (2ml) but there are no capacity limitations for the tanks !

People were happy with the intro of the Nautilus x2 last month over here in the United States. I guess we can TPD ourselves.?

The Nauti X sort of set up what I expected would be Aspire's long term approach to regulations. Standard 2 ml with a separate 4 ml extension. Not really sure why they didn't take a similar approach to such a popular successor in their Nauti line with the Nauti 2.

Im in UK so we have the strict laws but honestly ,
I don't think they can enforce them without more time money and man power ,

Which is totally against UK government infrastructure to do so. To police an impossible task
Yes they will crack down on some
They want more work. For less money ,with less workers to do so ,( impossible )
So i expect to carry on importing what i want need for a while Yet, [emoji6]

Not as if any illegal stuff cant be found easy Enough if so wanted. They cant even manage that.
And where an island that's total capable of locking it down if they really wanted too,

Ah yes the reality of things is much different from what is written in the law :) I was just pointing out which is the legislation like in EU !

For example we are not supposed to be able to purchase hardware or eliquids from other EU countries unless the shops have a physical presence in Italy ( or better, we will be able to purchase but the other countries are not allowed to sell -legislation is weird-)... but is gonna be hard to enforce that!

I noticed some U.K. Shops are not allowing shipments in Italy but there are many shops :D they cannot control them all - the chance is shops will be fined if found to be breaking the law but... well, we'll see and hope for the best!-

Well the UK leaving EU
Will have a bigger impact , at the moment any china order or EU order can ship through EU and slip by with no import taxes where as fron USA big Taxes , This will effect china orders when we leave so another reason stock up now ,
Our Taxman is always onto a winner on everything. This will become more a problem since most china Orders dont declare that its vaping products usually gift Toys, Gardening, tools metal parts ect , listed on custom forms on nearly all my Orders ,
Im currently awaiting several RTA,s RDA,s to arrive , So will see if they get stopped or not from now , Ive got all i need now , so I be ok for a long while ,
