Sounds like the batteries that come with the unit cannot handle the current drain from 1.5 ohm dual coil cartomizers, and are giving you all they can, but can't meet the current demand. AW IMR batts have a very high discharge rate, and can happily give all that you ask of them in this situation.

Just as a safety measure, I wouldn't use the batts that came with the unit for the DC carto's, Mindfield. If you are asking for more current than they can give, they are being stressed. This could be an unsafe situation, especially in a mod with stacked batteries.

This is one of the many reasons why AW IMR batteries are so highly recommended.

analogs were so much simpler!

But a whole lot less fun. :)

That's pretty much my assessment. The original batteries are now just backups while I charge the IMRs, which are my main batteries. I'm going to get a few more sets of batteries soon so I don't have to use the original ones at all (and also in anticipation of the new SmokTech VMax, because you just know it's going to come with crap batteries, I don't care if they do claim to be IMR. The Lava Tube came with IMRs but they were terrible, especially the mini.

Hey Mindfield--what's your opinion of the different voltage levels on the EVO Gold Edition(Green=4.0V,Yellow=5V,Red=6V)--much if any improvement from the other versions? I do like that gold colour though.

Well, the original version is 3.7, 4.7 and 5.7, so I there probably isn't a significant difference with the gold edition. Besides, for what I use it for -- low res duals -- the voltage settings with the standard EVO are just perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah--you're right--not much difference at all. I think I'll go with the Vaporus EVO.What charger are you using for the AW IMR 16340's? I have the Tenergy TN270 that Provape sells but I don't think it will charge 16340"s

Edit--
Actually I just checked the Provape site and it says the charger is "Compatible with 10440, 14250, 14430, 14500, 16340, 17500, 17650, 17670, 18490/18500, 18650"--on Tenergy's site it says "Cell Size Compatible: 14500/18500/18650/RCR123A"--I don't know alot about batteries and chargers so I'm a bit confused--just don't want to buy another charger if I don't have to.

Edit #2--I've been told that my charger will work--yah!

Holy ....! Mindfield or anyone else that knows these things please step in here!!!
I just tried a LR Stardust on it and even on the low level it's tasting dry, burnt, and hot! I have a couple SR Stardusts at home that I'll try later. What are your experiences with Stardusts and the EVO? I got a Smok DCL tank with it too but the carto didn't come punched, but I have punched ones at home too that I'll try later. Unfortunately, I'm stuck at work till 9 pm, and needless to say, wanna play with before then.

LR Stardust= Nogo.
SR Stardust on the low works (Still don't like the Sardust's on anything mind you, but the best here on the EVO on Green) Tasts a bit burnt on the MED (Yellow)
One of these days I will try a LR Stardust on an eGo and see what happens.

Thanks Spac. BTW the Stardusts, both LR and SR are great on eGo's. Taste and vapor galore.

Yeah, LR is a bit much. Even in 3.7V mod on the EVO I get a surprisingly warm vape -- I'm actually convinced that the 3.7V mode is probably more like 4+v or something because it performs better than most eGo batts, more like an unregulated, freshly charged eGo (which is usually 4.1-4.2V hot off the charger). Could just be the PWM regulator works better than standard linear regulators too. Either way, for me the EVO is really best for pushing dual coils to more satisfactory limits. 1.5ohm dual in a tank = awesome. That's pretty much all I've been vaping on lately.

That's precisely what I'll be using once I get home. Which setting are you finding to work best on the tank?

I tend to like it at medium. High is nice for a bit of an extra blast (especially if you get one one with a high variance at 1.7 or 1.8ohms), but with SmokTech cartos being as hit and miss as they are it can sometimes result in some unwanted burnination. I have also found that with this latest batch of DCT cartos I'm having to slot them as the filler isn't wicking as well as it should through that tiny hole. :/ Doesn't matter much though, I slot a box full in a couple of minutes so I don't mind.

Funny you mention this...

I've been double slotting them for the last couple boxes, but the last box, I either get horrid flooding with a double slot, or a combination flood with a burnt taste. Finally got a DCT carto working with a small single slot, 4 carto's later...

Well, fortunately, I've "only" had to single-slot mine so far, but they aren't lasting as long as some I've used even so. I really hope their dodgy quality is only because they were spending all of their QC budget on the VMax...

Time to go tank shopping. What's the best place to buy a good tank from? I have a mini SS Lavatube coming soon too, and God knows that I'm going to end up ordering a Provari whether I like it or not, just to see what all the fuss is about. I'm on the list for Genesis Line V2, but I could be dead by the time I actually get one. So boys and girls....tell me which tank to buy???

Hi All,

Received the EVO VV mod kit2 today. I was not to get till tomorrow, so this was nice surprise.;) Charged the batteries on the TrustFire TR-001 that came with it. Hubby loves it, with the SR Stardust, just on the green setting at I think 4volts, cause it sure is higher than 3.7 to me, warm vape. I told him to give it up and let me have a go for rest of night and I am using the dct v2 chrome, mini 3.5ml. tank, boy great with that also. Hubby said once he used this and went back to the eGo with SR Stardust, just was not the same, less of alot of things.:p Glad I got this kit, cause I can use the eGo XL case for travel, as hubby keeps forgetting to bring back up, when we go out. But I will probably give this baby to the hubby & maybe later get myself a provari mini or that new VMax, something small anyways. Note: It does have two vent holes at the bottom of battery holder and also spring inside. Just need to buy some Batt. from JR.:D

Argh! Is this why I can only get one or 2 of these to work on my tanks? I've been trying normal 1.5 and 2.5ohm tank duals, 2.8 sc's... getting fed up with it already. I have 2/4 tanks working and the 2 work very well. The others, in a baggie.
