lol, willy! guess england hasn't heard about that rule! :D

''Knife violence is a big problem in England, yet British police have fatally shot only one person wielding a knife since 2008 – a hostage-taker. By comparison, my calculations based on data compiled by fatalencounters.org and the Washington Post show that US police have fatally shot more than 575 people allegedly wielding blades and other such weapons just in the years since 2013.''
Why do American cops kill so many compared to European cops?

Can't speak for England but this 21 foot rule is fact and has been proven time and again, look at the videos and see for yourself.

After they took all the guns in England the number of home invasions went through the roof, no danger of the crooks getting shot by the homeowners. See my sig line. ;)

Guess we just disagree, and that's OK. :)

What ever happened to shooting some one in the leg or shoulder?
Why is it all most all ways a fatal shot?

Because life is not a movie.

oh, i understand ;) i made the ill-informed decision years and years ago to drive an ice cream truck in harlem :D i know about adrenalin and self-preservation!
and while cops are human they seem to be ill-equipped to handle situations over here

Rather than look at shootings per country, look at shootings per capita. Denmark has 5m people, France 66m, Sweden 10m, US has 324m. I'm not defending the US (maybe I am) but there are other factors than just those numbers.

I'll be voting Johnson, and yes I know he has his flaws and a snowballs chance. The DNC and GOP have put up their "best" and both scare the bejesus out of me so I just can't in all good conscious vote for either.
I read somewhere a vote for Johnson is a vote for Trump. All 3 are not worthy imho.

Gosh I saw this on Google news. Sad.... The guy obviously had "issues" but that'll get spun into something about Vapes being weapons or something stupid. The pic I saw showed the guy holding something in a firing stance... Whatever it was vape or whatever.... The "vape" part was unfortunate.

Some people are just plain crazy. I realize there is an issue right now with either abuse of power or civilians feeling threatened, but seriously... How hard is it to go about your day and NOT get shot!? I mean cmon.

I wondered that myself. Why always a kill shot? Why not less lethal means? Taser or rubber bullets or something?

I'm not taking sides for or against cops... But I'm a little confused why it always has to be a life or death situation. And in the event the bad guy has a gun, I have to think the cop with body Armour and vest have a better than average chance of survival plus he/she is trained to respond, fire, attack, etc... It seems to me, which doesn't mean much, that lately cops are way more jumpy and want to shoot first and investigate later.

But then again, I'm not the one risking my life so I shouldn't voice an opinion.

I can tell you in no uncertain terms, vest or no vest, If I was a cop, and some hopped up junkie raised what looks like a weapon at me, I'd go for the kill shot.

When these cops are on the shooting range firing at the targets, where are the little circles they are taught to aim at so in a split second, life or death situation, training & muscle memory can save their lives.

They are trained to do just that to drop a perp as quickly as possible, and rightfully so. If you were wearing the badge, you would be an utter idiot not to. Life on the streets policing many of the worst areas where the majority of these incidents occur and the hip hop idolized gangs are the rule and not the exception can't compare to "Rustler's Rhapsody".

This is the target they should be using these days.

Because in a life or death situation the choice of who's life is not in question. Police are trained to shoot center of mass. That gives the best chance of nutralizing the threat. No one truly aims in a gun fight. Press the gun out lock your head and torso the gun follows the head and line of sight. Front sight covers the threat trigger is pressed. Instinctive shooting. Your not shooting a bullseye competition your shooting to save your life.

Funny that the GOP is saying a vote for Johnson is a vote for Hillary and the DNC is saying it's a vote for Trump. Sanders (whom is now saying it's a vote for Trump) has back peddled so much that his call for his followers to tow the party line is so thinly veiled that it's humorous. Mine is a vote for Johnson, because I sure as heck wouldn't vote for either Trump or Clinton (or Sanders) if they were the only ones on the ballot. Why does that sound so weird...that is....calling her Clinton....just doesn't seem right....it's always Hillary....? Washington, throw 'em all out, term limits and no pension. Make it a crime to lobby or receive money from lobbiest. Wasn't it an unpaid job in the beginning? DC changes even good people with good intentions after too long. Reel the government in and make the hard choices to not only balance the budget but to pay the debt down. The backs of all that are paying for it are just about broken. I'd be able to substantially reduce what my business charges my clients if the FED didn't dig so deep. I'm a small businessman whom employs 6 besides myself and I'm not getting rich by any stretch of the imagination and work more hours than I care to even count. I have a cousin that lives better than I do and doesn't work. Something has got to change the status quo or someday it will implode. It's so hard to find a young person that is willing to actually show up and work hard for a good wage that it's not funny. Well, I'm rambling now.

Sorry for the rant, not aimed at anyone in particular here but sometimes ya just gotta get it off your chest.

I don't pretend to be a political vocal person. If in any of my posts that is what comes across I'm sorry.

Here's what I think with my limited knowledge. All 3 candidates have poor ratings in the public eye. Some more so than others (make of that what you will).

All of them have issues which lead just about anyone to question their abilities to lead our country, and especially better it! Trust, racism, competence. Take your pick and assign names as you see fit.

While there will no doubt be a winner come election time, there will be far more Losers. If I can find the clip of the movie I'm remembering (the American president) I'll post it later... It essentially has one of the advisors telling the President who is preparing a speech that the American people don't care about HIS life choices... They care about their own. I think that's a sentiment that can be felt as a nation right now.

I think the America people truly want a better government and leader in commander and chief. Is it Hillary? Is it Trump? Is it Johnson? As has been echoed here many times, this is voting for who dislike least, who you think and hope won't do most damage...

I think the results will be closer than people are expecting.

Than again, who knows, whichever one actually wins might actually do a good job? Who knows. There is more to this job than 1 person... There will be a entourage of advisors too.

God bless the USA. we really need it.

You must be getting false reports over their, we hardly ever hear about home invasions over here. Guns weren't taken, the rules mealy tighten on rifles and yes hand guns were virtually banned, but gun ownership was always very low here. Much more of a problem is "youths" with knives, so we ban pocket knives over 3", lock knives and "zombie" knives although most of this crime is with kitchen knives.

A year or two ago after tasers became more standard equipment one cop tasered a blind pensioner after a call about someone on the street with a samurai sword. IDK how anyone can confuse a white stick with a samurai sword, but I am dam glad they haven't given him a gun.

Cops do a difficult job and will always vary in quality, but for me a crucial bit is the culture of covering your buddies back no matter how bad he/she messes up. It taints the good cops and reinforces an us and them mentality.

calling all mechanics! ;) finally had the code read for my abs and traction control lights that've been coming on lately as the day warms up. found the corresponding tsb from mazda
http://am.mazdaserviceinfo.com/mazdaesi/index?page=detail_pagelet&id=TSB710&actionPrint=print
our virginia summer has been the pits this year - very hot and soupy - but can i expect the lights to disappear once fall arrives? abs might come in handy in the winter even though i'm fairly confident my driving skills would see me through a skid.
i got way too much going on atm to worry about this ....................

Looks like it might be covered under long term warranty. I'd at least go to the dealer to let them know just in case your warranty is close to expiring. The part is $530 - $750 with 1.3 hrs shop time.
