Hey Doc

KB saga. Everyone loved 'em, then everyone hated 'em, now everyone loves 'em again. Batch issues, mucho return to sender, panned out OK in the end.

Emp

Wonderfully summarized Emp! I am noticing a pattern here... the love/hate ebb and flow dynamic does seem to permeate our little group. I am feeling it pointedly myself recently. more on that later...

cheers,
bananadoc

p.s. Thank you dnakr--it is nice to be missed!

Yup, I'm in a hate phase with one of the brand suppliers at the mo (not fair to say who). No doubt when my spares land I'll be back in love with them...

Emp

i hear you... i believe i have become persona non grata at the SmartFixx site regarding atomizer deaths... but when they do reply.... aaaahhh, such sweet nothings!

Jet black. The very best cigars and pipe tobacco are black. The world's finest luxury cars are black. Evening wear is black tie or black dress. No color is the class act of color. A jet black cigarillo with a glowing red tip would set apart a jet-setter as no other combination would.

Now, 'cuse me while I see if my tux still fits ...

I'm sorry this is a late posting.
But I just had to add my comments to this.

My Cuban cigars never appear to be black and I do have quite a collection of these and as I am a frequent visitor to Cuba. I have never seen any black ones over their.

Also my two Jaguars aren't black either. But my
kissbox classic and sedansa are black.

Of course not! proper British Racing Green I'd wager!

No my jaguar XK convertible is silver and my Jaguar XJ8 is slate grey. There is an old wives tale or suspicion here in the UK it is bad luck to have a green car. But that don't really bother me long as the cars good. But I did once own a green Jag and I must admit I did have some bad luck with that car.

Well that is a new one on me! I ALWAYS associated sporty British cars with BRG.... My mom had a Lotus Europa when I was growing up--British Racing Green. My uncle had an XJS V-12 in the 80's, also BRG... Of course it also had Lucas electricals so it was often an adventure as to what might be working on any given day. By the 90's it literally hemorrhaged oil and he traded for a Lexus SC...

The XK is my absolute favorite car at the moment. I just love the look of the lines and the way it handles. Completely agreed with Jezza and his take on it on TopGear a while back...

ah well, back to work i guess!

cheers!

Hi bananadoc .

You don't tend to see British racing Green as much these days and if you do it tends to be metallic as well. You might get the odd special addition in that colour other than that it's quite rare these days. It is more your Land Rover range Rover which tend to go for these colours now. But those are normally the colours which are usually on a second-hand car lot.

But when we bought a range Rover and the last colour I wanted was green. We ended up with Monty Carlo blue which is quite a nice colour. The range Rover which we had was nothing but a nightmare never again we never had one month free motoring without having any problems. That's when we part exchanged in for another Jaguar. I know where I am with a Jag my father always had them till he died but he never bought a brand new one .

I was in a position a few years back where I bought a brand spanking new Jag and the sad fact was my father was not alive to see that.
The xk was always my dream car to have. I've never been interested in Porsche Ferrari etc and I agree with you very good-looking car. The quality got far superior when Ford took it over but now they've sold it which is a shame so I think it's now owned by company from India I think because they were at the factory a few weeks ago. And they had out most of the Jaguars out that they have ever been made to impress the new owners.

How I know this a friend of mine works for Jaguar and Land Rover. Before they brought out the new xk I test drove the car through him certain members of the workforce test the cars before they get into a major production and showroom . So it was quite strange being in a car that the shower rooms have never seen and then I get a phone call from the local dealership inviting me to the launch of the car. I said I've already tried it thank you. They told me you can't have. We haven't even seen it. So that was quite funny.
On our local TV news a few weeks ago which is based in the Midlands in the UK home of Jaguar or so. There are plans to bring back their E. type. So that will be interesting if that comes off. Do you get top gear in the States with funny obnoxious little man Jeremy Clarkson? My friend knows him to he visits Land Rover and Jaguar quite often complaining about his range Rover. Anyway I won't bore you any more and we will probably get a life sentence for going off topic.

But I will try and bring this back on topic now. I was thinking off sending Jeremy Clarkson electronic cigarette to see what he makes of this. He properly do is show driving around in company cars smoking an e-cig and going on public transport just to prove a point and I think that would make a great show.

Hey nZ!

Actually you made my day with that response (if we vear too far off topic, SmokeyJoe will probly just give us a friendly rap on the knuckles and banish us to a new thread... ) to be honest, my favorite color of any convertible jag in the past 3 decades has been this gorgeous blue (pacific blue maybe?) with a light cream, almost white, leather interior... it began, i believe, with the XJS and went through the xk8 to the present. BRILLIANT car! I always thought my first jag would be BRG-out of a sense of tradition.
(You have to understand, i am a hopeless Anglophile from way back. My granddad, who i never got a chance to meet, was a proper English Merchant Marine. He met my grandmother here in the states and never left. he passed when my dad was 7.)

But now-- thanks to you mate, i can go after a blue one instead! But i will have to wait to see what TATA motors does about bringing back the E-type... THAT would be my dream car!

BTW, I think sending Clarkson an e-ciggie would be a fabulous idea. Didn't he recently quit smoking? I think we are a season or two behind on BBC America...

Cheers,
greg

Hi bananadoc
Pacific blue is a good choice. Back in 2002 I bought a brand new x-type( the baby Jag) in Pacific blue with grey leather. Pacific blue always looks better when the sun hits the car
when the weather is dull like it normally is in the UK it doesn't really show off the metallic in the actual colour.
There was another blue on the earlier x-K8 which is more greener and slightly lighter blue .I can't think at the moment what that colour is actually called. But Pacific blue seem to come into production here from around 2001. But you do tend to have different colours in the U. S. other differences can be the bumpers. Strips down the side of the car. So there can be differences in the UK car to the US version.
The light cream leather is called in the UK ivory which is normally a lot extra on the price of the car because they class this as a nonstandard colour leather. I presently have ivory in both of my cars at present it always looks good but if you wear jeans it can mark it

Anyway I'm off to moan about our new kissbox= post
Janty - help me guys

All the best

Mark
