For some reason the movie "Idiocracy" ALWAYS comes to mind when I read a post like Reign's. Unfortunately he's right...

I decided to treat bad vendor stories the same as as the cloud blowers in
the cereal isles story's. Hundreds of reported encounters, zero pictures.
I see more evidence supporting Big Foot.

Sorry but unlike people who post their lunch on Facebook, I don't feel the need to photographically document my entire life.

And what would a photograph prove other than I was actually in a vape shop talking to a sales person? It's not like we have conversation bubbles over our heads.

Believe what you want but their are a lot of idiots out there and some of them are selling vaping gear.

I can tell you straight up one guy at the local B&M tried to sell me a mech with a Kanger Subtank mini the first time I went in there. Nothing about ohms law or any other safety precautions. Fortunately, I was just there for juice and didn't buy it.

It was two months after that when I found out that could be a dangerous combo on this forum but only AFTER I had tried it on another mech. I assumed it would be safe because that is what the guy tried to sell me. Fortuantely I didn't blow myself up in the process and was warned by forum members not to try it again.

Now how would that have played out if I had bought that setup from that vendor and it HAD blown up? You can bet your nether regions I would have sued them. They said it was safe so they would be liable for giving me incorrect info.

I'm not saying this would be the case with ALL vendors but it does happen. Vendors need to be sure their sales people know what they are doing and what they are selling. We're only giving the government more excuses to shut down the industry otherwise.

I've used a subtank mini and nano on a mech (not hybrid) and never had an issue. I always test on an ohm meter just like I would a coil I built. I have use an Atlantis on a Praxxis mod (hybrid) but I crank the coil into the base first which makes the pin protrude to work correctly. I also don't crank an atomizer down on to a mod either though. It's just knowing what to do and how to do it, then it's also down to people being honest with themselves about their ability (granted I worked in electrical for 10yrs. before getting hurt and having to quit, ladder broke not electrocuted, lol).

More than a lot selling it, lol but people need to do like you did, research, double check, verify. People cannot assume the clerk knows everything about everything.

And was any of that explained to you by a vendor or did you learn it on your own? Since that incident, I've read too many threads on this forum to think a tank without an adjustable center pin is a good idea for any mech.

And on that note..... Hurry up, 3F.... I need my freakin' Squape. :sneaky:

I for one have never observed any of this so called bad behavior.
I have read literally hundreds of posts about bad vendor selling
advanced gear and or vapers blowing clouds at grandma and
the babies and as of yet zero pictures. This has always seemed
rather odd considering modern cell phone technology.
A cop can't pick his nose in public with out someone taking
a picture yet, not one picture or video.
There's more proof of Big Foot.

I learned on my own, a non adj. pin is bad bad bad on a hybrid but on a reg. mech it can be perfectly safe. I won't say entirely since nothing is certain, most people argue the problem is about premade coils, in my experience if a coil pops, generally the circuit is open, meaning no connection to ground. It would be like hitting the firing button with no atty attached at all. I am also not advocating you or anyone go out and do It either, I know what needs to connect where, how it needs to connect and I am strict about my safety, my genny tanks don't even have a adj. pin. It's more about the pin pushing flush than anything else, some tanks have give and if it is cranked down on a mod it can cause a short.

I will say this, I have seen many people say leave mechs. alone, ban them, etc. but then see the same people tell someone to diy. They tell people it's cheap and easy, just buy 100mg of nic., pg, vg, and some flavors then you're good to go. I rarely see anyone telling people the dangers of nic. when mixing or that you need to test the nic. to make sure it really is the strength it says it is. I see people with this nonchalant attitude to things they like/enjoy, but treat others especially mech. users like witches in salem, lol. (Not saying you said any of this @WillieB69) it just popped in my head reading some posts.

The point is there is a lot of details on the advanced side of things, we may forget a detail (when explaining) because it is routine to us but not for someone inexperienced. Sometimes bad advice is done by poor knowledge and sometimes it is just an accident. That is why in the end, the user needs to research and educate themselves.

I was in Home Depot a couple weeks ago, buying a new chainsaw. Nobody appeared, as I was checking out, to ask me if I knew how to operate it correctly. In fact, I had to ask where the chainsaws were.
Must be the chainsaw safety instructor was off that day.

It's okay, he probably wouldn't know how to crank the model you wanted anyways, lol

Let's be honest here, and accept the
Responsibility.

You are an adult who carelessly purchased an item you did not fully understand.

Do you expect the doughnut shop employee to educate you about nutrition and a healthy diet?

People have tried to sue Apple for laptop batteries exploding on their crotches.
Take a guess how many were successful?
Apple defended these suits with millions of dollars and had to have settled many of them. One law suit shuts down a B&M. What sense does it make to equate the richest company in the world to your local B&M regarding a liability or negligence defense. It's meaningless.

It's just like the mods going boom, a lack of understanding. many people have no concept of the fact " the world doesn't revolve around you", too many people think it's all about them and their wants/needs. It rains, it's raining on them, power goes out they're the one in the dark. People have a tendency to think in micro but want to talk in macro.

Anyone who sells a product that has known safety concerns that are not obvious to everyone and does not include appropriate information about that safety concern and what is needed to be safe when using the product should be considered negligent and responsible for damages.

Your belief that this level of consumer protection should not be required is quite outdated. I'm not one to sue frivolously, but I don't consider lawsuits in cases like these frivolous. If manufacturers and retailers were more safety conscious and ethical this sort of thing wouldn't happen as often as it does and government regulation would not be needed as often either.

I doubt many people would enjoy it if society didn't hold this belief. Life in the 'wild west' makes for great TV, but I'm good with leaving those attitudes behind.

Id be fine with a mandatory warning label, but that's about it.

Your expectations are extremely high.

I'm smart enough to know a minimum wage employee shouldn't be liable for educating me on anything.

I'm also smart enough to do some actual research on the mechanical devices I stick in my mouth.

You would hope most adult humans are smart enough to do the same.

Yea but if it doesn't work then what really matters even though there are people out in tents doing the micro thing it actually is all macro....and then it goes BOOM. It's still rain and no things are revolving but everyone has an umbrella with holes in it but but but... lolz

Whoever told you a mech and a subtank mini was a dangerous combo was misinformed himself. A subtank mini is no more dangerous on a mech than a dripper, in fact I'd say the dripper is more dangerous! A subtank mini comes with pre-made coils and a rda section which fits a single coil a dripper can take dual or even quad coils which makes it MUCH more dangerous.

In fact both of those setups can be made safe it's about how you build them. You won't blow yourself up properly using a gun, you'll blow yourself up loading a gun and putting it to your head. There are specific ways equipment is meant to be used and then there is the way people use them, two completely different things. A mech on a subtank mini when used properly is COMPLETELY safe.

True. A Subtank mini isn't any more dangerous than any other atty on a mechanical. The potential danger is putting a Subtank on a hybrid mechanical.

Well yes and no, even a hybrid can be safe if properly insulated, mind you a bare 4nine clone with no hybrid insulators is not safe on a Subtank Mini or just about anything else!
