The shipping companies are inoculated from any responsibility and they know that. Especially USPS.

Speaking from ALOT of experience.

if I pay a vendor for an item and they ship the item as promised, they have done their part in good faith once it leaves their hands.

It is not their fault that the shipping company doesn't do theirs. It's not my fault either and I want my stuff.

At least 95% of my problems have been with the USPS once it gets over here (don't even get me started)

I have a 3F order from the first week of April that officially went into "Expired" status yesterday. They shipped it, I never got it and the tracking information shows that they shipped it and I never got it. In a rare exception, this one is lost in China.

It's not their fault. They can't be expected to follow every order around to make sure it gets delivered. All they can do is ship it in good faith.

My response is to tell them that I sincerely understand this and I really do, but I hope that as their customer they will take care of me and pursue their loss with the shipping company whose fault it actually is.

Put yourself in their position. Somebody sends them money for some items. They pack the items up and send them according to the shipping option selected by the customer. They've kept their end. Now here comes the customer yelling at them demanding their stuff and they have done nothing wrong. In fact the only party who actually IS at fault gets off scott free with no consequences whatsoever. Multiply that by however many times they hear it.

This of course is completely different than a situation where the vendor takes forever to ship the items, or ships the wrong items or to the wrong address etc. Then we have a legitimate beef with the vendor.

    I was waiting on 2 orders from fasttech. One was ordered in March and the other in May.

    Today, I received the May order consisting of an rta and some pre-built coils.

    The March order is showing it's been "shipped" but still in China. So much waiting for a $6.45 drip tip. Thank goodness I have a few hundred of them.

    I ordered something in March and it just recently arrived. Now I understand the pandemic I do the problem is that apparently the pandemic is only really affecting FastTech. The other Chinese places similar that I've used to have had maybe a week or two extra shipping but certainly not three four months

    This is one of the main sorting facilities in Shenzen 2 years ago. From what I understand this is only one area/wing among many in that complex. Probably 85-90% of our Chinese vape orders pass through this facility. It's a miracle we ever see ANY order make it over here at all.

    So don't let FT BS you. Shipments from China aren't taking nearly as long from most other Chinese vendors.

    Other retailers aren't using epacket, though. They use shipping agents like 4PX that use DHL and they don't offer a free shipping option like FT. And from what I've seen, the shipping rates at these other retailers have gone up a few bucks since March.

    If you want free shipping on FT, you get epacket and therefore you wait months.

    One think that some might Not Consider when thinking about Postal services is that None of them operate 100% FIFO (First in - First Out)

    Meaning that if Something happens to a Truck Load(s) of packages, the postal carrier Does stop processing everything until those Truck Load(s) have been sent, causing everything behind them to be late.

    They set the Problem aside and Slowly work thru it while continuing to process normal packages. This is what I believe happened when COVID-19 and the Travel Restrictions Hit.

    You have this Ginormous Warehouse where China Post dumped 1,000's of packages and essentially put them on Hold. And those packages are slowly being processed while the Bulk of New Mail is now going thru the system at a somewhat Normal Rate.

    If China Post did FIFO, then EVERYTHING would be Late. And EVERYTHING would be Late for a Long Time. When you throw a Wrench the size of COVID-19/Travel Restriction, there just aren't enough Processing Line or Airplanes to somehow Ramp Up things.

    Not Defending China Post. Because I'm Pretty Ticked watching this Everyday...

    90 percent of all consumer freight coming into Australia comes in the holds of passenger aircraft. I guess it's similar world wide. So no passengers/slow freight.
    I've found since covid that the FT free shipping option is the 3 month nightmare but one of their $3 shipping options (Australia Expedited Air) is as fast as ever. I spose it's traveling in specific freight aircraft.
    Maybe there's a similar option for US customers ?

    I always look at these issue's and consider what I would do if it were my business.
    If I had problems with the way my customers were receiving my products, I would change the way I ship them.
    If it means customers paying more for shipping then so be it. I would have much rather paid for shipping(I actually did pay a small fee for shipping this time) and actually got what I ordered in a timely manner.For the most part I like to support U.S. vendor's anyway.The ONLY reason I use FT in the first place is to get thing's that they have that no one else does.
    I am not mad at FT. I completely understand the problem believe me.

    The only way these companies will change is if you hit them where it hurts. I think we are far too forgiving when it comes to the business practices of today. I see alot of people praise these companies even when we see their customer service is a joke. For instance on ECF we have companies with special sections to interact with customers.That would be great if they weren't using it for the sole purpose of advertising. Try getting help when you have a problem.That's what separate's a good company from a bad one imo.
    Consumer advocacy is dead in this world.There is no money in it.

    Another consideration (I learned from an ebay seller) is that they're not going to launch a barge or an airplane because MY package got to the dock or airport. They have to wait until the vehicle is full.

    So if I happen to order right before the ship sets sail for America, it is loaded and will get here a lot quicker than if I happen to order right after. My package now sits there waiting for their next ship or plane to fill up. Which can take a LONG time.

    My point is that in most cases the vendor plays no part in the delay. They are at the mercy of the shipping companies and their operations just like we are.

    i am not contending that the vendors are perfect at all, but they do offer different shipping options for that reason. FREE shipping means I might be covered in cobwebs by the time it gets here.

    ANY of the pay options are usually faster. Usually, but not always.

    I guess my perspective is from being a computer support guy for a long time and knowing what it feels like to be viciously blamed for things you had absolutely no control over and nothing to do with.
