Soooo, my package has cleared customs in Cali four days ago. I tried checking alternate shipping carriers on the 17Track site but it's not picking up anything.

Any tips on how to track state-side? TY

I'm seeing Big Delays in USPS Tracking being Updated. And No Inter-Day Updates.

It wouldn't surprise me if your Package was actually in your State right now.

Yes, "Mis" informed delivery is slow, sometimes non-operational and etc. I kind of still wish that they would take those staff and send them out to just deliver packages, as it's a bit fruitless at the moment, "informed" delivery. I guess it's nice to know that USPS is carefully "informing" me that my package is in my mailbox the day AFTER I deliver it.

But, it is the Christmas season, and with funds to gather for travel in scarce supply along with internet shopping booming well, I try to cut them some slack and then also, cut them some slack.... LOL.

Have you noticed all the changes to tracking they have done this month I love the on the way to location one now had a package arrive in the states in Chicago then showed on its way to location 76114 then popped up in Dearborn how in the name of Kevin Costner is that on the way that is the wrong way unless they are going to come from the south pole.

According to informed delivery, the last package I got was on the 2nd which is funny since I have received 6 packages since then but hey the remember to tell me when my junk mail is coming F you State Farm and Geico. Hey wait maybe that is it State Farm and Geico has hijacked the mail and you have to get 10 of their ads before you get the stuff you want/need.

Maybe it is a Cookie thing?

Yes I always want to know about my junk mail and I am *SO* glad they take pictures of it for me as they load it onto the truck.... There's nothing like enjoying junk mail TWICE. LOL.

Anna

a fun thing to do with junk mail is when it comes with the postage-paid envelopes fill it full to bursting with ads from other places and send it back to them.

BTW - Ya know what would be a Useful little Tid Bit of Info USPS could put on their Tracking Site?

And that is when a Tracking Update says something like this...

December 18, 2017, 6:11 am

Departed USPS Regional Facility
SANTA CLARITA CA DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Your item departed our USPS facility in SANTA CLARITA CA DISTRIBUTION CENTER on December 18, 2017 at 6:11 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.

... if USPS would say where the Next Destination the Package is headed for.

Because USPS knows what the Next Destination is. And in this case, the Package wasn't supposed to head North and arrive at Santa Clarita. It was supposed to go South.

Maybe they confused Santa Clarita with Santa Claus?

Yes that IS fun. The husband once accidentally printed out his TAX RETURNS on paper that he had previously used to print out and read Clinton testimony on the other side....

He was audited for the NEXT THREE YEARS.:lol::lol:.

So, I stopped the practice, also felt that my sending stuff back in the prepaid envelope was a bit as bad as sending it in the first place, as they don't STOP sending it, we are just increasing the amount of money USPS gets AND using up valuable fossil fuels and whatnot. I DO have some junkmail EXCEPTIONS to that rule, but only if I really HATE the mail.

I also cursed myself once by listening to a woman trying to "get me better credit" by stealing my credit. I told her upfront that I would NOT be giving her my credit information while letting her go to town for about 45 minutes, while I was on lunch break and smoking....It was fun when she asked for my cards, and I said, "I told you already you are NOT getting my card numbers," and she hung up instantly.

Only I think they track that stuff by length of phone call as it is several years later and I am STILL getting calls from that "company" I think that they expected me to cave at SOME point. LOL, sometimes an act of random mayhem rebounds unexpectedly, I guess. :)

It could be.

Because the Inconvenient Truth is if a package starts in LA, the Only reason it would go to Santa Clarita is if was going to take that scenic trip thru the Central Valley to Sacramento or San Fran or for some Northern Parts unknown.

I think you can.... But it's not going to show up in USPS tracking until it's been "accepted" by them and has cleared customs, and I'm pretty sure that on occasion there may be a day or two wait. Unless it's DHL shipping, which, at least in my area, seems completely independent and delivers in a DHL truck. I've heard others say their DHL shipping is transferred to the post office after reaching the US. That is not the case for where I live.

OK... Looks like the USPS e-Mail Notification thing was a problem on My End.

USPS did send them. But my ISP Kacked in sending them, as well as a Lot of other e-Mails, to me.

Let me tell you I was just at my regional post office... I don't think I've ever seen it that packed. The employees looked HARRIED and all the supplies they put out had run out. I am starting to have sympathy for USPS and was even able to wait patiently for 20 minutes and chat with other senders :)

Normally, in such a situation, I get agitated, but I did not even stealth vape! Whatever vaping has done to improve my personality, I LIKE IT!!!! LOL, and thank you ECF members who helped me along the way. I still cannot believe my patience in such matters. :)

I even just SAW my mom and I kind of feel like calling her, just to catch up. :)

There was something in those cigs (or at least toward the end) that turned me into a snarling animal. Probably not being able to breathe and being loaded up on abx and steroids was part of it.

USPS is better than most. My son in law works as a UPS driver. That place is off the chain. For a few weeks now, he leaves the house in the morning and gets home about 10:30 pm.

Every day about noon a small rented box truck pulls into his driveway and unloads it in his garage. Sometime in the afternoon a ups route truck comes and loads the packages for round 2 of his route day. All the trucks also have a helper aboard.

If the regular truck gets too far behind, the yellow rented box truck does not drop off the packages, but actually delivers them.

Several years ago my son worked as a driver helper. They used our house as a drop off point. Every day the little rented box truck dropped off hundreds of packages in our driveway, outside, not in the garage, until the ups route truck picked them up.

Didn’t matter if it was snowing, sleeting, etc. Packages unwatched. If we weren’t home anyone could have walked up and taken anything.
