USPS is better than most. My son in law works as a UPS driver. That place is off the chain. For a few weeks now, he leaves the house in the morning and gets home about 10:30 pm.

Every day about noon a small rented box truck pulls into his driveway and unloads it in his garage. Sometime in the afternoon a ups route truck comes and loads the packages for round 2 of his route day. All the trucks also have a helper aboard.

If the regular truck gets too far behind, the yellow rented box truck does not drop off the packages, but actually delivers them.

Several years ago my son worked as a driver helper. They used our house as a drop off point. Every day the little rented box truck dropped off hundreds of packages in our driveway, outside, not in the garage, until the ups route truck picked them up.

Didn’t matter if it was snowing, sleeting, etc. Packages unwatched. If we weren’t home anyone could have walked up and taken anything.
Just last week, the UPS driver that delivers where i work was talking about that,i had never heard of it before. He said for about the last month or so,the box truck driver has met him somewhere on his route, they pull in a parking lot and load the UPS truck from the box truck, then he runs through the rest of his route. He said Amazon is slamming them right now, that day they had 42 semi trailers sitting in their lot that was all Amazon packages haha.

Let me tell you I was just at my regional post office... I don't think I've ever seen it that packed. The employees looked HARRIED and all the supplies they put out had run out. I am starting to have sympathy for USPS and was even able to wait patiently for 20 minutes and chat with other senders :)

Normally, in such a situation, I get agitated, but I did not even stealth vape! Whatever vaping has done to improve my personality, I LIKE IT!!!! LOL, and thank you ECF members who helped me along the way. I still cannot believe my patience in such matters. :)

I even just SAW my mom and I kind of feel like calling her, just to catch up. :)

There was something in those cigs (or at least toward the end) that turned me into a snarling animal. Probably not being able to breathe and being loaded up on abx and steroids was part of it.

Anna

I still have no sympathy for them this happens every year, they have calendars hire more people it is that simple. I remember as a kid they seemed to really care but anymore they do not.

I know it seems simple but "they" are owned by the government, so it becomes not simple at that point. Extra money to the post office allocated so everyone can have a speedy Christmas is not something I have ever heard discussed on the news. So I do have sympathy for USPS employees, because they are being seriously overtaxed probably.

FedEx and UPS could be used but they often aren't, due to their high costs, compared to USPS, and in this case, one gets what one pays for sort of well, IDK, given the hidden tax money involved... Prices are lower as we are ALREADY paying for them, before we pay.,. I do remember back when FedEx and UPS were NOT as expensive, and it was THEN that the government decided to step up USPS's game.... But they aren't going to give them extra employees over Christmas, I don't think.

BTW - Ya know what would be a Useful little Tid Bit of Info USPS could put on their Tracking Site?

And that is when a Tracking Update says something like this...

December 18, 2017, 6:11 am

Departed USPS Regional Facility
SANTA CLARITA CA DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Your item departed our USPS facility in SANTA CLARITA CA DISTRIBUTION CENTER on December 18, 2017 at 6:11 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.

... if USPS would say where the Next Destination the Package is headed for.

Because USPS knows what the Next Destination is. And in this case, the Package wasn't supposed to head North and arrive at Santa Clarita. It was supposed to go South.

BTW - My Other FT Order, the one that Didn't go to Santa Clarita - LOL, arrived today.

Accepted on the 9th. Arrived on the 18th. So 9 Days In-Transit.

That's Not Bad. And it was the One I want No Delays on it. Because it Included my 1st Regulated Squonk Mod.

I finally got 1 of my FT orders I placed on November 23rd. It had only items in it that were In Stock and were designated Ships Next Day.

I'm still waiting on the 2nd order, placed the same day, that had only items in it that said Ships in 3 Days. Tracking shows it's supposed to be here Wednesday. That one didn't even leave China until 8 days ago!!

It's very strange that BOTH packages were processed through customs in Miami on the same day, but the 2nd one is supposed to be here Wednesday!

My little lowly package ordered on Nov 18 is still mia. @puffon how are your 11 packages doing?
Still waiting for the one shipped 11/24 from 3F. Odd that I received 2 other pkgs from 3F, shipped Dec 1-2.
I'm going to contact 3F if it doesn't show up soon.
The others are moving along, only 4 left to go.

From Top 10 Things you should know about the USPS Top 10 Things You Should Know About USPS - Postal Facts
    And most importantly…
    1. The Postal Service receives NO tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.

They made the deal with Amazon this year to bring in more money, and I would be happy to pay them more if they were more reliable I do often take FedEx and UPS when it is an option it is not a matter of speed to me well that is part of it but I have had more packages show up looking like they were delivered in a vehicle that was in a demolition derby. They would have more money if someone put some thought into where the packages go you see in this thread alone more than one person has a package that tracking shows go out of it's way long before it shows up at their door.

    FWIW, I'm done with FT.
Made me wait a month in an order that never moved beyond accepted while another item shipped the same day arrived.

Now there MAY be an issue with the refund. Appears they refunded only shipping. Working with a rep, but after the shoddy cs to this point I'm not having the highest of confidence.

It's not the lost item that bothers me. It's that it was clearly lost and the reply was "wait longer". Buying in US from now on.

I'm also through with Fasttech. Order I placed on 11/24 arrived yesterday. All items in the order were shown as in stock and it still took more than a week to ship. That was with epacket.

I had hoped to get my Pico Squeeze by Christmas. Ain't gonna happen--that order was placed 12/9 and it's still in "preparing shipment." The only Chinese joint I'll buy from now is Gearbest. Their prices on the larger ticket items I'm interested in are better, and their ability to get orders en route is demonstrably faster.

From now on, if it's not stateside or at Gearbest I'm not interested regardless of cost.

I've only ordered from GB three times. All three were less than two calendar weeks in transit, and all three were shipped on the "dispatch date" shown on the items' pages. How long ago did you order from them? Maybe they've stepped up their game.

My longest wait from FT was just over 9 months from shipped until when I received it...... Had received a full refund and didn’t have a clue what I had even ordered.

That sounds like a customs agent held it up and tested it out for you.
