Well, I got tired of missing the small supply DV kept receiving. And I was not gonna pay $20 for 3 skinny wicks. So today I went to petsmart (first time I ever been there I don't have any pets). Bought the top fin airstones for $3.99. I cut it in half and got 5 wicks out of it. This was my first time cutting these so maybe I could of gotten more. I made 2 that are 5/32" to fit the large wick hole of the ac9 clone. And I made 3 at 1/8" to fit my agaT2 and ac9 rba's. Cutting that sure did kick out a lot of dust so I had a mask so I wouldn't breathe in all of that. I think I saved a bunch of money today and I still had another half of the stone I can use later.

I haven't cut these so not 100% sure but I think the guys wet the stones first. Maybe that will keep your dust levels down a bit.

Yeah that makes sense.
If I remember what I read correctly, some did wet the stones when cutting to keep the dust down. Those people found that the water in the stone created a sludge that blocked the pores when cutting the stone. A trip through an ultrasonic cleaner helped get the grit/sludge out of the pores of the stone.

Keeping the stone wet also makes the diamond wheel last longer.

If you need someone to test one, I'm here for you..
I have made a batch of the FC wish wicks "yeah wish it was a white wick" and don't feel the same as others. I do however want to try the white wick, at least one!! .....I haven't had any pleasant moments with this wick...

The way I clean my wicks is I just heat them with a torch until they are glowing and then let cool. After that they look like new and the flavor returns.

Try cutting grooves down the sides of the wick. Like 2-4 and you don't want to make them that deep. I would also read up on this thread. Lots of helpful info. And Boden makes the BD13 wicks.

Nice job! nice cut, they should work if well cleaned and a good wrap...
A lot of us went the fishstix route before realizing how justifiable the FC spending is...
but I still have my fishstick suply in case of trouble!

I still use the fishsticks I made a while ago in all but two of my RBAs, they just seem to last forever if you don't break them. They other two have the non-slotted FC2000s in them, and they only seem to work marginally better than my home-brew Fishsticks, but they are well broken in now and deliver a great clean vape with lots of flavor.

I still haven't gotten any of the new slotted FC2000 wicks (can't find any) or any of the BD13 White Wicks (missed out on the testing offers), but so far, these will get me through until Boden's Great Whites are available.....

I'm still using my fishwicks as well. My latest is a 1/8 that I slotted myself and put in a drilled out aga-t+. It is providing excellent vapor/flavor with 6 wraps (ehw) of 28g at 1.1ohm. It's out performing an fc slotted 1/8 from dv that I had wrapped with 30g at 1.5 ohms. Still need to try the fc slotted with the 28g but can't make myself tear the fishwick setup down for now. Will definitely try one of boden's white wicks unless the price is crazy high.

I'm using 30g wire at 2.4 ohms with 8 wraps. Is a 7/64 wick. I drilled it out almost to 1/8". I'm still experimenting looking for the best setup. It just surprises me that I have no build up.
Have had about 60 - 3.2ml tanks each about 4 weeks+ in on the same March FC-2000 wicks on 2 different AGA's ... no gunk, nothing to clean, look the same the day I installed these setups. I run 76% PG and flavoring is around .1% ... nearly flavorless.

yes, I would even say that a good ceramic setup can be permanent (maybe a bit adventurous). I have 2 DIDs that I don't look at as rebuildables anymore. When I feel performance is slowing down, i fill the tank with water, do a wet 'boil', slowly emptying the tank to clean the wick pores then finish with a dry burn to clean the coils. good as new. I think the "rebuildable" concept has been redefined with these wicks.
