their have been 2 or 3 times when unknowingly i have depressed the fire button for 10 or so seconds, after realizing that the atty was firing without me vaping on it, i did then notice what happens. the juice must burn on the wick creating a nastly taste that darkens the juice, this taste doesnt go away to easily. i had to change out the juice, dry burn wick, and then vape at least a ml of juice before the flavor got back to normal. is this what you are referring to?

Then what should you use to burn/break in a coil/wick? Not the juice you normally vape like I've been doing?:?:

i guess it is because the top cap is on and no vapes are happening. like i said this has happened a couple of times, once i was vaping on my provari and put it down, a few seconds later i looked down and seen vapor coming out of the air hole and said what the heck? i grabbed it and noticed that the button had stuck. now this only could of been firing for what? 10 or 12 seconds, or whatever the cut off is on the provari, but when i vaped it next, it was awefull. same thing happened on my new vela, i just forgot to release the button after taking a few pulls, this was probably firing for 15 seconds before i realized i was holding down the button, both times the mod was vertical. dont know what happens here, but its nasty.

oh we went all nostalgic on our last family trip to the west coast! thought the laguna lifeguard tower would make more meaningful avatar to me as I'm totally in love with the west coast and the town is twinned to a neighboring town of where I was born on the french riviera....better avatar than the one I already see in the mirror every day don't u think? :)

I kept seeing you mention "vela" and I was wondering what the heck that is and trying to look it up. Now is see... nice combo.

it is so simplistic the caravela. no springs in the battery connection, and the 510 connection is just a brass screw. maybe thats why it is so efficient. before i recieved it i thought it was going to be super techno or something, but it is just basic and simple connections.

On that same note, I'd like to pick up a Chi-You mod sometime. How is that with the interchangeable top contact screws? I picked up one of the ChiChi mods a few weeks back and really like it. Have a couple more on the way. Growing to like the GG style side button. Have a couple extra short tube sections coming so I can run an 18650 Kicked in a couple. Should be interesting to see what kind of battery life I can get out of that combo. I normally run at around 9-10w anyways with electronic mods. Going to keep at least one stock so I can go low ohms. I'll bet the "vela" rocks where that's concerned.

TBinAZ the Chi you is probably as hard to get as the "vela"... ;) and it looks like a solid well crafted mod too.
The vela rocks not doubt but its safe to assume it doesn't really perform better than other mods. Its just that there seems to be a magic formula involved in the making that creates a special bond with its owner. I think every owner of the Caravela may relate to that feeling...
I'm not sure its "vape" related, its tapping into something else... the ego maybe lol

I recoiled the wick after boiling and torching.....3/4 of a tank gone and all is clear. It had to be one of the wraps causing the discoloration.

i love that top contact screw, it makes for such easy adjustment, also whenever you get a little juice in other mods you always think there can be a build up of some sorts but with the caravela you just unscrew the top part, unscrew the contact and wipe it off, pretty cool. i would have to agree with dsmooch on the vape of the caravela, although it is really nice, i dont see much of a difference between it and my 70 dollar omega, which doesnt even have brass contacts.

it sounds like the same effects but different ways it happened. my coil was perfectly fine, it just was the effect of dry burning with the top cap on, although i didnt mean to do this.
