So if the FDA bans ecigs, would it go into effect immediately?
Here is the sequence of events that is required to happen by law...

The FDA "proposes" their intended regulations, which is what is known as the "deeming regulations" you may have heard about.
After those regulations are proposed, there will be a public comment period which can be as short as 30 days or it can be much longer.

After the FDA reviews the comments (supposedly) they will then issue their final regulations.

I see nic base supply plumetting in the near future. On the bright side if you smoke 0nic you don't have to worry. They can't ban or re-classify PG, VG, and food flavor concentrates. The only thing they could potentially affect is the sale and/or availability of Nic base in the US. And/or they could stop the import of nic base if they are really commited enough to get the customs to hound down on it. You can extract crystalized nicotine from tobacco but it's more trouble then it's worth.

Yeah mytsmooth I'm wanting to get to 0nic too. I started on 24 1.5-2 months ago and it's too strong so I stuck with 18 and 16, well yesterday I dumped some random amount of VG into my 3/4 empty bottle of 20mg so now it's a bit over half full, been vaping it for a day and a half now and it seems to be working mostly. So I could probably hang with 12mg or so. And the flavor tastes better diluted. I've got a sensitive set of taste buds so too much flavoring tastes nasty.

And even if they did do a war on drugs type deal against nicotine importing BT would still get theirs. But yeah moving to 0nic would just be that much better because I wouldn't have to worry about running out and PG/VG/Flavors are dirt cheap.

I'm wondering if I should buy a bunch of DIY juice to be prepared, what do you think?
I can NOT go back to real cigarettes, with health problems I think it would kill me.
    I'm seriously worried about this.

If you're that frightened, Buy some bulk nic- we'll teach you how to use it. Most vaper's, if pressed, could probably wean themselves down to zero nic in a yearish.

We here are the lucky ones- we can just buy bulk. It's the people that need to get off tobacco products in the future that I'm concerned about.

I'm concerned for my grandkids. And their friends and family.

    Well lets see

    Nicotine Patches | eBay

    Nicotine Gum 2mg | eBay

hmmmmmmmm..."personal vapers" are just another ALTERNATIVE form of nicotine delivery without the TAR or Carbon Monoxide

They want to regulate that but NOTHING on the above?

What does that tell you...they are not doing it to protect people from eeeeeeevil nicotine...they are trying to protect the financial interests of BT

Second time posting in the newcomers section, but this topic seems appropriate. My wife and I have been trying to quit regular cigarettes for several years. Patch to the little nicotine puffers to Chantix (tried wellbutrin but that didn't last long) We've been using the cartridge type ecigs marketed locally by our Native American bretheren and all is going well. I've actually moved up to a eGo-c twist with a clearomizer (CE4) also sold by one of the Tuscarora stores here in Lewiston, NY. I think I've been bitten by the collector bug though.

To the point of the thread: Considering the opposition being mounted by Big Tobacco to any regulation on nicotine in cigarettes and their involvement in developing and marketing e-cigs, I don't see dramatic regulation coming soon.

    Taxes are another thing however.

Just buy some pure nicotine seperately. >>>Url removed.

Until it's illegal to be in possession of nicotine then there is nothing the FDA or any other government department can do to stop "anyone" from using it.

So they'll stop vendors from putting it in their e liquids, so what !. That's all they can do, apart from that, consumers can use as much as they want. Screw the FDA, they're idiots !.

No, no, no, no... we do NOT use pure nicotine in DIY. At most we use 10% nicotine, otherwise known as 100 mgs/ml. The stuff you linked to is made to be used with a full chem suit and a chemical exhaust hood. Even the fumes are dangerous. Please do your homework before posting links like that.

I don't think we should induce panic saying the FDA will ban nicotine in juice. If they ban nicotine then you can expect 90% of vapers to become non-vapers.

I do expect the FDA to regulate how much Nic is in juice, but to ban it all together is pointless because then they will have to address all the tobacco products that contain nicotine. Why would it be okay to have nicotine in cigarettes, dip, chew, cigars, etc, and not in vaping juice?
