Taxation will come as tobacco payments grow smaller. I think our government realizes that they need to share the load between competing products to keep money flowing.

Regulation could be good for the vaper if done in a fair manner. I would like to know that my juice is ALL USP grade, not just the nic component. But, when you look at juice recipes, most are made from USP grade ingredients anyway. PG, VG, Nic, and flavoring are already controlled by the FDA. If vendors are using USP approved ingredients, we should be in good shape.

Actual testing (with an open mind) of the safety of vaping might be reassuring to all. We believe that vaping is safe and is certainly better for us than tobacco smoke. But, do we know what 40 years of vaping actually does to our body and can we expect to have lungs the same as a non-user after vaping for decades? Few things are guaranteed. At this point in my life, I just want something safer than smoking and I think vaping fits the bill.

they'll regulate it so it can be taxed...same thing...all part of the gov't. no need to nitpick :D
Everyone has an opinion about government but few know much about it. Tobacco products are taxed by legislation created by our elected representatives in federal, state and local governments.

Of course, without taxation / or stealing using your term .. we would be driving on dirt roads, bridges would be pay as you cross, old folks would have no safety net, the poor would go hungry .. etc ..

Ok here is some truth, regardless this will happen soon enough,

we have 3 major interests we will be dealing with I will try to explain best i can.
1 is big tobacco it stands to lose revenue with decreasing sales this will result in their federal tax liability and corporate taxes being reduced
2 is big Pharma who also stands to lose big in the smoke cessation product industry this to will result in them paying less taxes due to lost revinue.
Also we have the Insurance commission who takes money from big tobacco for making a product known to cause health problems. they to will have a trickle down effect with lower tax burdens.

ALL of this lost revinue and tax liability will cause the IRS to seek equilibrium through the source ...us...the new non smoking vaper
and the industry that has provided vaping parts pieces and juices...

see big tobacco and big pharma are "enemy friends" one makes money on getting you sick the other makes money on treating your sickness...and the IRS makes their share of both

1) Tobacco is a growth industry outside the USA ..
2) Smoke cessation products are a minor part of the pharmacuticals industry ..
3) The IRS collects taxes, they do not make taxes .. it's your elected officials that create taxes ..

getting ahold of USP grade PG or VG is not at all expensive or difficult. You can buy PG by the gallon at tractor supply..and its USP grade 20$ a gallon...Ideal Animal Health Propylene Glyco, 1 gal. - 2209731 | Tractor Supply Company

and you can buy VG at Walmart for super cheap, also USP grade. I doubt vendors would ever cut corners with buying non USP stuff when it is this insanely cheap to buy USP grade. Additionally PG and VG are already regulated by the FDA and generally recognized as safe for human consumption. The only thing the FDA could conceivably go after is bulk nicotine, but they already regulate it too. So what left, batteries? or maybe clearos, carto's? they cannot regulate non food or drug products afaik.

Also there are countless people and doctors that have released x rays and MRI's of peoples lungs after years of vaping and they all say they see no ill effects at all.
there is a post on nuvapor with images, i don't think i can link it here but if you want the link PM me.

1) I am talking about inside the USA
2)smoke cessation are 12 % and growing...if you think in numbers like "billions of dollars" its worth mentioning.
3) semantics, replace the word "makes" with "gets" if it helps you understand the general idea.
4) whats your point?

My point is ..

We live in a global World .. major companies like what you are talking about, are marketing the product outside the USA because they know that's where the growth market is .. the PV is not a smoking cessation product, and trust me, you don't want it to be ..

And I just thought I would clarify your understanding when it comes to taxation .. and just to be clear, I'm fine with taxing the PV .. since most like to tout the so called "health benefits" .. who cares if buying one costs a little more .. after all, it's all about the health, right .. ??

I think people are portraying the FDA as much too benevolent based on past experiences.

They didnt try to regulate us before Judge Leon's decision.....They tried to shut us down by seizing and destroying shipments, putting vendors out of business and drying up supplies......they havent tried to amend the false statements made on their website and they havent show us any indication that theyre even willing to play nice....or tell the truth to the American public for that matter.

To think that they have any intention of doing anything other than regulating us out of existence is foolish in the extreme.

Prepare for the worst, pray for the best.

Zapped: its less about assuming benevolence, its a desire to give the benefit of the doubt. Simple reality is that scientific evidence IS out on our hobby, whether we like it or not. I agree that heavy-handed tactics have been tried -- and were misguided -- this can't be denied; but that doesn't mean that past mistakes can't be rectified. I prefer to hope for positive solutions; but prepare for negative ones.
