420smiles,

I understand you're angry but you should step back and think about what you're saying.

I won a new car in a contest. Through my own fault, I wrecked the car. Would I expect them to give me a new car or pay to fix the one I wrecked due to my own negligence?

Why not ask Jay to repair it and pay to have it fixed? You're still ahead of the game money-wise and it will still be cheaper than buying a new one.

Are you not reading the same thread as everyone else?

I HAVE PAID FOR REPLACEMENT CAPS!!!! SO HOW AM I FUSSING ABOUT FREE????

I HAVE NEVER ASKED JAY TO SEND ME ANYTHING FOR FREE!!!!

THIS AIN'T ABOUT FREE ANYTHING........IT IS ABOUT WHAT I PAID FOR AND WHY HE LIED ABOUT PUTTING IT IN THE MAIL. AND WHY THE MAN WHO SUPPOSED TO BE MAKING THESE THINGS CAN'T SEND ME A CAP THAT MATCHES THE UNIT HE PRODUCES.

GEEZ.......Is it REALLY that hard of a thing to understand??????

PLUS.......The caps he sent, a week and a half later than stated by him, don't even work. So HE SOLD BOGUS REPLACEMENT PARTS!!! I guess THAT is MY fault too!!! Right????

I apologize, 420. I didn't mean to further upset you. I hope everything is worked out to your satisfaction.

Peace.

beckah

You didn't upset me, Bec. It's about bad business. I'm only one person.......I'm sure not everyones GLV experience is like mine. But everything I have said is true. I'm a paying customer. The "deal" I got was HIS price.....I didn't ask for a "Deal", I didn't ask for "Free". I admitted fault in breaking it.......never assumed it had a warrenty or if it did that it covered my wrong doing. I offered to pay from the gate. I never lied about anything.

This thread looks like the sun there is so much fire....this stuff should have been dealt with in pm then came to a thread. People should know when there are issues with product, potential customers should know issues to look for before they buy. But they do not need to see a flame fest like this. In honesty it not only makes the issue with glv seem bigger than it is, it makes 420smiles seem like a hothead when every other thread I have read of his makes him out like a pretty cool guy.

The way I see it Jay should have communicated better and was a week late on shipping. That was bad business and service could have been better.

420smiles knew he was buying a mismatched cap...he agreed to it. Jay had stated in his supplier threads he only has 901 and 801 units on hand. He has no 510s and sold you HIS personal cap, and all I hear is complaining. That seems very rude to me. Jay has the glv's made in batches, to get more caps he would need to have another batch made. 420 should stop acting like a cap is so easy to come up with (and I don't care if the cap arrived broken, that is a different issue, it was sent out and you did get it 420, just late, I am sure it worked on jays but something probebly isnt making contact when matching it to your equipment because it isnt matched, and has been broken in to jays stuff, adapters and such).

420 should have took this to Jay before taking it here then presented us the facts with a clear head. This thread while being a honest complaint is also a borderline attack. Seriously..to both parties ill end with this.

420...you are a cool guy but calm down a bit. There is a difference between complaints and insults. Complaint would be "Jay sent my items out a week after he stated he would. This is unprofessional and upsets me. Just letting people know". Insult is when you throw out things just to be hurtful or vent rage.

Jay...I understand your schedule, its truly impressive you have turned your mod into a company and juggle work and school. I also know you are genuinely trying to back your products, I did a lot of research before I bought mine and have watched it grow from prototype to mod. But 420 is right, he was sent his cap a week late and he did pay you for it. That was a business agreement so his expectations for prompt shipping were not unfounded. I think one thing you should do for your next batch is have a few extra caps made to keep around just in case, it can help in situations like this. Also when your schedule gets too crazy as stated it was, try to have someone give us a heads up, I know most can and will understand as they do with carlos and his juice box.

In closing...I think you both are great guys and threads like this make everyone look bad. Sorry for the wall of text, Im off to more plesent threads lol.

And @ 6linkslam......

Yes, the replacement caps have the new button. And no I have not got it to work. I decided on it this way.....

1)- Lesson Learned. Buy a Chuck.
2)- I won the GLV and I'm proud to say that I OWNED one. In concept and design it is a great product. But the ability to be a reliable unit ,for me, it is lacking. My experience was bad. But it still is a trophy. Since it is all mis-matched and not working, I have my guy looking at making me a better cap. I gave the old stripped cap to him last week. It will work as a PV again one day. And my friend Audrey is going to design a wrap for it......she may even paint it.....who knows??
3)- I gotta get some tylenol..........all this thread has done is give me a headache. LOL

Do you have a voltage meter? Have you tested continuity from the battery post to atty connection?

After everything I've went through with this thing I'm not tinkering with it. I bought the caps and they don't work.......I'll have my guy machine me a new cap with a side button and the atty connector on top. It won't look like a GLV but it will work. But Thank You for the suggestion.........:)

Already chucked'em in the woods behind the house. Told CTJ I might have a contest to see who could guess how far they went. Sorry. I've always been the kinda person who will chuck it if it don't work. Only thing that kept me from throwing it out the first time it broke was my wife. She insisted I try to get it fixed. She is outta town tonight......No telling what I might throw out next!:)

yes....I literally THREW THEM. I paid for them......they didn't work and they didn't match my unit so I threw them out. I'm not getting another GLV and I'm not paying to have another body made for it so they served absolutely NO purpose. I've checked my PayPal 4 times for that refund and he hasn't done it. Probably won't and I don't care. The satisfaction of seeing that crap(....ooopps....I meant CAP) go flying thru the air........it made me feel soooooooooo good. Ask Jay to sell you an extra cap. From what he says, he will take care of you cause you are a customer.

You threw your replacement caps in the woods and you said in your last post that your not going to buy another glv or have parts made for your current one. Since this is the case why don't you sell me what's left of the glv? As of right now it serves you no purpose and you can make a little cash off of it. Hopefully you didn't throw the rest of it into the woods too.

I AM having a new polished cap made, since Jay doesn't supply them, and I am keeping the body and bottom cap. It won't be a GLV style cap, but who cares...........Both GLV style caps ended up being faulty in one way or another.

Sorry.

Look in the Classifieds. Lots of people have gotten rid of their GLVs.....and those aren't broken.

I already have 4 glv. I just figured you would want to sell yours. I guess you don't though. I just don't understand why you would throw the caps away and then go to someone to have one designed and built. Doesn't make sense. I thought maybe I could offer you some cash for something that you don't even seem to like. I still don't understand why you threw the caps away. You didn't even take the time to test them out to find the problem.
Good luck with your redesigned cap. It shouldn't take long at all to machine a new cap so be sure to share some pics of your finished product. And if you decide not to make the cap I want to buy the tube and end cap.

Alright. I NEVER said I didn't like the GLV. This thread was about how Jay always has an excuse why things aren't his fault. I LOVED my GLV, that is why I was willing to put tacky mis-matched caps on it so it would work again. I sang praises about the GLV when it worked. I didn't do anything but promote his product.......until it broke, and he acted like I was asking to be fixed for free. I offered to pay for my mistake the whole time.

It is mine, and Jay isn't gonna refund anything for those caps, so I will do with the mis-matched caps whatever I want. If you have 4 units, and they all work, great. I'm happy for you. But I tried to be civil with Great Lakes Vapor. I asked to BUY caps for my unit. I bought caps for my unit. Those caps didn't work. And to be honest......they had the same really soft threads that my first cap had.

Quit trying to understand what I done. I done what I wanted. I paid for the caps so they were mine to use as I seen fit. It isn't your place to understand how I handled things.

This thread is NOT about "my poor GLV that I got for free" like people keep throwing in my face. This thread is NOT about how I broke my "free GLV" like others keep reminding me. This thread is about a guy who makes these units, for some reason can't make just the caps to replace the faulty ones, he himself as admitted to knowing he put out. He can show an entire box of units in his thread, but always has an excuse why he is backed-up. It is about how everytime someone has a problem with his product, and it's more people than just me, he has an excuse why it isn't his fault. He claims NOT to care about the money, He will fix GLVs for free...........but when it came to mine....since he didn't make money off of me to begin with.....he didn't wanna do anything for me.
This thread is ALSO about how Jay lies to his customers. On the 16th of Jan. WHY did he tell me my caps were mailed out first thing on Jan.15 ??? The postage says he didn't get it into the post office to be shipped until Jan19. Ne need in being a dis-honest vendor.

I'm saying this one more time...........people need to read this WHOLE thread. I took full responcibility for the threads of my GLV getting stripped. Always had. I NEVER asked Jay to send me free replacements caps, or a free unit. He held the original contest, and I won by luck of the draw. I asked him after the unit broke if I could PAY him to send me a TOP CAP for my unit. When he agreed, and I paid him ( keep in mind, he set the price for those replacement caps) that meant I became a PAYING CUSTOMER. And ever since then all Jay had done was LIE to his CUSTOMER. PLUS......When those caps I bought got to me THEY DID NOT WORK.

So do we all understand now????

here.....a lil more simple this time.

1- I broke it and admitted my fault.
2- I PAID for replacement caps.
3- He LIED to me about shipping and sent faulty parts to replace the part I broke.
4- The caps were mine and they were junk......I THROW OUT JUNK!!
5- The GLV body and bottom cap I still have can be used to make a unit I CAN use.

If you don't understand what I am saying, then I'm sorry. I don't know a simpler way to break it down.

I hope one day Jay will get his stuff in order and realize he can not lie to his customers and he can't keep selling faulty stuff.

I laughed when I read that you were considering a contest to guess how far the caps flew when you threw them into the woods. I don't own a GLV but I had a different [very popular] mod that never worked, got sent back and forth thru the mail a couple of times, always came back with a note going into great detail how it was user error...blah..blah...blah. I finally just go so fed up with it that I threw the whole thing into the trash bin. The sound it made when it hit and rattled around was the most satisfying moment I'd ever experienced with the unit.
Never discount the value of an occasional raging freak-out.... sometimes it's just what the doctor ordered.
