Hmmm...I got 3 of the loose cap Igos yesterday (my original was tight fitting), not sure if I want teflon tape that close to my ejuice - any concerns there?

Does anyone know what size o-rings are on the tight fitting Igos? If I can just order some or run down to the hardware store, that would be great!

Considering teflon tape is used to seal water lines, I'm personally not concerned about it. What the Chinese manufacturers use to make their o-rings would have me a bit more concerned. :) You can also use dental floss under the o-ring as someone pointed out and you put that stuff in your mouth.

Ummm...yeah, but teflon tape and dental floss usually aren't subjected to the temps you see in an atty with the resulting fumes being inhaled. Just sayin'.

I agree, Chinese o-rings could be of questionable materials/quality, but I doubt if "American Made" o-rings are significantly different in composition. Has anyone done a test of "vape-safe" o-rings? I highly doubt it. :)

PTFE MSDS:

Acute inhalation toxicity
The thermal decomposition vapors of fluorinated polymers may cause polymer fume fever with flu-like symptoms in humans, especially when smoking contaminated tobacco.

Repeated dose toxicity
Polytetrafluoroethylene
Oral - feed rat
No toxicologically significant effects were found.

Reading an MSDS could turn Mike Rowe into a hypochondriac so take it with a grain of salt, but it's still a better course of action to get better fitting o-rings.

You could always fold the teflon a bit (I know, it's a hassle working with teflon tape) so that you are only covering the lower O-ring. The top O-ring should keep the vape chamber completely sealed off from the bottom O-ring, with the bottom O-ring only being there in order to have the cap fit firmer. There should be zero possibility of anything bad happening that way.

You got me there, I wasn't thinking of heat, just your comment about close proximity to your juice. I guess the thermal ramifications could be an issue if the iGo is getting hot enough for the teflon or floss to out-gas and get into the vapor chamber. I had an issue with a drip tip a while back that out gassed horribly when used with atty's and carto's when they warmed up.

Good point here. Just remember to not let the metal base get hot enough to melt/burn either the o-rings or the teflon, to avoid any thermal decomposition.

Some online sources claim 'Glide' brand dental floss (tape) can be used similarly to teflon tape for sealing pipe joints.
