My coils literally caught fire just a moment ago. I was firing Limitless Gold RDTA without the cap on and poof! Easy to blow out, but I am dumbfounded. What are they putting in my juice? I was pushing 125w with .15 ohm build. The juice...Juishy pina colada 6mg 70vg. Has this ever happened to anybody out there?

Yes, VG & PG are both flammable at the right temperatures, without airflow the juice can produce a flame.
So should I be concerned? Thinking of how hot it would get if it catches fire while taking big lung hit.

Saw that today when dry-burning the coils in one of my RTAs. It lasted about one second. There was a little juice on top of coils with a week or two of gunky buildup. That stuff is combustible.

As opposed to being flammable.

Gasoline is flammable.

Paper, wood, cotton, etc are combustible. And gunky coil buildup.

Thing is, it didn't even singe the cotton. Could the juice itself catch fire like a Zippo lighter? The juice has a alcohol taste to it. The cotton and build are both fresh.

Yup. VG is a left handed sugar. You can even convert it to fructose with the right enzyme addititve. That’s how they make golden syrup. Sugars burn.

Heated glycerine is flammable (flammability rating of 1 GLYCERINE | CAMEO Chemicals | NOAA).
So yeah without cooling the juice can catch fire, very unlikely to happen while vaping if you're not making ridiculous builds and fire them with very high power.
Here's Jai Haze setting fire to his build (I believe almost dry cotton)

PG and VG are both alcohols and given the correct conditions, they will burn.

Appears to be a difference on the understanding of VG. I’m not sure it actually matters though.

Here’s the wiki page on it in the unlikely event that it clears anything up

Yeah PG and VG have the same flammability rating of 1, so flammable if heated first (to a certain individual temperature).
But I thought it was inflammable:lol:

So my build and wattage heated it enough to make it burst into flame. Makes sense now. Thanks guys, I actually learned something today!

Glycerol - Wikipedia
Glycerol is a simple polyol compound
Sugar alcohols, a class of polyols[...]
And there's Glycerol in the list of sugar alcohols. It is the simplest of them because it only has three carbons. .

Another give-away is that it ends in "ol". That's a pretty good indication that it's an alcohol
In chemistry, an alcohol is any organic compound in which the hydroxyl functional group (–OH) is bound to a carbon.
Glycerol clearly meets this definition.

In order for it to catch on fire, the gaseous vapor needs to reach a certain temperature in the presence of sufficient air. Under normal vaping conditions, the combination of evaporative cooling and airflow prevents that from happening.

My limitless plus did this. I blamed it on too high wattage. And it happened when i was hitting it. Burnt my mustache a little. I never vape it above 80watts now. The cotton didnt burn, just the juice. And a bit of mustache. Youre lucky it happened with the cap off and you saw it before you put it to your face. I try to go with around .25 ohms at no higher than 80watts, no more fire. I almost nicknamed it the flamethrower till i figured it all out
