So the sidesho:

((Unboxing))

Got it 2 days after I ordered it, which was exactly how long it was supposed to take. The box it came in was very professional and well put together. Everything was where it was supposed to be and the tips & tricks page was a nice touch.

((PCC and the unit itself))

The pcc is very solid and from does it job well. It charged my battery from whatever charge it was at when I got it to full charge in about 45 minutes, which is pretty fast. All the lights operated like they should and everything I was supposed to get in the package came. The atomizers and the batteries are VERY NICE. The metal was very clean and blemish free, felt good in the hands, and all around felt very solid. I just wish I could have more than one atomizer in there at a time, but that should change pretty soon from what I understand.

((First puff))

This is where my questions start. I removed the empty cart that shipped on the bottom of the atomizer and replaced it with one of the tin foil prefilled carts. I gave it a primer puff and then a long slow drag as directed by most folks on this forum and pulled away with a GAG. I gave this a few more go's and all I do is gag when I take pulls on the device. I am under the impression that this is probably the primer fluid on the atomizer but I thought that this would dissipate pretty quickly. I am now on day 2 and it is still there and I cant even smoke it without gagging.

((E-juice))

I have not really had a chance to understand the taste yet because of the gag-inducing taste that comes out of the thing. I am a camel filter smoker and what do you guys think would be some good flavors for me to try? Are there any types of e-juice that dont taste like concert fog?

TL:DR this this is awesome, but does that nasty taste ever go away so I can actually enjoy it without gaggin? Good E-juice for me?

Thanks Guys. I want to enjoy the crap out of this little guy as fast as possible!

I just recieved my sidesho the other day and yeah same opinion here. The primer taste was so bad I was just about to throw the thing out. I gave it a good cleaning and that helped. I can honestly say I'm much happier today with the sidesho than yesterday, the atomizer seems to be breaking in as well as the batteries, I can now get a good 5 second drag. I only have two complaints, one the atomizer doesn't give good throat hit, although it may just need to break in more, and two the ejuice from modern vapor tasted horrible in my opinion, but truth be told I have only found one juice I actually like.

I used to smoke menthols, consequently I vape menthol pretty much exclusively because I enjoy the taste. Tony's menthol is very good, however I bought an assortment of liquids to test the waters. It's #1 on my list.

I was never a fan of the taste of regular cigarettes. What can I say, they were just nasty to me. That said, the pre-filled carts weren't good to me either, but I do use them in emergency situations (ie driving in traffic, and can't be distracted to drip :D)

I've heard regular tobacco smokers like B&H, have you tried it?

Also, try just putting an empty cart on and just drip the atomizer. One drop on either side of the wick will do for 10 or so puffs.

BackSlash: I got a 10ml bottle of B&H when I ordered and I am excited to learn what that will taste like. I want to give the double artic menthol from johnson creek a try . I have heard awesome things about it. I have not tried dripping yet but when I get home I will try it and post my findings.

kyivish: How exactly did you clean it?

Thanks Guys.

Nasty primer taste aside, I actually found that Blu/Volcano atomizers work well in the SideSho, and the 306A atomizers work very well in the SideSho. The benefit of the other two atomizers is that you can stack atomizer+carts into all the available slots. The other upside is that they seem to put out more vapor. The downside of course is that you don't get the extended SideSho cart capacity, which is huge. But since there is a nice slot which the SideSho atty+cart fits into, it works. So my SideSho setup is 1 sidesho atty+cart, and 4 blu/306a atty+carts. And I couldn't be happier.

I found the Modern Vapor eliquids to be awesome - my favorite of their flavor is Pineapple for its wonderful taste and vapor production. Cola is a close second, but MV's Cola version doesn't produce as much vapor as other manufactures.

Also, I don't think the default cart liquid is the same as the bottled liquid MV sells. But not sure...

Gosh I can't wait for MV's manual battery's... I'm so sick of taking my suck-until-your-cheeks-cave-in 510 manual out to loud events.

Cool deal, I haven't tried any of Johnson Creek's stuff but I did get a bottle of Dawnmarie's double menthol.... very awesome and strong flavor. I do need to cut that one though, I really wanted 24-ish mg/mL but she sent me 36, lol. Definite headrush. I've been sticking to Tony's 24mg menthol which is my fav.

I will say that it took me a few days of atomizer break-in and staying away from the analogs for me to really start to enjoy the taste. It seemed so weak at first but after my taste buds recovered from 15 years of analog smoke and the atomizer break in period was complete OMG... totally hooked :D

kyivish: I have no real idea about how to go about giving it a bath. Is it just safe to dunk the thing in peroxide? where exactly would you drip the peroxide?

Tl : DR - Could you explain to me the specifics of this cleaning action?

I have dunked the whole thing in peroxide. But I can't say it is recommended. I would put a couple of drops of peroxide on the bridge of the atty. This is the part where theres a fine wire mesh, the part that goes into the cart. Looks like a ^

Then blow on the battery. Blow directly at the led light until it comes on. Do this several times. You'll see a small amount of vapor form. Then unscrew the atomizer and rinse in flowing water to make sure you get all the remaining peroxide out. then dry, make sure it is completely dry before using, Blow through the atty to get any moisture out. I do this once a week with all my atomizers.

kyivish: That sounds like a plan. I will try that when I get home. If that is the magic bullet I will freak out. I will post my results when everything is said and done.

Thanks guys.

I use isopropyl alcohol and put it into a tea cup. Then I let it soak for about 2 hours while lightly shaking it every 10 min or so just to get the atomizers to bounce a little and shake off any residue. When done, I rinse it with water and let it dry overnight with the metal bridge facing down onto a paper towel.

In the morning after it is all clean and dry, drop a couple drops of your favorite eliquid to resoak it and proceed as normal.

Anyways, this proceedure has been recommended by alot of people on the forum. It has also been damned by alot of people on the forum... others suggest cleaning atomizers with cola and other chemicals, but those will leave a residue if allowed to evaporate so it seems counterintuitive. Other suggest boiling in water but I found it bounces the atty's around too much I think. But those are some other suggestions to try if the hydrogen peroxide trick doesn't work.

Always remember that atomizers are unique... no two are alike. You will end up with your 'favorite' atomizer and the most 'hated'... you may get one that will only work for a couple days and another that lasts a couple years... one that has a nice draw, and another that feels like a hole is clogged somewhere... one will absorb liquid better cause maybe the bridge is longer, another will require frequent topping off of the cart...

So if you are having a bad experience with one atomizer, try another! Then take all your 'hated' ones and return them. Some companies will allow you to return inadequate atomizers, some will even just send you a new one without making you return it (like Blu does with bad batteries). I'm not sure what Modern Vapor's return policy is on poor atomizers.

If you are going to soak your atty in alcohol, use Everclear. Should be available in any liqour store. Basically it's grain alcohol, but it is made for consumption, so it's better then isopropyl alcohol. It also drys very quickly and there is no need need to rinse with water. Just soak, dry, prime, and vape.

But for a new atty, there is really no need to soak. Just blow it out as best you can before even using it. Drip 4 drops of some good juice on the atty and let it soak in for 2 minutes. After a few puffs, whats left of the primer should be gone. Then it's just a matter of breaking in the atty.

I gave both cleaning methods a shot

((Peroxide and water))

I dripped a couple of drips on the wicking part and let it chill for a minute. I then hooked it up to the battery and gave it a couple of blows until it really was not producing anymore smelly vapor. I then washed it out for a while as specified and then blew it clean and let it dry infront of a fan for 30 minutes. I then dripped some ejuice on it and loaded up a cart.

I could still taste the nasty primer oil but it was not NEARLY as bad. I did not wretch and gag like before but I could still tell it was there. The vapor output was pretty weak but I imagine that in time it should get a lot better.

((Blow and Drip))

I took my second atomizer and blew on it as hard as I could about 30 or 40 times. I dripped 4 drops on the wicking and put an empty cart over it. I then primer pulled it and inhaled until it hit the shutoff. The primer oil taste was there and it was noticeable, but not nearly as bad as before. There was definately a lot more vapor from this atomizer than the other one, and I almost tasted something, I think. (My tastebuds are shot I am sure)

So it evals like this:

-- Before --

Atomizer 1 & 2 primer taste = 100% - Ejuice taste = 0%

Gags = Always

-- Atomizer 1 After peroxide and water --
Primer taste = 30% E-juice = Cant Tell
Gags = 1/10

-- Atomizer 2 After blow and drip --
Primer Taste = 40% E-Juice = maybe there
Gags = 2/10

All in all, the methods you guys described helped out TREMENDOUSLY. I hope both of these atomizers break in fast and I can really start to get what I want out of them.

TL : DR - All the methods helped, Thanks So Much.

:)!

So the sidesho:
TL:DR this this is awesome, but does that nasty taste ever go away so I can actually enjoy it without gaggin? Good E-Juice for me?

I managed to get around the primer nastiness by puffing gently (i.e., not inhaling) with the blank cart still attached to the atty. Once I could no longer notice much vapor coming off of it (about 4 puffs) I primed my atty with two drops of the juice I had ordered with it and that seemed to do the trick for both attys. I didn't have any residual taste after that.

As to good juice, I would say give the Turkish Blend from Good Prophets a shot. I used to be a Camel smoker as well (mostly Turkish Gold, Infused, and No. 9 with the occasional pack of unfiltered) and this seems to give me that familiar sweet Camel taste from the time before RJR started screwing with their formulations. Since you were a regular Camel filter smoker, you might find this a little too sweet for your liking so I'd recommend perhaps mixing it with something else like a Virginia blend to give you that slightly rougher edge and maybe get a more faithful replication the flavor you've grown accustomed to. If you try it, let me know how it works out for you! :)

Wow awesome advice. I put a refilled blu cart and atomizer on my sidesho batt and wow the vapor and throat hit was just simply awesome! Can't believe I didn't think of this.

Funny how one needs to buy three or four different e cigarette kits inorder to have the perfect ecig....well funny like ouch my bank account:p

just got my Sidesho, tried it, and did have some of that funky taste, but I cleaned them and drying right now should be good to go.

as for the whole buying a lot of e-cigs before finally settling on one or two; over the period of a year you could probably buy every type of e-cig and still spend less than you would with analogs.
