One of the issues with vaping oppose to smoking is the learning curve that goes along with it. Some devices are super easy to deal with, but the compromise is they may not provide a satisfying vape. I’d put RTA’s on the higher end of that learner curve, but once dialed in they can provide a very satisfying experience. There is always a compromise.
Given Cotton Bacon comes in large(ish) bundles that has to be broken down, it can be a challenge on getting a consistent amount each time. You will get the hang of it, just have to be patient and keep trying. There are also brands out there that make for easier wicking, such as Firebolt Cotton. These come in shoe lace type strips that are perfect for a 3 to 3.5mm coil. Tad more expensive than Cotton Bacon but you are paying for convenience and consistency. Again, always a compromise.
Japanese pad are extremely inexpensive in comparison to the “Vape” marketed cotton. I find these just as easy as the shoe lace type cotton for the pads are consistent in density and you can measure and keep track of each cut. With the pads that I use, I multiply the inner diameter of my coil by 4 and use that measurement to cut a strip. So a 3mm coil I will cut a 12mm strip. Just to note these pads come with a harder outside layer that should be removed being careful not to remove too much of the softer cotton underneath. Do this after you have made your cuts but prior to wicking your coil.
Among the different cotton I have tried, I don’t really find any to excel in flavour and or longevity. Haven’t tried Rayon, but curiosity has gotten the best of me and I have a small sample on its way.
