You did sorta jump into the deep end. But, it does work if you're patient. If you've scorched the cotton it's no big deal. Unlike a drop in coil you put in some fresh cotton and you're not out $3 for a drop in. Your coil should be cleaned off each time you wick. Simple way us rinse off any excess juice junk, dry burn, rerinse to get rid of any ash that may have been formed when dry burning, shake out and pat dry,, and put in fresh wick.

Honest, after doing that for a few weeks it'll be second nature and take no more than a few minutes. If you decide to use your other tank too that's fine. I usually rotate through a few tanks every day anyway, including one with a drop in mesh coil (which performs great). This is one of those patience is a virtue things. It's like riding a bike. But with metal and cotton. And prayers to the vaping fairy. The vaping fairy IS real. I don't care what others think. Works for me and that's what counts.

My personal results with rtas. Too much cotton results in reduced flavor. Too little cotton results in dry hits. Then there is the amounts in the channels or ledge, which for me is, if I dont have enough it results in a slight gurgle or weepage and if I have too much, again, reduced flavor.

Haven’t tried Rayon, but curiosity has gotten the best of me and I have a small sample on its way.

If you are stuck for a source of Rayon or even want to try it. Then Kotex U Sleek tampons (available everywhere) have an medical grade, top quality Rayon core.

You just have to skin and gut them. :D

Don't forget to skin and gut them.

I got into the habit of re-wicking a tank upon rotation (including cleaning) then moving on to the next tank. When i eventually come round to using that tank i'd rewicked (maybe two weeks later), and forgetting i hadn't primed the wick, i'd just fill up and start vaping. Huh !, the wick would instantly burn right through. Realising what i'd done i'd have to remove the deck and have a look. The wick is now in two pieces where it had burnt inside the coil, and i could just pull out each piece from either side of the coil. This can happen with just one second of power going to the coil and renders it completely useless.

These days i just clean, dry burn and move on.
