If you're inhaling smoke from something that's burning, you're damaging your lungs, no matter whether it's tobacco or "herbs" or anything else.

That is true, but by herbs I literally mean herbs, mullen, damiana, coltsfoot, etc. Not weed, I mean I do occasionally smoke weed like I said, but I would say weed if I meant weed, living in Canada with nationwide legal weed.

Back in the 70's they used to sell herbal cigarettes. I tried them once when I was trying to quit smoking. They were horrible. Really hot, burned the throat, smelled like a leaf fire. They didn't catch on.

Presumably they have improved over the decades, that was a long time ago. How does it work these days? Do you buy herbal cigs, or loose herbs specifically prepared for smoking? What are they like to smoke? I haven't heard anything about herb smoking lately.

Even if they are tolerable to smoke these days I would be a little nervous. The bad consequences of regular cigs come from the process of burning vegetation, production of tar and so forth.

I do see that there are some commercially produced ones out there, however they either don't ship to Canada, or are more expensive than a pack of regular cigarettes here even with the 70% excise tax on tobacco cigarettes.

The last pack of regular tobacco cigarettes I bought (Pal Mall Full, King Size, 25 pack) was $15.98. With the shipping even off amazon a pack of herbal would be at minimum $30.

So for this reason, I bought a 25g tin of a herbal smoke blend, and packed it into cigarette tubes, smokes just like a cigarette. Yes, they don't taste like tobacco, but they are smokables and enjoyable, at least with the blend I got. I guess it all depends on the specific blend. I hear Mullen specifically is often used as a tobacco alternative.

I was told by others after smoking them, that I smelt almost like I just smoked a regular cigarette, my fingers did certainly smell that way. I also did seemingly get a slight buzz from smoking the first one, just as if I smoked tobacco, though I didn't get a buzz with any I smoked after that.
