Well, lets assume you now know what to watch out for and what to use for certain juices. You have just made another step toward saving money.
Remember, when you smoked all you had left at the end was a crumpled package heading to thee trash bin.

Add Banana to your list of problem liquids if you like. Known to swell rubber/seals
Some problems are Vender specific as stated. I mixed Black and blueberry to use it up. Blackberry was to tart for me. No clearomizer issues after 20 ml.

I have been using EVODs that are polycarbonate and have been very lucky. I use Key Lime, Pina Colada, chocolate bases and lots of different tobacco blends and all tanks are still functional. I do have a Pro tank and have ordered the new Vision Victory with the glass 5ml tank. I have started putting the more dangerous juices in the glass tank and trying to save my EVODs from the problems. I didn't realize that the tobacco flavors would cause any problems. I will research!

I have even found that some juice will cause the rubber or neoprene gaskets on the protank to swell and fall apart. There seems to be some risk for all delivery systems.

Had that happen to one of my two evods... tried to find out more info by looking around the 'net... couldn't find that at all. Posted about it, everyone seems surprised LOL. Think mine was due to a orange flavor.

good to hear your not going back to cigarettes, it might be a good idea to get a VV mod that will show you what resistance your cartos are running and also you would be able to adjust the voltage to get better taste/vapor. I recently got into rebuilding my clearo,s (have not tried to disassemble a ce5 yet, but will when one dies) so I got a tesla (there are cheaper VV's out there) so I can see the resistance on my rebuilds. the ce5's I got are around 2.3 to 2.5 ohms. but hydras rebuilt are around 1.1 to 1.3 ohms. so having a VV i can change voltage to get better vapes.

The awesomeness of VV is out of my reach for now. The price is just too high at the moment.

I wish at least one of the several people I've talked to and/or bought from would have told me some things. I've gone from having 6 clearomizers down to two because I didn't know anything about what I was doing.

As far as I can tell, you're pretty much safe with any tank as long as you stick to tobacco flavors (except for RY-4). But as you start collecting more flavors and more clearomizers, make sure your tanks are polypropylene or Pyrex before you buy them. Don't buy polycarbonate tanks! They crack or cloud or melt if you put...well...damn near anything in them. I've had three clearomisers destroyed by juice. One by a blackberry/blueberry mix, one by a strawberry/citrus mix, and one by a strawberry/kiwi mix. The black and blueberry was the worst, as it melted the drip tip and caused massive leakage in the tank. And since I was new to this, I didn't realize that the leakage was so out of the ordinary.

So beware, fellow new vapers. Buy pyrex (glass) or polypropylene tanks, and vape away safely.

To be fair- I think the majority of the vets and others, and ecig suppliers do a great job here at ECF guiding new members.

There are a ton of tips and tricks involving the use of ecigs and no one can cover all that info for another.

If you're interested in purchasing an item, ask what the Pros and Cons are. People here are more than happy to put their 2cents in on damn near any subject- ecig or otherwise. :)

Get a rugged glass "cartomizer" tank, like a Phiniac, and skip the clearomizers altogether if you want less hassle, more consistency and a full draw instead of an airy draw.

Never heard of this. [enter into google, click on link] "COOL!" Definitely will look into these when I have a little money to spend. Phiniac makes neat looking stuff!

OP, I wouldnt lump Black and Blue together, or maybe it is vendor choice. My ADV is blackberry/tobacco. About 20% on the blackberry. I use the cheap tanks. I have never had a problem with this mix.

I have melted a couple from amaretto or cinnamon at much lower percentages.

From what I can tell, the blueberry is the problem. Haven't heard anyone having much problem with blackberry. But blueberry is known to melt drip-tips and some gaskets.

Absolutely! ECF members have been nothing but helpful in my quest for the perfect....well as close to perfect as I can afford right now...vape. It's the local retailers that I've had a problem with. Every time I've had a problem or a question, I've googled it and 90% of the time, I'm linked to an ECF post which answers my question. And if I don't find the answer here, I post it here. Part of my problem is that I didn't do any research before I bough my first PV. Got an ego battery with a CE5 and all I knew was "Hey, this will keep my from smoking!" Didn't even know that I had an ego batter with a CE5 clearomizer. And that clearomizer is still in use, as opposed to two G-Hit 2.5 ml tanks that I got a week later which are now toast, and one other "I don't even know what it is" with a crack in it because nobody told me about the potential problem, and I didn't think to ask before hand.

I learned to have a backup, always have backups, if you break it. your stuck to getting a pack of smokes.

so buy at least 2 devices, extra tanks/cartos, rebuildable heads if need be, CHARGERS! one for the house and one for the car!

I already ordered a Kanger Protank, 2 ego batteries, and 7 T3 tanks from fasttech last week, but they aren't here yet, and I've had 3 tanks die in a blaze of goopy glory since then. I've only been doing this since June 13th, so I'm still trying to get set up so I can finally spend less on this than smoking....assuming I can resist the urge to buy every cool thing or interesting flavor I see online.

GOOD ADVICE,OP!!! As im sitting here surfing the forum my freakin clearo is bubbling and sputtering hot liquid into my mouth, not making very much vapor, I got 2 new clearos 4 days ago and it seems they arent working very well already. I keep finding juice in between the clearo and my ego battery, keep cleaning it out and it keeps coming back. The tank part isnt foggy or anything and theres no external leakage but it just keeps gurgling when I try to hit it. I got a new blueberry flavor from myfreedomsmokes.com. maybe that is causing the problems. The other flavors I had before werent doing that. when I get paid in a week Im gonna get a nice big battery for home use and switch over to a pyrex rebuildable tank system. hopefully I can keep the supplies I got goin until then, Im 6 days without an analog and I would like to keep adding to that number :) Im also wondering if the current heat wave has anything to do with the leaking. Its been right around 100 here in montana for a few days and it seems to make my juice thinner and more prone to leaking... I didnt have any leaking problems before when it was 75-80 degrees. So its either the juice messing with my clearos.... or the heat.

Another thing new vapers should know.......1 carto=1 pack:lol:

Actually that has never been proven. your carto will last depending on what you vape and your nic level. and as long as you clean them. my cartos usually last about 2-3 weeks depending on the flavor and the amount I vape

    New vaper frustrations to be aware of;

    1) All liquid containers that have a hole in them will sooner or later leak, usually at the worst possible time & place.
    2) The droplet or two of liquid on top of the battery post is usually a combination of condensation and a tiny bit of juice from the warm vapor passing through a tiny hole then the residue cools inside the air tube and returns to liquid state which then drips down on top of the battery, you can dry this off a dozen times a day or once, doesn't matter.
    3) If juice aint running down the side of the battery into a puddle and the juice level isn't dropping rapidly it aint considered a leak.
    4) Most if not all delivery devices will flood and or leak when rapid temperature and altitude changes occur.
You'll notice this when going from a heated or cooled area to an outside temp 20 ~ 30 degrees different, after you clear the flooding it will happen all over again when you return to the heated or cooled area.
Flying with a delivery device in your pocket or luggage will usually result in a spot/stain wherever the device is located.
Driving across country and or through the mountains will make you lose your temper, up in elevation = flooding/leaking, clear flooding clean up leak, down in elevation = more flooding/leaking clear said issue and repeat.
A properly filled carto is about as leak proof as it gets. Even then re read #1.

Good info, Topwater Elvis. Thanks. Sounds like I need to get some cartos for traveling. I prefer clearos for day to day. But just to be clear, the leaks I'm talking about the the G-Hit tanks I had were MASSIVE. I was losing almost 2 ml/day just to leakage. And both of them lasted less than a week. And if I let either of them sit for more than a few minutes, upright or on their sides, I had to spend 5 minutes or so just clearing the liquid out of the tube so I could use them again without getting a mouthful of juice. Most plastic/acrylic tanks are designed to be ultimately disposable. Even the rebuildable ones will only last for so long before they need to be tossed. But you shouldn't have to replace them after only a few days.
