My son started vaping about one month after I did, which was purely coincidental. He was, I guess... around 24 years old at the time, living with his mother.

At some point later, within the first year, his mother called me - TOTALLY freaked out. He'd left a syringe sitting out, as he was rushing to get to work.

She wasn't thrilled when I laughed, but calmed down after I explained everything.

Funny, the stuff we vapers do. :vapor:

I remember going to Wal-Mart to buy a syringe... I asked for one syringe. The pharmacist thought it was weird I only wanted one, asked if I had diabetes. I was like no, I use it to fill my e-cig with liquid. He gave me the weirdest look ever... and I was nervous because I wasn't sure that I could just buy a syringe with a prescription or anything. He gave me the syringe though... cost me all of $.50

When I first went into DIY juice I went to the local vet cause I knew they had all kinds of syringes being a rural vet in a small town. Walking up to the counter with a handful of 1, 3, 5, 12, 20 and 60ml syringes with needles I got a eyebrow raised with this sour look on the girls face and I immediately thought "junkie". Whipped out my vape, gave them a short education that I quit smoking and use the syringes too measure to make juice, they changed to happy faces and proud I quit.
Newest game changer for me was getting 29gauge SS and kanthal then making a 29/34 clapton to replace the 30/34 I was making before. My 5 wrap 2.5ID spaced rayon build comes out to 1.4Ω...my happy place. The 30 gauge as core don't last very long cause the 30 wire degrades too quickly from being dryburned and the 28 I have to make a huge 3.5ID to get 1.4Ω that takes up all the airflow space in the STM RBA.
I also got some 38, 42, 44 and 46 gauge SS as wrap wire but still enjoying the 29/34 to start building with those ultra fine wire claptons yet.

Sorta like the time my sister found a bag of pipe tobacco in my car. She took it to my parents thinking she'd nailed me. They opened the bag, took a sniff and laughed their butts off. They were happy I was smoking a pipe rather than the cigarettes they sucked down.

I'm just sittin here toking on my White V2L+ and enjoying Life at 8 watts. Thanks @Brewdawg1181 for getting me to try the KayFun's. I didn't know just what I was missing. Game Changer ?? Maybe for me. KayFun mini V3, V3 Plus, V2L+ all fit me just Great.
Glad you found them, and like 'em, 52. :thumb:Which Kayfun is best for you?
V3 was my first, so I didn't try any of the earlier ones. Occasionally, I think about trying the Lite+, as many MTL'rs mention that as their gold standard.
Even though I'm using the Doggy & Ares, the KM3 is still my evening vape with cocktails. Nothing seems to quite hit the spot like it.

I hit my V2L+ more than anything now, but also use my V3 mini, V3 Plus, and still my Siren V1 daily.

Cocktails ?? I'm on heart med's so I'm stuck with Gatorade (Arctic Freeze for me), and when I'm a good boy, the wife lets me have a Twist Myst. ;)  :rickroll:

Kayfuns.....
It was my step up from the PT2 cause expanding my horizons with a thirst for more building capabilities that the PT couldn't provide no more with its limited build area.
Learned wicking mighty fast cause KF is no protank. Vaped kayfuns for long time enjoying broader range of building....STM killed everything and now KF and PT's get novelty builds when I feel like steppin back to remember.
I hated refilling the kayfuns, dreaded seeing low juice level cause I knew mess was to follow close. Juice film plays the difference when filling with a syringe(the only way I found to give reasonable success), soon as juice bubbles back through the fill, you've created a airlock...STOP..then suck a bit of juice back into the syringe, remove needle, blow into fill so its open an dont have film in there. The needle will pass through the film and the film will stay intact, blocking the air escape then leakage may happen. Blowing several times during refill the fill hole so no film blocks the air escape thats the area not taken up with the syringe needle.
I will say the Kayfun was a success and I learned better building to make the next step to the STM.

Ouch! That'd be tough. Vaping has done a great job of replacing my smokes, but I don't think there's anything out there yet that would replace a nice cold, home brewed IPA for me!

Guess I'll see about finding a Lite Plus, since we seem to have the same preferences in tanks. A quick look didn't find me any V2's, though. Not sure if it vapes much different than V3.

Okay, I remember when Kat started this after I'd posted a pic of an old MVP (I forget which thread), and she & a few others started reminiscing...but I never jumped in and shared for some reason. I'd forgotten this thread until 52 tagged me, so I've been missing the fun.

So even though it's late in the game now, I'll play: I got this in 2011 (why does the package look like it came from the 60's?), and didn't stick with it long, went back to smoking:
upload_2018-2-25_16-14-22.png

Then a few years later I confiscated this contraband from my young teenager (unauthorized purchase with my $), and I tried it & realized it was far better than the Njoy. But I only played with it a while, and never quit smoking. So it didn't exactly change the game yet, but the seed was sown....
upload_2018-2-25_16-16-14.png

March last year, I decided to quit 4/1, and didn't really think about vaping, until just before the day came. I was kind of nervous about being able to make it, so I thought I'd get a tank & some juice to use as a crutch. I went and bought a Nautilus 2 after researching to see what the best tank for me would be. Put it on the MVP, and it worked great - got me thru that first few weeks (with no cheating), so that was a game changer. and I realized I'd continue vaping, so I ordered the Zelos kit with another N2 tank.
upload_2018-2-25_16-21-59.png

But I found I really didn't like the juice I was getting, and PG wasn't really agreeing with me. I also I found I really like a fresh coil, and tired of buying them. So at the same time, I ordered my Kayfun 3 and DIY supplies.
Together, they changed the game for me, because I realized on a good rta, with great juice, I could do this and never go back to smokes.

I really never thought I'd vape more than just to get thru quitting initially, but hey - as you all know, it's exponentially safer, I enjoy vaping and the hobby aspect of it. I always loved smoking, but hated being a smoker. So vaping, whether I ever quit or not, is pretty awesome. I'd love not to have a habit of any kind, but this ain't so bad!

That's a Great post dawg. :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

I didn't quit because I or anyone else wanted me to quit, I quit by accident really (but others in my family really wanted me to and I was ignoring them). I loved smoking, alot. I had cut down to 1-pack a day just because of the price. When I started (at age 12 in 1962) the price was $0.17 a pack, and when I was in the Army I was paying $2.10 per carton, then in early Aug. of 2014 the price was $4.50- $4.75 a pack after moving up here to Minnesota from Arizona (I used to buy mine from the Indian Reservation when in Arizona cause they were cheaper there). My youngest daughter took me to a vape shop when I was visiting her in Ky. (Ft. Campbell), and had me try a Spinner II/EVOD2 combo. I walked out with one of each, plus all the accoutrements. I still have that left over pack of Marlboro's up in my closet, getting moldy, and long past stale.

When I came into vaping I went forward with newer gear (after learning a few things from here on ECF), but soon realized that going backward might be better for me to try, as what I was buying was too much Big Air/Big Power and I couldn't make all this newer stuff draw like I was so used to for 52 years. This is why I am now just learning about KayFun's. The one just before I thought to try the V3 mini (Thanks dawg) was a Berserker (and Thank You ricks), and I really liked it alot, but, not quite enough TH to really satisfy me. I'm all about TH it seems (I didn't know that TH was going to be so important in the whole equation, but it is), and that's why I always Inhaled my Cigars too (so when I say MTL, I mean like one smokes a cigarette/cigar, and not a doobie). ;)

So, ECX Nic (I started DIY'ing about a year in, and found the Nic with the most TH I could find), FA Flash (TH enhancer), and the addition of the KayFun V3 mini, V3 Plus (Thanks DPL & Kat), and V2L+ (Thanks Kat) are really hitting home for me . I could be very happy if I stopped right here, and I just might (with buying new RTA's that is, except for more KayFun's at the right price). I so love the Hobby aspect in this also, it gives me something to do with all my free time, and conversing with all you good folks to enhance my knowledge and build some new friendships.

Oh, I almost forgot, I use a "KayFill" to fill my V2L+, and not a mess to be seen and always full to the top (Thanks DPL).

Ouch again! Moving from AZ to MN, and can't have a cocktail in those MN winters??
Yep, TH rules for me, too. Everything else can be great, but no TH, no deal!
I thought I was the only one who inhaled cigars. In fact, when I went back to smoking in 2011, I refused to go back to cigs for a long time. I got tins of these little cigars, and would take about 2-3 days to finish one of them at first.
Stop right here?? Not so fast;)- I don't think I've seen you on the SXK Doggystyle thread, but that is one great little tank. Seems absolutely bullet proof in the couple of weeks I've been using it- no leaks, gurgles, condensation, not a single issue. And after dropping coil size to 2mm from 2.5, dropping it from .77 to .63 ohm (thanks @Dubminer !), TH is just about on par with the KM3. I haven't even touched the mini in 2 days. I think you'd really like this one! And it looks great on a P80, perfect pocket size.

Yea, my Jack shooters and Coke chasers would work out for me Great up here, especially when it gets to -20°F or -30°F. For someone that used to work outside in 120+°F weather down there, coming up here was quite a Shock. My Arthritis locked up on me at about the Iowa turn off when we drove up here in late Nov. 2007, and I'm still looking for the key.

There ya go again dawg, and now miner too, tempting me with another Great atty. Is that the one you have to empty to re-wick ?? I have seen nothing but Good things posted about the Doggy, and for quite some time now. Should I give it a look , Hmmm , just for the fun of it I might, BUT, I won't buy, No, No . Right now my KayFun's are doing Great , but I will look at it.

No, I wouldn't touch a tank like the Hastur, if you've got to dump to rebuild. It is top fill, but it's a piece of cake.
And just a look? Yeah, right....let me know how you like it! :)
If you don't, I'll take it off your hands, because I'm gonna need another.

Edit - Dub correctly pointed out that I meant the tank is BOTTOM fill!
