I only noticed this morning but what a clever little trick the little rubber pin on the AFC ring is, allowing it to move freely and yet not be loose.

:):):)

I have no idea how any of these were sold or anything else like that, but mine came straight from mark and it wasn't just the 18500 tube, it was built as a WE II M and came with a dna30 in it. he did say it was a rare and special one but I didn't really think much of it at the time, maybe they were never sold?, I honestly have no idea. coulda sworn I remember him telling me he made 13 of these, maybe they were never actually sold though

paul, to me the positive screw does look too high in these shots, I'd say try installing the deck and tank with no coil and the screws down all the way, see if it shows shorted, if not then raise the pos post 1/2 a turn each time and try again to see exactly at what point it does touch

I knew the rubber pin was there dems but thought that was to stop the ring turning to far, I didn't realise there was a metal pin as well.

MB ticked every box with this one.

I just did my second build on the GEM, 6 Wraps 30 awg Tempered from Lightning Vapes.

Caveat: Because of the apparent joose efficiency, real or imagined, be sure to check and clean the vapor chamber--cutip . It showed gunk that would normally appear on the coil and in the evaporation chamber (say in a kayfun 4).

Still on the SX Mini 350J.

Given the perceived efficiency it pays to consider lowering the temperature and wattage (in TC mode). I went down to 18 Joules at 390 F on a 0.118 coil for excellent flavor.

No coil with screw all the way in my VS reads "check atomiser"

Half a turn out on the posi screw and it reads "check atomiser"

1 full turn out and it reads "0.04" which I am guessing is where the posi screw touches the chamber.

1.5 turns out and the deck doesn't go all the way home.

I am not sure how that compares with others but guessing half a turn out is not enough gap for 28/26g ?

Q, I have no doubts that Mark will honour a replacement in good time but didn't want to think about that until I have exhausted every avenue incase it is my mistake.

I have sent the latest info to MarkB and he has been corresponding so I am all good.

The test that turbocad suggested is a good method of comparing to other Gems tolerances and may highlight or eliminate the potential problem.

If you really really really don't want to wait to send it back and wait for mb to send another one, you can try to file that screw down a little. Shouldn't take much to fix it. Plus you would be able to vape on it right away. If it doesn't work, I'm sure mb won't reject your warranty off of modifying a tiny little screw.

Wow, this is the first expensive atomizer I've coveted. There aren't many atomizers out there that cater to conservation and flavor condensing. Too bad It's far, far out of my vape budget.

You'll spend a lot on other cheap atomizers trying to nail even one good thing the Gem delivers on, so tis better to spend more on one that delivers top notch performance all around. ;)

AFAIK, WE-II in 18500 were also never sold. MB never produced an 18500 version of the DNA30 Wizards. It's "M" size ended with the DNA20. However, MB had 'gifted' an 18500 "tube" to few during 'pre-sales' of the WE-II via VaporWall.

What Q said.

Given the direction atomizers are evolving it's probably a safe bet that this will be the category champion for some time. I've stuck to my vape budget for seven months, if I blow it now I'll never go back. Maybe I'll just start saving it, but even then its doubtful I'll get one.

Any chance MB would do something similar to the Erlprinz? Manufacturer sponsored lites are really the only realistic option to deescalating the clone wars. I wouldn't scoff at spending like $100 on one of these but his price point is a bit outlandish.

Which "quality" atomizer (RTA) comes for $100?
Factor in MB's "free shipping" (UPS at that) = $25, plus spares/accessories = $50, you're then getting The GEM for actually under $100 :p

I didn't get any spares, or are you talking about the extra glass tank? I think the $50 estimate might be a little off on that alone, but it's definitely a plus in my book [emoji14]

I think it's well worth the money, no doubt, awesome atty :)
