i have been using nife52 in the gems for months and still have the resistance issues. Its nothing to do with the wire (at least on mine), its the 510.For those who are dealing with all the frustrations with TC on the GEM I would suggest you try nife48 28g wire from zipvf. Maybe its sold from other vendors however when I purchased in November this was the only place I could find it. I believe this stuff is the same as nife52.
I have tried just about every other tc wire before this and was ready to give up on the GEM with TC. It was always a similar story, crazy ohm jumping, low ohms, coils touching, shorts, coil touching deck sides, etc.
I use 6 wraps, pulse just like kanthal until its glowing from the inside out. This leaves plenty of room, no issues with coil touching the side due to spacing, etc. I currently have this same build on both the SX Mini M Class at .30 ohms and Vapor Flask Lite at .32 ohms. Also, Nife will require manual TCR supported device, at least that is what I understand. In my opinion the vape quality on the GEM is as good if not better than one of the few times I actually got a good NI200 coil working on the GEM. I have been using these coils consistently for the last 2 months on 2 separate gems, not a single problem.
Also, you can vape nife30 and 52 quite happily on a dna40 if you want with a suitable temp offset. If you have Ti mode, then the offset is less but needs to be higher rather than lower...but not by much, maybe 30F or so!
