For those who are dealing with all the frustrations with TC on the GEM I would suggest you try nife48 28g wire from zipvf. Maybe its sold from other vendors however when I purchased in November this was the only place I could find it. I believe this stuff is the same as nife52.

I have tried just about every other tc wire before this and was ready to give up on the GEM with TC. It was always a similar story, crazy ohm jumping, low ohms, coils touching, shorts, coil touching deck sides, etc.

I use 6 wraps, pulse just like kanthal until its glowing from the inside out. This leaves plenty of room, no issues with coil touching the side due to spacing, etc. I currently have this same build on both the SX Mini M Class at .30 ohms and Vapor Flask Lite at .32 ohms. Also, Nife will require manual TCR supported device, at least that is what I understand. In my opinion the vape quality on the GEM is as good if not better than one of the few times I actually got a good NI200 coil working on the GEM. I have been using these coils consistently for the last 2 months on 2 separate gems, not a single problem.
i have been using nife52 in the gems for months and still have the resistance issues. Its nothing to do with the wire (at least on mine), its the 510.
Also, you can vape nife30 and 52 quite happily on a dna40 if you want with a suitable temp offset. If you have Ti mode, then the offset is less but needs to be higher rather than lower...but not by much, maybe 30F or so!

thanks to this thread & recommendation from @h00ligan and @Unior, i got my self a GEM.

seems like i am the only few that liking it on 30ga kanthal
i normally do 2-2.5sec short mouth to lung pull.
2.5mm, 6 wraps, 1.6ohm @ 17w and airflow close a bit.
wick it with ... cotton h00ligan-style.
FLAVOR!! this one is truly a keeper.

its on par if not, notch better than my nectar micro rdta which i think its a flavor monster already.

i have no issue with build quality so far thou i been only using it for a month.
mine came with the spare kit bundled.

its time to sell all my other rta.

In response to the finish of the titanium gem with the unfinished rectangle and other parts where the finish is not uniform. this is what Mark Had to say as well as regarding the shipping and scratches on the brand new titanium gem.

----/
"Yes..was deliberate, each pcs is finish individual and in some case this appear.

I understand about this scratch, we receive feedback from customers regarding shipping and loose parts and from now on we will use some material to add inside the case to be sure it will not loose on transit."
.....
I feel like I need to send a bunch more photos and confirm he understands what I'm saying. That the parts where there is no finish are supposed to be there. But that was a rely to the confirmation so it seems he means that leaving parts unfinished is by design.

If so it's a poor choice vs uniform finishing to me.

I think maybe he's trying to say it's unavoidable rather than deliberate.

Better packaging is a win. By better packaging I mean Parsi f inside the time and by better I mean more protective.

I'm going nuts trying to order wire from that zipivf site. Every time I try to check out it errors and creating accounts (2so far) it keeps saying this and the order winds up 40% more expensive.

I ordered 50 meters because hey. I don't want to pay shipping again. $20 for wire is pretty dear but people swear by this stuff. Hopefully by the time I run out its widely available.

Don't forget about he beadalon wire holders that prevent despooling 25 on Amazon for like $15 I think or 3 for $7

I've had my ti gem now for a couple of weeks, no issues at all with the finish, just like my ss one.
Seems to need a little less cotton than the ss one or I get a dry hit. Both used on two WAe's at about 17 watts. I've found the ti gem is a much airier draw than the original, is it down to the larger juice holes? If it is, I need to drill out the ss one pronto!

I would also like to try the metal tanks! How do you know when to stop filling and when you're out of juice? Would love to see a little window in there!

The way the air pushes out it will bubble up slightly and if you stop it will Sort of sick back down. As far as running out - well that's where temp control is handy. Other than that you check your flavor. Should be able to taste it going dry

I'd have thought it was the opposite. I have to say I've been curious if the clone is any good but I know this isn't the thread to ask that ;) based on forum reports not really. I'd imagine based on my clone experience the gem isn't good. He more intricate the worse it is usually.
Authentic Ti on Ti, clone on mini volt with 5/64 juice holes vapes identical.

Wow. That looks very similar. The deck screw is different iirc ?

@ronholland Regarding less cotton on the ti. I'd say it's he other way round

I can use more cotton on the ti without dry hits and have to pare down on the stainless.

Did you just get s clone to see if you liked it or did you have the authentic first?

After wasting a TON on clones I stopped for a while. End up losing less buying and selling auhentics and they work Properly. That said I'm not against them and he ones that work - great. Also when a company rips off another companies ideas then gets cloned and cries about it to me they get what's coming.

That's good. In the Brit thread I hang out in we were talking about how bad pricing js on most things there. I think the sunshine polishing cloths are 3x the piece back home as they are here.

I got the clone first, but drilled out after getting authentic.

What are your thoughts so far ? How does temp control work with the gem?
I actually haven't used it yet. I build a 0.9 ohm coil for my Gem and other then rewick it I haven't tried it out yet.
