You have a lot of options that DON'T come up a lot when people are recommending VV devices.
If a screen is one of your bigger priorities, mods come to mind that aren't very mainstream these days.

The Diamante from VaprLife...Quality-Crafted Electronic Cigarettes Designed & Built In The USA
The Diamante came out a bit after the Provari came out.. But at the time, it was a big player. MANY mods have come out and been lost, simply because forum members tend to go with the most popular mods. The Diamante has a screen similar to the Provari, but it is actually multicolored rather than having a single color to choose from, with expensive limited editions. (Provari) The Diamante's screen is Red, Blue, Green, & Yellow, or you can choose a Blue, Red, or Green single colored screen at checkout. The Diamante used a 16340 battery, OR, two stacked CR123A batteries, obviously stacked in succession. The Diamante has many of the safety features that the Provari has, including thermal monitoring AND automatic thermal moderation/shutdown. It is regulated by Pulse Width Modulation like the Provari. Although it has many of the safety features of the Provari, I don't believe you can check your atty ohms. What it DOES do that the provari does not, is it actually shows you the LOADED voltage. So it will show you the voltage that it is giving you with a load on it. Which is kind of weird, because, most devices do not do that, and there-for we are USED to unloaded voltage. So you may set it to 3.7 volts with a carto tank on top of it, and it may seem a bit more powerful than 3.7v on a provari, simply because the provari's 3.7v under load is automatically lowering the voltage under load without you seeing/knowing it. :) All in all, the Diamante is a great SCREENED Variable Voltage Device.

The Volcano Lavatube V2- Buy E-Cigarette | Safety Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarettes
The Volcano Lavatube V2 is another fantastic VV device with an LED display. It will check your voltage, tell you your ohms, you can turn it on, turn it off, you can do just about everything you can do with a provari on the Volcano Lavatube 2. Its a MUCH better build quality compared to the original lavatubes and the lambo designs. Has all of the safety features that the Provari has as well as far as I know. No device has the accuracy checks that the Provari will perform for it's entire life from what I have heard. As far as it's internals, it's wavelengths are getting great reviews from the techy reviewers so I'm sure its a great vape and a good device on the inside. As far as the outside, the lavatube 2 is now pretty much on par with other device in it's price range such as the Evic, the Smax, and the Zmax. It is not vw. The button, screen, and the 2 buttons on top are of pretty good quality. Checks your ohms, your everything. Good VV device w/1year warranty.

You've also got the Innokin Itaste- Good little eGo-sized VV PV. Neat little VV device. Not of the best quality but its a nice small to mid sized variable voltage device, one of the only SCREENED variable voltage devices in both its price & size classes. Some kits come with adapters to use any 510 carto/atty set up with them, but if your kit does not, you'll be using the included proprietary tanks until you buy yourself the proper adapter(s) so... there you go. that is the main weakness of the innokin Itaste. It needs an adapter to use 510 products. It does look very slick and it is the device of choice for many female vapors simply because it looks so cool/cute. Its square, compact, and good quality.

The Smoktech Vmax is a variable VOLTAGE device with NO variable wattage. It does come in stainless steel from what I remember. This is one of my, if not my most favorite, mass produced, LED SCREENED, variable voltage devices (from what I've heard, I haven't owned one) when compared to the provari. Its made of good quality and its got all of the safety and regulation features of the Zmax, in a cheaper, Variable VOLTAGE package. Very nice middle of the road mass produced device with good build quality. Its been accepted as a nice device.

The Smoktech Gripper is a box type variable voltage mod thats made of plastic. Its not a bad mod and a LOT of people swear by them. Smoktech's variable voltage quality is generally considered as pretty good. I'm sure it has good safety features and regulation on par with mods in it's price range. Not as good a regulation as the provari, but close.

As far as things with variable wattage AND variable voltage, and using the larger 18650 batteries (or stacked 18350s) you already know your options I'm assuming. You have the Smax, the Zmax, the Anyvape, the the Vamo, the eVic, the Janty MiD eGo which is a pretty cool new device that you can get on a pre-order list for now, shipped early March.... Uhmmmmm......

You have the new Smoktech Groove mod, which is a box mod with a screen that does both variable wattage and variable voltage. I believe its a plastic mod but I'm not sure. Its shaped like a box. I'm sure the quality of the outside and it's insides are on par with other smoktech devices, at least for the innards.. As far as the plastic body.. Plastic CAN be durable, if its done right. And I'm guessing that the new Groove is good quality. I'm sure its on par with the VV Gripper or better.

If you would consider going with something without a screen, the variable voltage Reo Grand = My recommendation. I love reos. You can send them in for repair, you can send them in for replacement, for cleaning, whatever you need fixed will be fixed. The customer service is UNPARALLELED. The guy/team that makes the Reo mods are on the forum. They have personally talked with me here on the forums on many occasions and the mods are built like bomb shelters. The CS + Build Quality + Care in build + technology = On Par With Provari. You can use them as a bottom feeder with either atomizers, cartomizers, bottom feeding rebuildables, or virtually anything with a 510 connection. The Reos are one of the best stealth mods because they can be used with a small atomizer and drip tip in the palm of ur hand.

The GLV2 with a Kick Module would be another US made, high quality mechanical mod + Kick option.

The Buzz Pro, as I have heard it, has similar regulation to the Provari--- Which means the Buzz Pro will keep itself tuned up over time.

The Variable Voltage Saber Touch would be another HQ USmade, SCREENLESS option. The Saber Touch is also 1 of the most customizable mods on the market today. You can order one with a VV chip, or you can order one to be used with a kick if that is what your interested in. The STouches are some of the highest quality mods out there and they are built for war, they are built like TANKS and they'll easily take an arrow to the knee, for sure. I've even heard stories of people dropping them from balconies and picking them up only to vape again.

Any of the higher quality mech mods would be a great SCREENLESS choice when paired with a Kick. The KICK module, which can be had for under 60 dollars, has the same PWM technology that the provari does inside of it, and that means it CONSTANTLY checks itself to make sure it is giving you the right voltage and wattage. It isn't doing a calculation at the time you set it, its constantly checking itself, just like the Provari does, to ensure that you are vaping at the voltage you tell it to vape at.

Any kicked mod, or variable voltage mod with no screen, can easily be metered out. A meter can be had for 15 bucks these days at Madvapes right now, or any vape superstore or mod spot. Atty ohm meters or scopes can be had for 15 to 20 dollars as well, and you can obviously get both in 1 meter for around the same price if you look around. 15 to 30 dollars for a scope down the road turns any device into a screened device, right? haha. I firmly believe a good mech device like the GG, the Super-T mods, the Legacy, or even a hybrid mod such as a Zen, Ihybrid, ect ect, will give you one of the best variable voltage devices (AND Variable Wattage, with a kick) to be had today. The Kick's quality is = to Provari's technology. And for just 15 bucks more you can look at your voltage on a meter, or check your ohms on a scope for $30 more.

Thats what I got. Hope I've helped not only you, but others interested in a nice VV or VW mod to pick up. Enjoy!

Got a cheap mechanical to see what Kicked mods was all about. Found I liked that for my carto tanks, but getting into RBAs now and finding what I want now is a really nice mechanical mod. :2cool:

IMO nobody who vapes should be without a nice kick able all mechanical mod whether you kick it or not with easy access to the kick.

Hmmm a Precise with a Kick seems like a nice option, after all once you set it (sounds like you aren't going sub 1.0 Ohms) you can use any resistance and you're good.
Other than that, I'd be happy with my Reo VV Grand... you just cannot beat a Reo imo... (except if you like Geni's at ultra low resistance).
I've been a Provari guy since they came out too. I'll always have one, and the V2 is a good step imo.

Actually my favorite device is the iHybrid and yes once you get good wicking, its amazing what ultra low resistance can do ... unreal. Unreal vapor and flavor... I think this is the new trend and Provari etc will suffer eventually or get on board with a sweet mechanical that can handle the load.

Over Der
Just so we all know what I mean by hard on them so everyone will understand I don't abuse. I dang near completely wore off the cerakote finish on a black mini just from pocket carrying for 8 months. No dents or dings, at all just no finish left & that doesn't bother me. It's just adds character & shows I def use my stuff. Ill get it figured out. Thank you all for the excellent suggestions.

oh i understand that all too well,,one fell out of a moving vehicle ,no damage,,another one dropped two stories 510 end first,,battery impact pushed the circuit board up 1\4 inch .both of them still worked perfectly afterwards,

they have had a lot of oops incidents but those two are the worse ,,so far

So I've been a loyal Provape customer & have bought at least 6 or 7 Provaris within the last year. Quality is top notch but after a issue I'm dealing with ATM with customer service I think I may be done with them. So can some of you collectors of mods recommend me something high quality with features like the provari & a quality build that I may need to check out? Not really interested in any of the Provari clones or copies but something else that is dependable & quality built. I'd also like for it to use 18350 batts if at all possible.

Wow Im sorry to hear that... Ive been dealing with Provape since their begining over 3 years ago and have always found their customer service to be top notch... Its hard to find anything that can match a Provaris perfomance and build quality...good luck to you...

So true. I'm bouncing off the walls right now for one of those Precise ELA telescoping mechanicals. Polished with brass accent rings and the Kick extension sleeve. :toast:

With durability and dependability your biggest factors, Im seeing TONS of PV's that arent going to fit the bill for you being mentioned in this thread.

I'd suggest a REO or one of the new billet box mods...that thing looks like its built like a tank.

* do a forum search on any of the mods mentioned here that strike your fancy, and note the complaints.Even a Provari is going to have issues occasionally but you'll see that some have far more than others.
