Hi All,

Just looking for a bit of advice regarding my AFS v2.

I've been using it happily for a number of months now, but recently I've notice intermittent vapour production. One minute it will give a nice Throat hit and vapour, but the next the performance drops off. The only way I can get the performance back is to unscrew the top and the re-seal it.

At the same time I've noticed that any e-liquid that comes into contact with the o-rings turns a horrible black colour. I clean the device quite regularly. This a bit disturbing as I don't like the thought of vaping this black liquid.

So I'm starting to wonder if my o-rings and atomiser
need replacing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jet

A good cleaning and putting some Vaseline on you O Rings always helps, and just having a nice clean unit is always good, if these things don't work I would most definitely swap out my O Rings for a new set, they are cheap to do.

Vaseline will attack rubber and shorten the life of an o-ring as its petroleum based .

Best use Silicone O-ring lube its food safe and guess what It's designed for o-rings when applying you only need to make the o-ring shine / wet look .

Where as Vaseline was designed for .........................
well i will leave that bit to you imagination .

For those of you that would like to educate yourself more on O Rings the Parker O Ring company is a world leader in O Rings and this is there handbook. There are Silicone Oils that are used for some O Ring applications but I don't want an oil in my GGTS or want to vape oils. I still choose to use Vaseline as it will not break down under the temps that the GGTS/AVS will reach and makes for the best all around Lube in my opinion. The united states Military still uses Vaseline for many applications but the Parker O Ring handbook is a great reference point if you want to learn about O Rings and how to make them seat properly in different applications.

Thats an oil  not lube,,,, lube is a grease as used on Divers Breathing apparatus,
and is non toxic and is far better at tempertures than Vaseline .

Parkers is for Hydrulics , better looking at a diving site being they are doing the same as us SUCKING ON A PIPE ,,,
Rather than using it as a Crane , JCB..ETC...

Silicone Lube

AN NGLI#12 GREASE IN COMBINATION WITH SELECTED DIMETHYLPOLYSILANE SILICONE BASE FLUIDS THICKENED WITH AN INERT SILICA FILLER. EXCELLENT DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES,HIGHLY WATER REPELLENT,RESISTANT TO OXIDISATION, NON-TOXIC, NON-MELTING & RESISTANT TO A WIDE RANGE OF CHEMICALS MAKING SUPER LUBE AN EXCELLENT LUBRICATION FOR RUBBER & PLASTIC COMPONENTS, TEMP RANGE -40F TO 500F.
SILICONE GREASE USED SPARINGLY HAS MANY USES: IT IS AN EXCELLENT WAY TO ASSIST IN THE ASSEMBLY OF ALL RUBBER SEALS, ESPECIALLY O'RINGS,LUBRICATION ON DIVING EQUIPMENT.
HELPS WITH SEALABILITY IN VACUUM AND HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEMS.

OK Arry, I saw the silicone lube on the parker site and thought it was the same as what you where talking about, there is still good info on the Parker O Ring site and all about O Rings. The GGTS doesn't get anywhere near hot enough to have to worry about temps thats for sure, I don't think we have anything to worry about as far as heat goes. I also don't think Vaseline will ruin our O Rings before they wear out from simple use and it is a simple household item that will work rather than buying and looking for this special grease, though I'm sure if you have this grease it will work great too. most customers I think would be easy for them to use the Vaseline since it's in there Med cabinets in there houses and will do the job.

I believe Vaseline HAS MANY USES: IT IS AN EXCELLENT WAY TO ASSIST IN THE ASSEMBLY OF ALL RUBBER SEALS, ESPECIALLY O'RINGS,LUBRICATION ON DIVING EQUIPMENT.
HELPS WITH SALEABILITY IN VACUUM AND HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEMS as well. I think either one will be fine for the GG units to tell the truth in my opinion, don't want to turn this into an argument buddy, your grease is great too and probably better but harder for most to get there hands on and more expensive to buy a whole tube for a small application when most have the Vaseline in there Med cabinet don't you think Arry
