I actually lost sleep last night thinking about one of these. I have several rebuildables and just can not stand it any longer and want to add the GG Penelope to my collection. I go to COV first thing this morning to place an order only find they are again on "Notfiy Me" status. Dang it! I hope they can get these back in stock sooner than later.

Just got my Penelope today. Assembled everything properly and filled it up with juice but I am getting a metallic taste. I can taste the juice, but there is definitely a metallic undertone there...what can I do to get rid of that flavor? Is it just a break in period that happens with each new coil? I just used the wire that came with the unit and the silica wick. Soon I will be using 34 AWG nichrome wire with .999 silver NR wire and cotton wick, just waiting on the parts. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Some people are more sensitive to metal as I am. I could taste a slight metallic taste with the wire that came with my Penelope and I can still taste a slight metallic taste with the .32 ga Kanthal that I'm using now. It might go away for you when you break it in but it hasn't for me. I have some Nichrome to try next.

For me, it's really bad when the are more than one or two hot spots that aren't getting juice. When you limit the dry spots on the coil, it seems to get better. I've found, also, that it tends to get much better after the coil accumulates some of the gunk on it.
