Your on. Tx had some stunners last summer. I do follow a pro group, at least pro enough to give instructions.
I need to look up the name. They aren't focused on tornado's, it's just that they became topical this year,
2. No one really knows how many are in AZ because so many areas are that rural. So they are starting to look for weather in an effort to find out if we do have them. Sounds kinda goofy, but there's a lot of uninhabited, VERY difficult mountains here, "sky islands".
3. We do have microbursts that do terrible damage very tornado like but aren't tornado's. They are exactly the opposite and there's no way to predicte them. Notta. No radar helps. It's a miracle there isn't more loss of life.
4. Lightening strikes do kill and AZ can top the number / hour that's countable. Only Florida is worse.
5. Flash floods are killers too. Every year. They can come down a freeway. An inch of water can float a car away. The rain can be miles away so they can appear for no reason. They are a mess. That's what most of the storm chasers are after because they are so dramatic. You Tube has a few good videos.
6. HABOOBS. We have those. Sometimes daily. The sky goes black in the middle of the day. You can't see the front of your car and it's fast. There's been 17 and 24 car pile ups thanks to those. Those aren't well understood either.
7. I freaking love the monsoons. July thru August is my favorite time of year here. The winds start about 2 or 3 pm, then the rain or drama and by 5pm it's all over. Everything is clean and fresh again. The smell of mesquite and lightning is exotic. Then fabulous skies with sunset due to all the particles in the air.
Az is the only desert in No. America with 2 rainy periods, summer and winter. There's 4 worldwide, S. Africa, W. Australia, Sonoran which includes Copper Canyon in Mx and S. of San Diego/Rockey point. Those areas are bio hot spots, supportng more species of life than anywhere else in the world. That includes Hawaii, Calif and Florida.
There's a lot of misperception about this desert. It's not arid. It depends on what side of the mtn your on. Clouds drop rain on the down side and that side can get 24"/year. The upside will get 2 to 4"/year. The average sounds arid but there are spots that look like the pacific NW they are so green, mainly southern AZ.
We have jaguars and ocelots. Mtn lions in the city. Hawks and bats. Coati.
GET A LAWYER. I've known people who had to fight for worker's comp. That's why they are being squirrely with your work history. It's not in your favor. They have lawyers whose job it is not to give anything. You need one too.
The turnpike is like an expressway with exits far far away. We have a caliche that bulldozers can't break through. There is little chance of any building or tree having a basement or deep roots. Think clay + sand = concrete. Many homes are concrete. Tucaon still has a number of buildings with 24" walls. That's the way they used to build 'em.
Nothing so humbling. I just know more about undertow's, leaches, hypothermia and octopi.
Yippee!

I vote to post to google docs. That way if someone comes across an archived thread, it's still there.
