Didn't mean to come off sounding like a condescending wench but I did not realize ya'll were Storm Surfers,,,,...I mean...I lived off the grid in AK for 10 yrs ...It
OK, I'll start collecting the pieces and reconstruct it (it was in forum format for the cow forum and I can't seem to find my archived MS Word version). We have blog ability here within this forum? I didn't know that. Will have to check that out. Of course, I suppose Google/Twitter/etc. can steal it from there too, huh? So, @Shawn Hoefer , what do you think about using you as a fall-back position?Personally, I think it would be really GREAT if "You" shared this information with everyone and do not see there being any problem with "You" posting it the thread either . . . NOR - Do I believe that "GMO" would mind . . . However, before "You" do - may I suggest that maybe @Shawn Hoefer might be willing to host the document on his website for Ya' or that "You" post it as a "Blog" here on ECF (which "You" can delete later) and then provide a link here in the thread . . . AND - If neither of these options will work, then "You" have "My" Permission . . .
Can you show us the picture? (oh, purdy pleese...)Tornados? Yuck! I did win a Colorado Press Association award for a photograph of one that hit Limon, CO as we were leaving in a hurry.
That's pretty much the way we look at wind out here on the Prairie too. I would guess we have maybe a total of 10 days a year that it is dead calm (usually when the temperature is over 100 *F). The rest of the time, the wind is blowing. If it is under 20 mph, we consider that a light breeze (I was really annoyed by that when we first moved here, but ya just get used to it). It is "windy" when it exceeds 40 and VFW (very F'ing windy) when it exceeds 60.We used to joke that we used logging chains as a wind sock. If the chain was pointing straight out, it was breezy. If links started popping off the chain, it was getting windy.
You got that right. If we'd spend as much money trying to understand our planet as we do throwing garbage into space (like we're every actually going to be able to migrate there), then maybe we could position ourselves to properly utilize and co-habitate with Nature.Weather is still in it's infancy as a science. There's a lot of discovery by amateurs. In general, the earth is under studied.
Katz, honey, even outside of storyland, that statement is valid. Back a zillion years ago, when I managed a group of people, one of my employees told me I was the best manager she ever had. I said thank you and asked why she felt that way. "Because you told me up front that I can do anything I set my mind to and you believed in me." That's the way I look at everyone in life... if you think you can, or if you think you can't, you're absolutely right. Those who think they can always (sooner or later) move forward. There's prob not much we can't do when we put our heads and our hands together
