I got the weather alert that 3 tornado's touched down in san diego. How do you "take cover" in an area like that? I follow storm chasers here and this year there's been super cells all over the place, way past monsoon season. Same thing. There's no place to go. Nobody's prepared. The first time I went to minneapolis, there were tornado warnings "this is not a watch" on the hotel tv and they list the counties. I have no idea what county I'm in. "Take USUAL precautions". What are those? I still have no idea. So I go to the windows to see if I could see anything and suddenly they start rattling as if they are going to break. Uh oh. There's no cars on the freeway either. I raced downstairs to the resturant to see what everyone else is doing and it's ho hum, just another average day.

One time in Kansas, I said to my coworker "that's a weird cloud" and he freaked. Drove 9O mi/hr to get off the turnpike, then told me it was a tornado cloud. I've seen pics and movies, but I didn't recognize it. I told him I wanted to chase it. I'll never forget the look on his face. Ok, I guess I don't. Although I really do. I may get the chance yet.

I hope someone I know wins the lottery.

Good morning, everyone. The rain woke me up.

So I guess school buses are a thing of the past anymore?

There is one--that parents fought to get this year to specifically help out for kids from our area. But it does cost money... and there is a waiting list.

The warnings that came over the phone were the talk of the town, that's for sure.

@Slowone2 . . . First - Were "You" still receiving any pay checks from the company after the accident . . . If so, when was the last one . . . If Not, when did they write or call "You" to tell Ya' that "You" were terminated . . . Now if they did this then "Your" last day of employment was one of those dates respectively . . . Another option would be the last Date you worked before "You" started to collect Disability/Unemployment Benefits . . . Last - but surely not the least, might I suggest that you submit the dates in a letter in the following manner:

As requested, the following is all the information that I have and can get from my past employer/s at the time of my accident. The following Dates are on or approximate: Date of Accident: 00/00/000; Last Date of Work: Same as Accident 00/00/0000; Date of Last Paycheck: 00/00/0000 and Date of Termination Letter (or Phone call): 00/00/0000 (Please see attached documents). If You need any further information or have any other questions concerning this matter, Please contact (Insert Company where employed, Contact Person in Human Resources, their address, their phone number and/or The Company and all their information that took over also).​

Pleasey and Thanksy uncle. Turns out my start date is the day the company bought out the one I work for. My last day of work was the day of accident in July 2014, no phone call, contact, or letter but they let me go in the middle of November ( I found out yesterday) but they also direct deposited money in my account in March 2015 for unknown reasons. After two hours of calls yesterday I was able to get a one time "key" for a third party company that will verify for me(going to try it today then get another key for insurance). On a lighter note,,, the reason I am no longer working is because of a car accident while working, and the insurance refused to pay any of my medical because I was "at work" at the time, yet they are now wanting proof I was working. Pretty close to getting a lawyer but I doubt it will be worth it.

I've had to deal with WC before. What a nightmare! My case dragged out for years and I'm still not 100%.

Even though my attorney got 30% of almost nothing, hiring him was the best thing for my sanity and that makes everyone crazy! I only wish I'd hired him sooner because I would have had the best surgeon earlier and would have only had to have one surgery, instead of two. I'd probably be 100%.

I am happy to share more with you, just not publicly. Please PM me if you want to chat, vent, etc.

...well...in the short time I've met you ..I can say with certainty ...YOU ARE NOT A NOBODY ...You're smart with a good thinkin head in that noggin .
Please consider devising an emergency preparedness plan for the "unthinkables" . The Life you save may be a total strangers ...or a beloved friend.
(My lil bro built his own concrete shelter in his basement ...fits 3 and a cat and dog...course he's in Tornado Alley, MO.)

I believe a general rule is to drive at a 90* angle AWAY from the path of the Tornado ..if possible..... but AWAY is better than nuthin
@mac63 A tornado came up thru the Indianapolis Beltway a few years back ....tossed semis around like they were toy trucks. Glad I wasn't there at the time. Be careful out there.

...nope...not gonna try to talk you out of it.
I would hope you will join up with a local outfit and get trained up proper tho. Read too many stories that end badly when folks underestimate Mother Nature ...and yes, those twisters don't often do it, but they can change direction quickly....like on a dime.
@Fuzzy Thunderbear (....I have tried to name you Thunderhead ...due to your meteorological background ...instead of "bear" since you got here .... ) Interested to hear your sageness on the subject of tornado behavior.
