Kinda slow here today. Guess everyone is asleep or at work. Unfortunately, I am the latter. Still no heat, but the repair guy is here. Thank goodness, the temp is dipping into the 30s in here now. These 2 little electric heaters aren't really doing much for the place, especially when the front door has like a half inch gap in it.

@Uncle wow...that's alot of effort and activity going on for this inspection ...it sounds very stressful. (I have only barracks inspections to reference)
Well, hopefully that inspector will just breeeeeeeeeze right by ya ....:rolleyes: ...and you'll have a freshly painted apartment to enjoy :thumb:

Actually, it seems like it is just like a "Barracks Inspection" at times, remember I live in a Senior Apartment Complex that is also government subsidized . . . SO - Although normally in these situations - when Home inspections are done the government the inspectors must make an appointment, but it seems they do not have to do that here since there are 270 Apartments . . . Anyway, the major inspections happen once a year and you have no choice if they come or don't come (mandatory even if you are not there) . . . It is done randomly and they may or may not show up, since they already provided 24 hours notice over a week ago . . . Also, remember that last year the Management changed the "House Rules" and banned not only smoking in apartments (years ago) they banned smoking anywhere on the property . . . AND - they slipped in a ban on the use of "ecig's" in apartment/property, the burning of incense/candles/etc. too . . . Besides that - here they use the cheapest paint they can get away with . . . So - After 5 years, this place NEEDED to be painted . . . Which I would normally do when I move into an apartment, but wasn't sure I would be staying - so I held off until now since it looks as though I will need to stay here . . . Hey "My" Mother lived here for over 20 years (and I lived with her here as her caretaker for 4 years) until she died 8 years ago (No - Thankfully not the same apartment, I live in one 2 doors over :facepalm: ) and right now it looks like I may have to do the same . . . ;) :lol: :lol: :lol:

Okay - Guess it is time to check out some of the other ECF neighborhoods too . . .

Good morning, everyone.

@CountBoredom ...hafta agree that I could only listen to that ".......ized"version of "Dreams" once or twice, 'fore it grated on the nerves and gave me a headache .....:eek:
What I was searching for ...but failed to find ...was a memory ...1978 ...and the bass from that stereo was so deep and so loud ....it was shakin' the walls ... BOOM-ba BOOM Ba_BOOM..Ba_BOOM! Da-da-Da-da-Daaaaaaaaa:)
I fully understand, Katz. I got into a Miami Vice music groove the other day--listened to a bunch of Jan Hammer and then went youtube hunting for a bunch of rare non-Jan songs from the show.

Repair guy got the heat working again, but its gonna take time to warm up in here. It does feel a little better, but still cold.
Hallelujah! If it hadn't been fixed, I was goin' to suggest they close the office down for unsafe work conditions.

@Uncle - We have the same rule where I live. As long as any paraphernalia was out of site upon inspection, how would management know someone was actively vaping in their apartment?

@rangerrobin I could have lived with that too. At least I work for a company now that cares about their employees. If it couldn't have been fixed today, we would have been sent home paid for the day. At my old job, if something like that happened, we stayed open and suffered through it.

YEP - Absolutely correct, however although illegal they can and will enter Your apartment when and if they deem it is a necessity (Will even go through closets and your "Stuff" if you are not there :mad: ) . . . They try to intimidate everyone here to keep control over everyone . . . AND - I can't tell Ya' how many of the "older" people are scared and worried about getting into trouble and being thrown out (They even did it with "My" mother and are trying to do the same with "Me" too) . . . BTW: I am not "hiding" anything (even though most of the "Stuff" I have is in a closet anyway), especially given that the Property manager (as she is called now) knew I was using an "eCg" when I moved in and she even wanted me to tell others about it before the new rule was inserted into the house rules (BTW: Which was done because of the Florida Free Peoples insistence) . . . Matter of fact, there was a problem once - when during their supposed monthly maintenance (Spying :mad: ) they said they smelled smoke in "My" apartment, and as I mentioned to them at the time - they would have to actually walk-in without notice (which of course is illegal and the pretext of it being an emergency ain't gonna work, especially since I now have a security camera hooked up because they entered "My" apartment without notice a few times already) and physically catch me "Vaping"/"Smoking"/Burning Candles-Incense to prove anything number one . . . AND - For another thing, given that I meditate (Yea - I meditate 2 a day . . .:facepalm: ) and do "Smudging" with sage/tobacco to purify "Myself" & Apartment for "Spiritual/Religious/Faith" reasons . . . Plus - On top of that, after 40+ years as a smoker unless they wanted to pay to have everything I own (Furniture/Wood/Wicker/Books/Art Work-Paintings/Clothing/etc.) "Cleaned" and/or replaced, including "De-smoking" all the memorabilia I have - They will always smell "Smoke" . . . The funny thing is, given that I have COPD - I could always just get a new nebuliser and fill that with "E-Liquid" to vape . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

@Roadtrip635 - Yum, I love Catfish! :drool:

Although I said I wasn't going to buy anything special with my lottery winnings, I've recently become preoccupied with the desire to try squonking. So, after some research and browsing the classies, I bought a 6 month old Reo and botton fed atty! :cool:
Which means, I'll still have quite a bit left for bills. ;)

I knew you couldn't resist getting some vape goodie with some of that lottery money. ;)
Squonkers are kinda cool, I've seen some beautiful wooden ones. I'd love to get one of those, but they are pricey.

@Uncle - :shock:
Since you know it is against the law for them to enter your unit without at least 24hrs notice, what did you do when they did?!

Indeed, but I did buy it used. So, if it turns out not to be for me, I believe I can recoup what I paid for it, since they appear to hold their value. :2cool:

It's funny how we can talk ourselves into buying stuff. :lol: What's gonna really end up happening is, you're gonna love it and want to get another! Squonk! Squonk! :p
Funny, that's what all the squonkers say! Are you a squonker? ;)

Wrote formal letter to them telling them to cease & desist without proper 24 hour notice and since then they have not entered without one . . . Also, I keep very good records and with a security camera set-up and a notice in the window that there are security cameras in use - they haven't entered without "Me" here . . . Also, I keep pretty decent records just in case they enter again or we ever go to court . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

BTW: In Florida - Landlords have the State Legislator/Judges behind them all the way, especially given that most of them are the same (State Legislator/Judges) and they wrote the laws . . . :mad:

The worse part of this all, I use to be the Program Director about Tenant's Rights of a Tenant's Rights Group up North . . . "My" Staff and I not only helped Tenants to get affordable decent safe housing and learn what their rights were . . . "We" formed Tenant's Right's Group (especially for HUD Housing) . . . AND - I cannot get anywhere around here with any of the other tenants given how scared they are - even the Legal Aid Group is very reluctant to get involved with something given the laws as they are written . . . :( :censored:

I have been around here with Uncle and all those issues.....I am fearful for the same thing happening around here....they have just put the "no smoking" rule in effect....and I fear that if they can add e-cigs to that, they will.....granted not many people know I vape....I tried to get my downstairs neighbor to try it....and that didn't go over well (but he has moved since that time).....(he had other issues)....I keep to myself about it all and most of my stuff is out of sight and I would prepare for a visit by putting everything away (just in case)......so I totally understand what you are saying Uncle....
Blue, you're early! I'm not planning on leaving for another couple of hours! :ohmy: :laugh:
Haha.....so my evil plan worked.....I got up early today....

I don't have a squonker yet, but eventually I'm sure I will. I really like the idea and simplicity of them, but I know myself well enough that if I get one, I'll want another. lol...

I am sure that is something I would never be interested in.....I used my Puck mod for so many years and was doing alright with it......I would sure hate to change anything I have going on now.....although I did look into it awhile ago..because it looked like fun......I do enjoy a good dripping atty still.....on my puck to test new flavors...
