Don't have that. Got a sat dish that has 8or 9 base run channels - usually not much worth watching. And have 5 Japanese broadcast channels - 2 are PBS type. The 3 network channels are what I watch most of the time.

Oh yeah...I remember AFN. Luckily, I only had to deal with while I was deployed. And that was really only in the DFAC.

yep, AFN - don't ya just love their commercials/info spots:facepalm:
They got a ok cable service on base - used to be ok anyway. Can get different things in town but I'm too cheap to pay for it as the broadcast stuff is usually good enough.

The worst is watching the Superbowl...with no proper commercials.

Still have HR people that can't read and trying to do weird stuff - had to give them another kick in the rear today - I'd rather use a 2x4 upside their head (wouldn't do much good but I'd feel good about it).

Might try going to bed early tonight - unless something good is on TV.
I sure wish I'd gone to bed early...

Here is something to think about.....I heard this week that they are not teaching students (here in WA anyway) cursive writing anymore(reading & writing)....there was a little story about some official who handed her grandson a list & some money to pick up somethings at the store....he replied "Grandma, I can't read this....it's not printed"......she did some investigation and found this information out....so I was wondering if anyone else knows about this....
The worst part I am thinking is that that means they won't be able to read the US CONSTITUTION.....not to mention any letters from you, your parents or your grandparents......

I am really shocked that they think it's alright.....after pondering this for a day or so I see that it really is like a foreign language...but then why not at least teach them to read it....???

I went through all that as a kid and I think it is still worth while to teach. Personally, I stopped writing in cursive in high school, couldn't read my own notes. It was fine when I have time, but trying to write quickly while taking notes, it got ugly quick....lol.
I used to know a guy that spent a little time incarcerated and he supplemented his prison "income" by writing letters for other inmates. Oddly enough, he had beautiful handwriting and other inmates that couldn't write or had illegible handwriting, paid him.

Good morning everyone. I lay down for a nap yesterday afternoon and went through a series of fever dreams. I'm up now--but I'm worn out.
Are you sick or did you just dream that you were?

Time for me to roll...

Have a great day, everyone!

PIF to @angelphyre for missing yesterday
AFN doesn't play proper commercials during anything. They play a mix of different popular shows from different networks, so I'm not sure where they get their funding, but it isn't from advertisements. Instead of commercials they have various military info spots they use to fill the breaks. Things like quitting tobacco, various forms of abuse, basically just anything pertaining to common problems in the military. Here are a few if you're so inclined to check them out. I would save it for a day when you're really bored, though.

Good morning everyone. So, just curious, what do they play during super bowl commercial breaks on AFN?

Sounds like some boring stuff @greasegizzard I think I will take your word on it and skip watching it. Sucks for those deployed or stationed at a base somewhere, cause sometimes the commercials are better than the game itself.

Boss just left a little while ago. She popped in for a surprise visit, so I had to disappear from the thread for a bit. All good now though.
