OK, so I was supposed to be gone all day with monthly shopping, but there seems to be this blizzard going on in and all around the Black Hills. Three of the cities I have to stop in are getting lots of snow, so I just bagged it and I'll do it all tomorrow when the storm is gone and the roads are clear. Oh well...

See the Colorado River down there? From where I was standing to take this picture, it is about 4,500 feet down to that river.

Darn it all....I would like even 1 day of snow......but alas it's been slowly warming up......last night I slept with just a sheet....
I hope you have enough food for the animals...they don't understand that you can't go shopping....

I looked at the weather picture last night (just in case) and said to myself, "That 2.5" they predict for us just ain't gonna happen. This whole thing is going to go south of us." So when I got up and saw that we had no snow here, I felt good. Forgot, however, that everywhere I shop is ... uh, yeah, south of us. But, I never allow the animal feed to run out completely. Always get a little extra for "just in case" situations like this. They'll be OK even if I delayed this for several more days.

It's a matter of perspective and judging distances... See those tiny "bushes" on the right side of the picture? Those are actually the same size "trees" as what you see at the upper left, and those are 10-15' tall. Does that give you a different "feel" for the size of the Grand Canyon?

I figured you always had enough for them.........what happened to the fuzzy weather prediction? you didn't know you were going to get any snow?

But that was the fuzzy weather prediction - that I/we would not be getting any of the forecasted snow. But, as I also said, I forgot to remember that them getting it south of here was going to adversely affect my trip. Oh well...

Those are some sweet pics! I've never been out west other than LA and Vegas and neither were sight seeing trips. Maybe someday!

@glassmanoak Curious if this idea would be OK... I know we are a family, but you are also a business that needs more NEW customers. I noticed the other day that the latest member of ECF is posted by user name. Would it be OK for each of us to tag one of them and invite them to this contest thread? Seems like a reasonable way to increase potential business without it being you that is doing solicitations... Feedback?

I don't see why this wouldn't be OK. The worst thing to happen would a moderator doesn't like it and takes it down. I don't see anything wrong.

On the personal front, I'm in a rehab hospital and about a week removed from the pharmsutically induced hallucinations I had. Awful !!!

Getting stronger every day ! I truly believe all the energy and prayers helped me survive this less than 5% situation. 5% Amazing !!!!!

In any case, I'm getting stronger and clearer every day so I expect to be here another ten to twelve days. Then home to get new prostheses fitted, then back here to learn how to walk. I've a slight advantage cause I've been here before.

Wish me luck !!!!!

I think one of the issues with some of the newer ECF folks is that few of them know about the "Contests" thread (in the PIF forum), on which some of us post the contests we come across. There is a newer breed of ECFer who learned from the ECF-wide contests and just tag names into new contests. This has the benefit of letting their friends know about them, but leaves out any larger-audience broadcast. Subsequently, some contests run for a week or more (catering to the new crowd) before any mention is made on the Contest thread (if any is made at all...). Getting people back in the habit of checking (and posting to) the Contest thread will result in greater exposure for every vendor--including the Vape Tree (which is posted on a regular basis)--and make it more likely that people, even those who don't participate in contests, will learn about them.

While I have done a lot of touristy stuff, the pics of Grand Canyon are because I lived and worked in that national park for about 9 months.
