Really late getting on here today. Way too many other things to do...
No different than my friends and I running through the empty canyon behind my house. Rattlesnakes were one thing, but, once, we came upon an unexploded WW2-era military shell. After reporting it, we and all the neighbors were evacuated for a night while it was removed.
That brings back tons of memories I hadn't thought about in ages... as kids, we did all the things that today are thought of as "deadly." Racing up and down canyons... crossing creeks/rivers without bridges... walking across railroad trestles on the beams under the tracks (no guard rails to hold on to and we were 50-100 feet above the ground)... climbing trees in the forest with no adult within miles to save us if we fell... No lawn mower had a warning label about keeping your feet out from under the deck - it was just assumed no one would be that stupid. Ladders did not need warning labels to tell you not to stand it on frozen horse crap (seriously, someone a few years ago sued a ladder company for not warning him the ladder would fall over when the crap thawed)... we did all the dangerous things and no one I knew every got killed. Yes, we had sprained ankles and bruises... if ya didn't, ya weren't playing hard enough! But we all also accepted that whatever we did to hurt ourselves was our own fault, not someone else's. Today, Children Services is taking your kids away from you if they find you let them play in your own back yard without constant supervision. My, how things have changed... and I think THAT is what is wrong with our country today... Sigh. I wish I could go back to THEN instead of being stuck in NOW... (well, OK, only if we had vape gear back in 1960...) ;)

@Mandikay I understand the hot and miss I work in steel tubing plant. One week were all fired up and going and then the next we are not or its waiting on material to be drawn and sent through the channels to us in the finish department and I get the joy of straigtening tube tht look like a big truck ran into. Some nights are long and not very productive. Well gotta jump and go to work now. Hope all have a good day.

We didn't really know what it was, so we left it. My dad overheard us talking about it when we got back home and asked us to show it to him. Then he called the police. I don't know what would have happened had my Dad not heard about it. It was away from the trails we usually played on, so it might have been forgotten until some unwitting construction worker stumbled on it when the bulldozed the area for a new house.

Ya'll probably saved someone's life. You're right, some guy woulda probably found that shell, the hard way, clearing the land. Kinda scary to think about.

NCAA stands for National Collegiate Athletic Association. The college basketball National Championship game was last night. It was a great game throughout and one of the most epic finishes ever. One for the ages!

Aha, so NCAA is college sports at a high level. Hmm, time to look for a site that streams these games o_O
I always wonder why the popular USA sports aren't that popular here. Over here it's all soccer and biking.

The NBA, professional level basketball, is becoming more popular around the world, especially with more and more foreign born players entering the league. The NBA team I root for, the San Antonio Spurs have had many. Right now, they have a couple French, Australian, Argentinian, Serbian, the assistant coach is Italian, he was a 4-time Euroleague champion. Last year's team also included a Canadian, Brazilian, another Italian, New Zealand.

It will never surpass soccer, but it's gaining popularity, especially in countries with kinsmen playing professionally.

:wub::wub:No orange here........ hard to remember the whole thing. I did let him know all of his employees are not happy including his son in law and future son in law. He did say sorry for basically belittling me, and sorry I did it to your workers, and.... I am not sure, then you need to think about it more. I was calm all the way until I brought up one point for me "I am slow?" what? I am slow? You need snow? SLOW I spelled it for him, and put my hands folded on my folder looking at him, well, the longer he delayed the more I turned to him. He tried to give an excuse, tore it up quick.....

4/5 - 3: I hope you know I am not ranting, I am fine. Remembered a good one though; reminding him how long I have actually worked for him and "Yes employees talk." He starts thinking about it, who told me he said I was slow. Was it? He asked. Hmmmmmm. I respond, he starts to think again, sorry fella I have heard it from three. He thinks he has it and his eyes start to close and I can see the fire light up. "Your not thinking about punishing an employee for speaking to me are you?" Color left his face and softly no.

That stuff about the WW II boom booms was part of every day life in Okinawa. Have personally seen a 'few' there. Last summer they found a 250 pounder less than half a km from my house. We were just outside the evac area for the removal process but the only road in/out was closed for a couple hours.
Seen lots of the stuff when I was in Peleliu (part of Palau).

Got approved for the rental house today and put down the deposit to lock it in. Went back to the office and found the movers had called and sent an email - the first shipment is here. Trying to get in touch with them to set up delivery for Friday.
Lots of money been going out this week and gonna be lots more going as I continue to get set up.
