When my wife and I got married, we picked a pastor (kinda at random) and told him that shorter vows were better--in fact, if it had been up to us, they would have consisted of, "Do you?" "I do." "Do you?" "I do." ... and we'd be done. Of course, we realized that everyone else expected a little more, but he got the idea. For us, it was more about having friends and family and everybody Wang Chung-ing that night.
