6/15 - 2: Howdy all, Zipslack I am sorry to hear your wife is scared. However that is the goal of terrorists to terrorize and make scared. To stay away and not go out in the world is to say they win. I know that is far from the truth, but.......... Ranger you know you will be on my mind.

Oh Fuzzy getting all philosophical,
BUT... Tell me (all of you; not just the Blue lady), what is a young person's favorite entertainment today (BESIDES facebook or other social media, which is already teaching them to NOT think for themselves)? Video games?

Well you answered it, the video games. More and more "realistic" the imagery is actually amazing, and soon they believe it will look just like the world, you will wear a full helmet with a video screen for you to view, peripheral and all; the world turns if you turn your head. With full body suits you will "feel" being shot. So living in the video games soon. Yup and they are shoot em up's. Zombie's die by the hoards............. The story modes of course have you take out many people...... Get excited by the game and have fun, gets boring. You need more stimuli, so you make games that kill more, and make it more graphic. Just like singers, come out good young innocent someone, then turns rebellious and starts to cuss to keep the people excited and not get bored.

And still prayers for all those......

6/15 - 3: Then you can think of how each person for the most part does not care to die, and most even have ways they would prefer not to do so by. Video games right? Feel rolling over because of the suit? And think looks just like the real world. You are using your hands on the controller. It looks like the real world, so the people do as well. In the game you would be shooting an image of a real human, or stabbing them, and other bad things. It would all look real, and they would feel it. Hmmm know think of that, with say things ECF does not allow. Things people take, that are illegal.

And you know I care......

Kinda like I said before, almost all the movies put out today (yes, even those aimed at children) are full of violence and profanity. To me, it seems like they are trying to teach everyone that you should cuss a lot, then kill somebody. BUT... Tell me (all of you; not just the Blue lady), what is a young person's favorite entertainment today (BESIDES facebook or other social media, which is already teaching them to NOT think for themselves)? Video games? I have not seen even one "popular" video game on the market (I, personally, truly lost interest back in the PacMan days) that does not involve getting your points by killing your opponent, or at the very least, blowing up some aliens or monsters. In other words, if you want to win, you have to kill. THAT is what the younger generations are being programmed to believe. And, what made this attitude? Do you think PacMan (which even back that far involved eating the bad guys) would even sell on today's market? There are no young people that want to play such a boring game. They want tons of action and computer graphics, the easiest of which seems to be extreme violence. Sigh...
I can think of several video games that are not about killing people (or crushing them, or any sort of violence whatsoever), but they are far and few between. The problem with video games is that in order to appeal to a broad audience, they have to be simplified: the broader the audience you wish to reach, the simpler things have to be (Minecraft is the exception, but--even there--a "story" was added that included killing monsters). Put people in front of a city-building game and most people will be either confused or bored; but put them in front of a first-person-shooter (essentially handing them a rifle and launching enemies at them) and they quickly grasp the concept.

But this concept holds true for just about everything. Movies that are linear and have a clear definition of good vs. evil are more popular than those that are thought-provoking and ambiguous. Cop shows (in a variety of formats) have, and continue to be, one of the most popular genres of television show. Even in our politics, it is easier to convey a message of "us" (the politician and all "correct"-thinking people) versus "them" ( different race, nationality, religion, sexual preference, people who hate children, etc.) than it is to preach the practice of applying common sense to a world that is not just varying shades of gray, but filled with an array of every color that exists. The fact is that simplicity is safe and easy and does not ask for more effort than making the single choice: win or lose. And for those who have no patience (and children are inherently impatient--just watch a hungry toddler), simple fits the bill to a tee.

Okay... end lecture. :)

Mom and I went to a gas station/store that was the biggest I've ever seen, 92 gas pumps for cars and the store had a ton of Texas stuff in it. It had what looked like a deli counter but it was a jerkey counter.
I guess there is some truth to the saying that they build things bigger in Texas...

Went to Wally World on the way home and I got enough to make 5 or 6 meals for supper this week so I know Mom will eat while I'm here.

Squirting a little gas in the carb did the trick. First 2 times it fired but only ran for a second or two. Third time it kept going and started right up every time after that. Just needed the vacuum to pull fuel all the way thru the system. Have to swap the headlight and do a couple other things so it's set up to ride on the roads here instead of the left side like I've done for the last ten years (that's just on the bike - lot longer overall).
