They have just seen so many protests turn violent on TV that they think the same will happen here. Hopefully everything will stay peaceful.

yes. I believe you and I and others here are from "the peaceful generation" ...I was just a kid ..too young to understand ...when the Kent State shootings took place in my home state. So I got leery of authority figures early on... I am totally with the MLKJ message ... of peaceful change ...but mobs scare people ...specially angry ones...notice I did not say violent and lootings burning gatherings. As the song goes..there's a time for turning plowshares into swords ... an angry mod can bring attention to things that are not right ...such as the Act Up riots during the Bad Days of AIDS when the sick and dying were being ignored by pharmaceutical companies and politicians who could have helped so many people... I was still pretty young even then ..pick your battles wisely. A protest can be angry and not violent.

Good morning, everyone. Twin friends of my daughter will be descending on us early this morning because their mother has a dentist appointment. Three 11-year-old girls and one 8-year-old boy all running around the house at 8 am. Makes me almost wish that I actually liked coffee...

Morning, folks.

Still researching the Dallas shootings to separate the BS/fluff from the facts. Am I correct that somebody used a rally to specifically target police? If so, that could end in new laws and regulations concerning public meetings and demonstrations (what Constitutional right?). And of course, more gun control laws (because most criminals use legally purchased and licensed firearms). Or maybe it won't be a big deal because it's just police officers. Idiots already hitting social media praising the shooter.
