Angel stood 5'8" slender build, blonde straight hair, with a little curl, blue eyes, very lovely features of the face. Her eyes and smile would capture your attention quickly, she wanted to go out for the weekend but her car was down. Her son had come over for the whole day Saturday to help get the parts needed and to change them out. She had gone out many times to check on him and give him water, tea, whatever he wanted.
Angel cleaned what dishes she had, washed her clothes, cleaned around the house, taking up time. She took a big ice cold glass of water with her as she exited the front door, her two dogs ran outside with her. "Come on." she said to them, the two followed her out to the car, her son was just getting up from under the hood. He stood 6'1" brown hair, that was curlier than Angel's, broad shoulders, and a very healthy 190 pounds.
John turned his face towards his mother, his features were very nice, like an actor's, but covered in dirt, grim, oil, he said. "Hey mom." with excitement, and smiling. He had his hands still on the car, Angel walked closer to the car. "Here is a glass of water for you." Her son got up quickly from the car and turned, he automatically started to hug her. His arms would have easily gone around her, and Angel quickly shouted. "No, you will not young man, your hands are very dirty."
He stopped his hug and stood straight up, he said while taking the glass. "You are correct mother, thank you." He took a long drink of the water, more than half of the glass. He took the glass away from his mouth and set it down on the battery of the car. He turned quickly and kissed Angel on the cheek, she backed away fast. "Your face is dirty as well, uh." She had started to back away, and stopped. "I love you to."
He smiled and turned towards the car, he pointed at things as he spoke. "Okay, so instead of charging the battery, I bought you a new one, the alternator is changed out and new, the starter looks like it was changed by someone else before you bought the car, and is fairly new. Looks like you should be good to go, well you know." he stopped and stopped pointing. "What?" asked Angel. John stood up, and said. "Oh nothing, the car is kind of old, the transmission could go." He stood there a second and his eyes lit up. "Oh, no that is not what I meant, I mean you have probably a good year before you have a problem."
Angel watched him the whole time. "I saw it." John lowered his shoulders just a little, his shirt soaked. "Stop." Angel's eyes grew bigger. "Oh my gosh, what is it?" John picked the glass up from the battery and drank the rest of the water, with his right hand, and closed the lid with his left. After he swallowed the water, he said. "You always do this mother, stop it." Angel stood taller, the dogs came a little closer to her than he, and she said. "I saw the twitch above your left eye, you are trying to hide something."
"Dang it mom! stop it! I was going to.." he stopped, and knew. Angel watched his movements and listened to the words, and it hit her. "What is it? Are you in trouble? Is someone hurt?" He stopped moving, and looked straight at her. "I was going to tell you anyway mother, but you always want to try to pry it out. Why can't you just let me tell you?"
Angel stood firmly and said. "Then just tell me." John stood in front of her, and said. "Is it the Louisiana heat that is killing you?" Angel stopped and looked straight into his eyes, she looked and did not blink, her son blinked before she did. When Angel blinked, her eyes squinted just a little, and then back up slightly quickly, her facial expressions changed from looking almost
through him, to a sudden question and shock.
John sighed loudly and stood a little taller. "You see, always mother, and I was going to tell you anyway. We are pregnant." He stood there waiting for Angel's response, he knew she watched every detail, the body language, and the words. Angel had been moving slightly back and stopped, she looked down a little. Her shoulders dropped just a little and then she lunged forward, not thinking, and hugged her son.
"Mother, your clothes!" he shouted as fast as he could, it was too late. Angel had come close and hugged him, with her arms all around. John decided he might as well, and put his arms around his mother and soiled the back side as well. "Oh, is it a boy or a girl?" Angel started to ask
through tears. "We do not know yet, mother. It is too early to try to figure that out yet." Angel kept hugging on to her son, and asked. "Do you have an expected due date, or an idea of the conception date?" John heard this and stopped hugging, and pushed back away from her slowly, while stating. "Whoa... mother!?!" Angel's face went from a smile to a critic, as she said. "Oh please, like I did not have you."
Her son looked at her for a second, she did not move. He was starting to get nervous, as he watched and moved a little back and left, he stopped and stood there. Angel looked at him, and finally let out a smile. Moments later John realized what he saw, and lunged forward, hugging Angel firmly. "Thank you mother." he said softly in her ear.
