Good morning to all.
Well good and bad news, we can drive in and out of our area with a truck now. But they are asking people to stay off the road as much as possible and only letting you back in with an ID with the address proving you live back here. Mainly because they are still rescuing alot of people in areas all around us. So we went and got plenty of supplies so we wouldn't have to go out again. But the bad news is we had to evacuate my mom to my sisters house in Baton Rouge last night. They are evacuating her little town because the river by them is having back flow (I hope I said that right, I'm pretty sure that's what they called it) well when my mom was leaving last night the water was already coming into her neighborhood. They said it would continue to rise until about 6am tomorrow morning. So I'm really hoping everything will be OK for her.
At work they are trying to find a way to maybe be able to reopen on Monday morning. They are working on a plan now, but it all just depends on the road, the Hwy is washed away to get there so I guess it all depends if we can find a way around it.

@glassmanoak I'm still sending positive energy your way. Did anyone ever here how he made it out through this? If it was mentioned before I must have missed it :/

Edit: Mandikay snuck that post in, glad you got to get supplies! Hope your mom is safe and it ends up okay. What a mess.

Okay okay I know I'm technically not supposed to be out driving unless I need supplies or it's an emergency but I Have vape mail waiting at the post office. They aren't delivering mail obviously but the post office is open it's in a little dry area and it says my stuff is ready for pickup so I'm going to take a little ride to the post office And come back home I I feel silly worrying about that but I'm running low on juice and I surely don't want to be stuck here with nothing. I'm just hoping the route from here to the post office is dry enough for me to make it there fingers crossed

8/17 - 1: You said it well enough for everyone to get it @Mandikay super glad to hear you have supplies, hope your family can get together. Weird how we talk about so many doing the same thing on this thread. Wonder as people read what you have and are going through, have they thought of alternative ways to cook? Ovens and Microwaves use electricity, not good when it is out. A grill? Shoot even the little charcoal starter kits, can be used as a small cooker.... Again glad to hear some positive news, and yes getting out of the house is therapeutic, just wish it was not summer. Okay crawling back into bed, have the Olympics on and going to finally try to finish that book, probably fall asleep a few times.

Good Morning Treefam!
I have been up for a while now. Had my coffee. Been to the garden and watered. Took most of the basil plants to the garden with me and planted them there. I didn't want to have to go and buy another bag of potting soil. Came home and planted the last 5 in pots and I am done. ..Finally.
Got to go an visit my mom now. Got a message from my cousin last night she is not doing so well. Hospice has been called in.
I am glad to hear things are looking up for you @Mandikay !

@diabolique sending some positive energy to you and your mom.

My little escape didn't work to well, I tried the first route and had to turn around because the road was so flooded they were launching boats in the middle of the street, then on the second route,which is the way we got out yesterday, I sat in traffic for a while and then noticed people turning around, at first I thought they just didn't feel like sitting in the traffic but someone rolled the window down and told us the road is closed again so I turned around and headed back home, I had to pull over several times to let rescue vehicles and people bringing in boats down the road. Then I thought about it and I really should just stay off the road because every time I have to pull over to let them pass that's another few seconds someone is waiting to be rescued. So home I shall stay.
I just wanted to tell everyone thank you for being so supportive and for just giving me this little hangout in my time of need. It makes me still feel connected to the outside world. What a great little family we have here

8/17 - 3: Okay just getting to be too much again. Sorry diabolique..... Morning Blue. At least you got out of the house for a little bit Mandi. Heard my neighbor pull up to get supplies, they do construction. Have a ride at the end of the day to go replace my phone. With that I can start to call many people I need to and that will ease a lot of my stress. So just have to stay calm to the end of the day. Never know how much you need a phone or to contact people if just like Mandi stuck on their island, and here with no car, I am on mine. One phone call I am sure that should have been taken today, would have been with the mechanic to say "Yes" whatever it costs do it. Then I should have my vehicle by next Monday or Tuesday was his guesstimate.......

Quick lunch check in. The UPS delivery wasn't as bad as expected so that's fine with me! Had a little lunch and now a vape break.

@Mandikay Too bad you couldn't get to the post office but at least you got out a bit.
