Office was fairly mellow today right up til the final hour when it went nuts - managed to get things taken care of and leave on time.

@KatzWh1skers wow I never thought about that.. But you have my wheels a turning now lol.. I am so bored with my job.. Concrete isn't really my thing lol.. Not to mention from what I just saw posted in the online news, hwy 190, which is the road I work on is completely washed away. I'm not sure how the plant looks because I haven't seen pictures of it yet but everything I have seen close in the area is under about 8 feet of water :/
David's work is under water too.. As a matter of fact the online news said 90% of homes and businesses in Denham Springs are under water. It's a sad time around here. But I know we will make it :)
I hope you all are enjoying your day. Thanks for all the positive vibes and energy. It is much appreciated.

My perfect job would be somewhere on a beach drinking margaritas...
That's exactly the answer I gave when I was asked in elementary school what I wanted to do when I grew up! I got a lot of stern looks.

@Mandikay, any word on when they'll finally get to responding to your little island (hey, Tiggs, I smell a spin-off!)?

:D... right there with ya,sister..right there with you :D

Well, I'll kinda get my dream job in a few years when the bf officially retires...his plans are for us to open a little beachside bar in Florida...so I can have my margaritas on the beach after all! :p:laugh:

@Mandikay - yeah I've heard that too about 90% of the houses being under water...I have a girlfriend who lives in Denham Springs and she was lucky that she only got a little water in 2 of her rooms, but she has so many friends whose houses are totally under water.

@CountBoredom no news yet, my mom lives right outside of Baton Rouge and she saw on the news earlier that they finally got federal help coming into Denham Springs today, we are at the very back end of Denham Springs closer to port Vincent so not sure how long it will take them to get back here. But the governor said they are expected to be rescuing people for another 5-7 days. Honestly since we have electricity we should be OK if we could just get supplies into us. I totally get that the people on roofs and in attics and so forth are the main priority right now but if they could just get Red Cross or someone to at least get some supplies in that would be great. And maybe get the people with medical conditions out because there are no doctors on our little "island" but we do have 2 police officers that got stuck in with us that have been helping as much as they can. They even delivered a baby the night before last. Well with the help of a medical student at the shelter.
We are pulling out the DVD collection and about to watch some movies since we have electricity, kinda keep our minds off things and keep the kiddos occupied for a while.. Hopefully anyway lol

@Mandikay Wow, glad you're still above water. That just sounds like a mess. :-(

Home from work here and had some dinner. Rain comes and goes today. Mostly just light showers. It's ironic.. we could use an overnight rain. It's pretty dry here.

Going to head out soon. Maybe a walk, maybe just a car ride. I'm tired of this week and it's only Tuesday.

Hope everyone has a decent evening. Catch ya later.

@Mandikay glad you all are still safe.
I cannot imagine the amount of water in the flooded areas. I can look at the pictures but cannot fathom being in it.
But it sounds like the people around you are pulling together to help each other.

The main street I take getting home was closed. Don't know why - there were several fire trucks.
So it was a convoluted route to get home but such a minor inconvenience compared to what others are going through.

A safe and peaceful evening to all and good vibes to everyone.

Good Evening Treefam!
I'v been busy transplanting basil plants all day, I still have about 30 more to go.
Sending healing thoughts and vibes to all that need it.
@Mandikay I am glad to hear you have power and water. I pray your family is out of that situation soon.
Hope everyone else had a good day.
