E. 1. 3.
Jaki and Ted sat down at the Good Karma Cafe, Jaki ordered herself another coffee and a breakfast sandwich, Ted ordered a sandwich and decided a coffee sounded good as well. They sat sipping the coffee, Jaki holding her cup in both hands for the warmth. "Have you ever seen anything like this before?" asked Jaki. "In all my years, I have not. I have read about things like this, and..." Ted paused and made sure no one was around to hear, he continued. "Well with her arm missing and her neck possibly being bitten, I would think seriously deranged, or and this is a big or, we might have a serial killer."
Jaki looked at him a little shocked, the waiter was coming over with their sandwiches, hot and steaming. "Thank you." Said Ted. Jaki had an egg and ham sandwich, Ted went for a bacon, egg, and ham. "How can you say serial killer? There is nothing to support such an idea, and there is only one body. Serial killers take many victims, so are you saying there is more than one person who has been killed this way? And if this is the first body, how can you be sure?" asked Jaki after the waiter left them and was far enough away.
"Her arm was missing, and possibly by being chewed off, including part of her neck. Albert Hamilton Fish, was a serial killer that ate his victims, so did Edward Gein, though he only killed two, but the crimes were so gruesome, he became well known. And then who could forget Jeffrey Dahmer, all ate part of their victims. They were into necrophilia, very twisted minds, but very smart, very smart." Ted answered.
"How can you say they are so smart, if they are so murderous? Smart people are doctors, lawyers, business owners." replied Jaki. "Think of it this way. How smart do you have to be, to commit so many crimes, murders, and get away with it for so long? That takes a lot of planning, to commit the crime, and to get away with it." said Ted. "True enough, but we have nothing that leads us in that direction." responded Jaki back.
There was a ring in Ted's jacket, and he reached his hand in and pulled out his phone. He looked at the name and said. "It's Frank, just a second." Ted swiped his phone and turned it on, and swiped again to answer, putting the phone to his ear he said. "Hey Frank, what do you have?..... You did? Where? Really that close?..... Uh huh.... okay we will be right over in a few. Okay....... Bye." Jaki was eating her sandwich and after swallowing asked. "Well what is it?" Ted responded. "They think they may have found the car, it has been parked in the same place all night long, and was getting ticketed."
"Well let's go." said Jaki. "No, we can wait a few minutes, I want a few bites while it is still hot and while sitting, not driving." Jaki let Ted take
three or four bites as she still ate a little, she took a sip of her coffee, and said. "Okay enough time, let's get going." Jaki stood up and went to the register. "Could we get two to go bags please?" "Yes maim." said the man and gave her two, and a cup holder. "Thank you." said Jaki. "You are welcome Jaki, and come back soon." The waiter said with a warm smile. She looked back at him with a look of don't even try.
Jaki walked back to the table. "Here, take it with you." She took her sandwich and placed it in the bag, and grabbed some napkins as well. "Fine." Ted responded and took another bite, a very big bite before putting his sandwich in his bag. "Let's go." The two went to the door and Ted opened it for Jaki, the cold air flowed into the warm restaurant. "It feels colder now than it did this morning, are we supposed to get a big storm?" asked Jaki as she started to race towards the 2015 Ford Police Interceptor. There were no markings, and it was blacked out, the emergency lights just above the bumper in the grill and hood. Well hidden until used.
"I have no idea, do not really watch the news, but it does feel cooler." replied Ted as he got behind the wheel. They both put on their seatbelts, and Ted put the key in the ignition and started the vehicle. They arrived back at the park, and went down Parkside Ave., they could see Frank standing outside, and a cop car pulled over to the side of the road.
Ted turned off the car, and they both exited the vehicle. As they walked up Frank said. "What took you so long?" Ted looked at Frank, but Jaki replied quickly. "We were caught up in traffic." Frank nodded half agreeing, and pulled the bag with the keys out of his jacket. "We believe this may be the vehicle that we are looking for." He opened the bag and held it out to the two of them. "Has this been checked for blood, fingerprints or any other evidence yet?" asked Ted. "No, not yet." answered Frank.
Jaki stuck her hands in her jacket and pulled out two rubber gloves, she put them on her hands. "Well you certainly come prepared, detective Grimes." said Frank. "When you are investigating a murder, it is usually good to have some handy." she said back looking at him with an eyebrow down. She took the keys by the chains, and gently took the edges of the car key. She pushed the key into the lock and turned, it was harder holding the edges, to not smudge the flat side of the key.
The key finally turned and Jaki placed her right hand on the door handle and tried it, the door opened. "Looks like we have the right car, have the plates been run yet?" asked Jaki. "No, not yet, we were waiting for you two to show up and see if this was the right car first, we will get right on it." Frank walked back to the police car to tell the policewoman to call in the license plate.
Jaki looked into the car, and saw nothing, she reached in and opened the glove box. "Got it." She reached her hand in and pulled out a purse. Jaki backed out of the car a 2002 Honda Accord, and placed the purse on top. Frank was coming back when Jaki was starting to open the purse, and pulled out a small wallet. She looked and said out loud. "Suzy Fields, 3180 Master St. Wait that is not too far from here, is it?" Ted thought for a minute and said. "I think your right, just that way." He pointed to his right to the west.
"Well, let's get going. Frank have an officer meet us over at the location, we are going to take the keys to enter the building." Jaki said as she took the keys out gently and put them back into the bag. "Will do." replied Frank. "Good job Frank." said Ted as they walked back to the car. "No problem guys, take care." said Frank as the two got back into the police car. Ted placed the keys back in the ignition, as Jaki said. "Wow, she was only 26, such a young age. What a shame."
