That's nice @liblue1 Anything extra helps!

Staying slow and drinking coffee. Trying to research a new phone. Always been an Android person but completely frustrated with lack of notifications, etc and no information from Google that I can find on why a security update killed it. Can't believe I'm looking at iPhones as iOS is so much more difficult than Android but if it works...

Hope everyone is having a good day. Catch ya later.

@liblue1 i hear ya. I'm an Android guy at heart but I'm just frustrated and fed up they can't seem to keep it working. I think the devices have just got too... fragmented and allowing the device developers to muck around and buckling to carrier wants has pretty well ruined the experience imo.

@mac63 Ooohhhhhh.... A flamethrower! I want one too!

Time to leave W for the day. Managed to not do much. Catch y'all later.

Morning Treefam...I'm really dragging today. Yesterday was such a long day, and I didn't get back until almost 11 last night. Had a great time with the family, but the driving was another story. Horrible weather on the way up and the rain didn't stop in time, so had to watch for spots of ice on the way back...we're in the deep south here, shouldn't have to be doing that! :glare:

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning, everyone. Got caught up watching football yesterday (I don't know what I'll do if my team leaves, so I might as well enjoy it while I can), and then just stayed on the couch...

Yep, I'm hoping that now that I got my son interested in Bond, we can go back to some of the classics..!

As far as phones go, I, too, am looking at phones--but not for me (I'm sticking with my Google Nexus). I need to find a phone for my mom--but it has to be the "dumbest" phone around, since she doesn't really want anything else. The problem is that it has to be AT&T because of the reception at the AL facility and all they really advertise online are their smartphones unless I go with a pre-paid Go-Phone--and I don't know how that will work if my mom wants to call family in Europe.... Guess I need to walk into a store.

I hope you can find something count....I have used Virgin Mobile for years (like 13 years)...and they seem to be downsizing...but their phone lines are still very good....(FYI I found a LG K3 for $30 at radioshack last week...it's small but works good so far....)

With that I have to get ready for my appointment...so maybe one more post before I leave....

It would be easier if I could look at other services--but only AT&T seems to work in the box canyon where the facility is located (keeps it quiet for the residents, but not profitable for building cell towers). Either that or I look at a slightly more expensive land line. Well, that's my research project for the day.

There had to be some company that "Piggy Backs" on ATT.....maybe trying to find out who that is might lead you to a solution......With that I am really off to get ready now.....

One Word - "JItterBug" (Health Apps, Cell Phones for Seniors, Medical Alert | GreatCall - 25% OFF) . . . Comes as a flip phone or a "dumb-down" smart phone . . . AND - they use a sim card which is needed for AT&T (which by the way AT&T had them available for quite some time, but no longer do). The company is based in San Diego, CA and Basking Ridge, NJ and provide service throughout the USA or via other service providers at very reasonable prices - highly recommended by AARP too (More info here at AARP - Search) . . .
mobile1.gif

(BTW: Check out Metro and some of the other lesser known providers for some deals they "piggyback" off the others If it absolutely MUST be AT&T check here: Simple Phones, Tablets and Devices for Seniors they even have one that works with 2 AA Batteries)

Just sayin' . . .

Thanks, @Uncle. I did, indeed, look at Jitterbug (for all the reasons you mentioned), but it was unclear which carrier service they use. If it is AT&T, that may be an option. I'm also going to look at the cable company, as my mom had phone through the cable company. If I can simply transfer the service (AND phone number) that would be easiest, but--again--it is unclear online whether or not this would work.
