11/29 - 3: I was going to say see you on the flip side this morning but the computer crashed as I was starting to type. So on my way to work, I take the highway for a little while. They are doing construction there that should have been done 20 years ago, such a deadly on ramp. Guess when they are done, they will finally work on the other side.
Anyway so I get over to the side road of the highway as they are doing construction and it is reduced from two lanes to one for all the machinery and supplies. I am going along my way, ever cautious for the workers, one walked right in front of me two weeks ago without looking. Had I not been he was hurt badly or a goner.
This morning I am watching the road and side roads like normal, just in time I see an SUV and what looks to be a boyfriend or husband saying goodbye to his sweetheart. He waves and gives the all clear, I hit my brakes hard and everything moves forward. I stopped maybe some eight inches from t-boning her; no idea if there were kids as the windows were tinted. I do not think she ever saw me, but the man sure saw my "What the
!"
That has been
three nears in the last year. I have always wanted to be rich enough for a Humvee, then anyone could be that careless and I would survive. Sigh.
...And got good news this afternoon...turns out all this time I was between jobs has become a paid vacation...my old boss just sent me a message that she had just mailed me a check for the work I did on one of our BP settlement cases...I had figured since I had left there I'd never see any of that, but she actually stayed true to her word and paid me my share.
