TIOA Sns9 eps 46: Abby stood and looked at the man on the ground and then around the area, the buildings gone, and the fires dimming; she spotted on in which some had not fully burned and went forward grabbing her bow. Abby went close to the building and peered
through the wood and spaces burned away. Across the way looked to be a chest made of wood smoldering but still standing. Abby went around to the back, not towards where the door was facing the inside of the town. She crossed carefully over some of the embers, the heat on her ankles and she moved fast.
After she got away from the heat, she slowed again and went to the chest, she grabbed slowly at the latch and it was hot to the touch, she grabbed a part of her coat and lifted the latch with her hand, then with both after laying the bow on the ground she lifted the lid. There were jars inside with lids and she took the first out and laid it on the ground taking off the lid. Oil of some time, she dipped her finger in, it was warm from the fire, and smelt it and tasted. Olive she thought.
She took another jar out and took off the lid, red in appearance and more solid, she brought the jar to her nose, and sniffed. A cherry jam or jelly, she laid it back down and replaced the lid. There were many jars and she had no way to carry them, Runner had satchels on his sides and she needed that. She thought for a moment and got up after taking her bow.
Abby moved forward thinking of where Runner would be after all her movement, he would be in the front and a little to the right. Abby went forward to what was the front door, as she went out. "Ionnsaigh!" the big man shoved her to the ground his weight heavy on her. Abby dropped her bow in the sudden attack, the man worked for her arms as she fought back, she could feel him trying to pin her legs with his. "Hmm" she said out and took a deep breath pushing his arms away and legs.
The big man worked fast and moved up closer on top of her, he let her legs go free in the back, and was trying to spin her over to have her back face him. Abby fought with him, her hands fast and she got her right free and scratched his face, taking skin. He felt the pain and slapped her across the face. Abby yelled out. "No!", she took her arms and hands and fought back as the man started to move onto her chest and placed all of his weight on her. She breathed in hard and fast, she fought his arms but he was so heavy.
The man moved his right leg up and moved her arm to the side and pinned it with his leg, she struggled with her right as he held it with one hand. "No!" Abby shouted again, she struggled and the man smiled down at her little blood droplets coming down his face. Her left arm was pinned by his leg and she pinched with her fingers at him to cause pain, she kicked with her legs but they were too far away to do more than nudge him. "No, no...." she started to cry as she fought with one arm. The man sat on top off her all his weight coming down, she was having trouble breathing and felt terror.
Abby could not breath well and felt him taking her arm down though she fought as hard as she could, the man was so much stronger. Abby tried to squirm, his weight too much and she felt more pinned. "Stop...." she said as her last arm was taken down. The man moved his leg over and her arms were pinned. He smiled down at her and went to his pockets, he withdrew a small blade and rope. Abby looked at him as he sat up straight still smiling.
The hoof of Runner hit the man square in the side of the head, he fell back, the horse went forward and looked, he placed his leg between Abby's legs to not hurt her, and kicked the man again. He dropped the blade and rope and turned over. Runner moved forward and Abby moved away. Runner went up and brought both legs down on the man, he screamed in pain, and the horse turned. The man got up feeling the pain and looked as Runner was facing away looking at him, his hind legs kicked the chest of the man and he felt his ribs break.
The man was kicked back and fell to the ground, the pain intense, he moved slowly across the ground and felt something more tender tugging at him. The man turned and Abby was over him with his own blade, she thrust it into his neck, she looked him in the eye as she removed the blade and he tried for air. Abby continued to watch him and sat on top of him blood spurted and she continued to sit on top of him as his life left his body until it went limp. Abby let the blade fall to the ground, she did not want it. She stood and felt the warm breath of Runner on her neck, he came closer and placed his head on her right shoulder and she reached around and rubbed it. "Thank you." Runner lowered his head slightly so she could feel it and brought it back up.
Abby took the reins and led Runner back toward the pots, she was very tired and slow. Runner felt it and followed easily, she did not have to pull he went with her. Abby let go and grabbed the first small jars and put them in the side totes, Runner waited. Abby took them all and placed them in the totes of both sides. She went over to the side of Runner and waited a moment still tired. Abby finally tried up and hard to pull hard on Runner instead of getting up light and Runner felt it.
Runner waited and let her on, he could feel her moving slower and knew something was wrong. "Runner to my boys." She moved him forward and to the direction they would be going, she laid down on his neck, Runner moved forward slow and careful, Abby held on softly.
