Well, considering that I am only 20...er... umm... 25, I don't remember any of that. They didn't have any of that in the... er... ummm... 40, minus 15... carry the one... ummm... 1986! Ya know, when I was born!

That only works for the Chinese. They are the best copiers out there!
Since this affects tube mods, maybe it is time to "reinvent" the tube. How about a mod that wraps around a large battery (like the 18650). Have the electronic at the top, a short side (with button), and a connection at the bottom for ground. Kind of like those single battery chargers that are out there, just thinner, and more wrapped around the battery.
Just a thought.
