Could be several things. The first things that come to mind is maybe the coils are too loose around the wick or maybe you have the wick/coil assembly pushed too far down and it's pinching the wick in the bottom of the slot.

You didn't mention what voltage you're using. That info might help if the above doesn't fix it.

If that's what is wrong you should be able to carefully reach in there with a bent paper clip or similar widget and lift the wick up on each side just a little.

Also, make sure that once you have the carto screwed onto you ego batt, that you have a small gap (maybe 1/32") between your ego and the bottom metal ban of the Stardust. I have learned that if you cram it back together too far and make it flush to the ego then the guts of the carto are then too high. This will cause the mouth piece to push down too hard on the cup seal and pinch the wick.

Thanks for your help and all the tips vapspaz.

I built it with a double wick now and it works great!

Double wick cut short is how I've been doing them. Perfecto.

Also, after the wick is pushed down into place, use a flat jewelers screwdriver or similar implement and push down the silicone seal that is under the coil a bit after reinstalling the positive post.

I don't have the supplies yet to try a rebuild but all your expertise might come in handy. I received some that were a little leaky and have been trying a bunch of fixes. One that worked was pulling up on the rubber piece and letting the tip push it back in place. Seems it can get pushed down too far and somehow cause juice to drip.

This fix didn't work on this fresh batch. After cleaning them I noticed the coil seems to be pushed down in the middle. It is practically touching the inner tube. Could this V in the middle be causing some juice to pool in the middle? Again, it does not begin to drip until it is being vaped. I'm thinking that as I vape juice is pulled in and then pools and the air dislodges it from the dip in the coil. I pulled one up but I won't know for sure as it still needs to dry for an hour or so. Any thoughts?

Could be that dip you describe. Of the ones I've rebuilt, all but one was due to over-wicking.

Cleaned the wife's last night for roughly the 3rd time or so, and afterward it started doing the same thing. It's had at least 30ml vaped thru it, so no complaints lol.

Other things I've had limited success with is like you, lift the cup, and kind of fluff up the wick outside the cup, and just not fill past halfway or so.

Might add, once rebuilt with stacked 2mm wick, this never happens again.

Hey Big D -
I'm liking the double wick ider you came up with myself. I just use my old fat wick E2's and cut the wick off each side of the old E2 cup and use both lengths without cutting them down any further. Have you found an advantage by snipping these double wicks down? I'm guessing you snip them approx. the same length of the original Stardust wick?

And lastly, what purpose does your last trick do by pushing down the silicone seal a little further?

BTW... I have a hell of a time getting that damn coil wire (negative?) to feed down along the side of the metal post and seal. Several times I get them back together and filled with juice before I notice the ground wire poking out a little where it got bunched up or worse where it pushed the last coil loop up away from the wick. Got any secrets?

I just too impatient. Anything I order now will probably not get here till next week. Any local sources for wire? Lowes or Home Depot maybe? I'm also thinking if I stopped at my smoker friendly shop for some ss mesh, it could use whatever I had on hand for wicking as it separates the coil from the wick.
All the wicking I cared to rob from old ce2s just fell apart in my hand last night. I made a wick out of old inner dense filler material and it actually works well but I don't think it would stand up to a lr version.....

I know I'm over my head here but you guys are making it really easy for me, thanks. Excuse my impatience too. I just want to make one now....

I find that they wick better cut short. There is no bend for the juice to navigate. Just a straight shot to the coil. Although for a thin juice like 100%PG, I can see where it may be advantageous to keep them longer if you find it still too wet.

If you don't push the silicone ring down that makes the positive contact, it lays right up against, or very close to the coil. Burning silicone taste and blocked airway if that happens.

Know what you mean about that ground wire. Like shoving a noodle up a mules back side.

Wrapping stacked wicks is a pain. If you want to really get a headache, try tying in some no resistance wire for the contacts. I've made a couple like this so that the resistance wire begins on the wick. That eliminates the area of coil that is between the wick and the contact points. Makes it so there is no heated wire away from the wick.

One of these days, I'm going to put together a holder of some sort to make wrapping wicks easier. I'd love to see some idea's for this. My big ole fingers suck at wrapping lol.

Hmmm... That could explain some of the "off" taste I get sometimes after I do a recoil. Thanks for that tip. I should have thought of that myself.

Wrapping the wicks I don't have any trouble with. I just use a needle, stack my wicks on top while holding one end of the un-cut wire and just wrap them good and tight. Once I slide the needle out I tweak the shape a little and snip the wires to length.

As for a holder maybe a couple of wood boards separated by what ever distance you want and then string a length of 32ga wire tight from one side to the other. Then you could keep both hands free to hold and wrap the wicks. idk... just a hair brain thought.

Thanks again for the tip.

...

I know that in my rush to try Re-Wicking, I didn't Burn Off my Nichrome 60 and it tasted Horrible. Un Vape-able Bad.

I was going to retry it thiss weekend and after I wrap the Wire around the Wick, I'm going to pass Eveything over the Burner on a Gas Stove.

Then Wre Gloves to put it all back together.

I did the same thing on my first one. lol I learned quick to take a torch to the wire before assembly.

Now the glove thing.... ummm... nope. lol I have a hard enough time as it is, I can't imagine how hard it would be with gloves on. Besides, I don't mind tasting my finger oils for a few hits. :D

Hey guys,

just did 2 recoils, first one was 2.0 ohm second was 1.9 ohm. On both I get burnt taste, the second one didn't seem to wick at all. I used the 2mm CE2 type wicks for odysseus and .16 Nichrome wire. On both I made the wicks longer than the original.
For one thing go to slightly higher ohms. There is really no one-size-fits all when it comes to ohms and watts. These CE2 types are different than let's say a 510/306.
