Hope I hanv't damaged it, Perseas will be telling me off.

I'm pretty sure you can use whatever polish you want on the body tubes. Brasso, Flitz, Simichrome, Sunshine cloths, buffing compound (oil based/water based), silicone polishing discs, sharkhide, cape cod, lemon juice, ketchup, etc... (Yes, i have tried them all). Its just important to use a cloth WITHOUT knapp if you don't want swirl marks. Just don't use abrasives on the gold-plated parts. (Sunshine cloths are excellent but don't apply too much pressure) and WASH the parts with dish soap before, during, and after any polishing job.

Thanks, I did all of the above but didn't wash after the brasso just used a cloth to polish it off. Should I have washed the brasso off before polishing it ?

Hello guys. I see there are a lot of regulars here so excuse my budging in. I just saw the piccolo/spheroid combo a few days ago and never knew there was such a nice 14500 mech + rebuildable combo out there with great user feedback. This would be my going-out mod due to it's sleek elegance, less conspicuous size, and good reputation. I'm so glad I caught it right around the time of a batch release.

Now from what I understood from perseas' advance update thread this will be the last piccolo batch, so for sure I'm going to try to get one (this is my first venture in purchasing a high-end, high-demand, low-supply mech mod). I don't know if I'll be able to afford both the spheroid and piccolo in one shot or how fast GP product batches fly off the shelves after release times, so will there be other spheroid batches and about how long does it usually take? About how long would I have a piccolo (if I manage to grab one) without a spheroid?

You're washing the brasso off but you're also washing away any contaminants and dirt that remain on the surface. You don't wax a car before you wash it, it needs to be cleaned. Brasso is a polish, not a cleaner.

Hell of a match today btw.

Thanks for the suggestion - I just bought some on eBay. There's no reason I can't use these on everything, right?

They make yellow (brass, gold) and blue (stainless, platinum, palladium,etc...) but I use blue for everything. A good wash with dish soap and the cloth is pretty much all you need. Just make sure your mod is not sharing your pocket with loose change or keys :)

I don't take my Paps out of the house. I keep it stored in a cloth bag and I take it out at night and handle it delicately. If it put it in my pocket around the house, it gets the pocket all to itself.

Fantastic match yes.

I did wash everything with warm soapy water before the brasso but just rinsed the contacts separately with just warm water.

I just never washed the brasso off.

Well I always wash post-polish (not saying you have to) and finish with a optical lens cleaning wipe. The alcohol dries quickly and spot free :)

Then I'm confident the sunshine cloths will be all you need. :) Just don't use a circular motion. Place the sunshine cloth on a clean paper towel and a solid flat surface and rub back and forth in a straight line. This way, you can use the reverse side of sunshine cloth without worrying that you picked up any abrasives from the table surface.
