The v2.1 switch cannot stand upright without locking it, why do you want it?
About the GP Piccolo, initially we shall have only media blasted tubes, then other options will be available.

To keep certain mods 'period correct'. ie Both are extremely beautiful but you would not put 2013 Campagnolo on an 84 Cinelli Supercorsa. :)

I like the texture on the locking ring. Also, for standing the mod, I use two springs which makes the 2.1 switch stiff enough to stand without locking.

Hmm, our effort from v1 is to make a button which doesn't need much pressure, all the other mods I know follow a different approach.
The knurling on the lock ring of v1, v2, v2.1 is more a visual reminder of the need to lock the button than a real function.
In version 2.5 we use calibrated threads, the turn of the lock ring becomes buttery smooth and the need is less from the moment we put 4 minuscule ridges on the edges of the lock ring. The lock ring is now an extra safety feature, I don't use mine all the time, even in my pocket.
Everything we put as a characteristic has a degree of functionality, when its need is lesser, as now with the added ridges, we remove it. More is less :)

I know 2.5 switch will be better. I look forward to using it on the lux next week. I know 2.5 is the evolution of paps and will be better in many ways. I guess I'm a sentimental guy...I like the classics. If I had my way, I would luv to see you guys bring back the v1 tubes. Anyhow, it's understandable if you don't bring back 2.1. I'm just glad I have one. Thanks for the information.

I too love that 'texture'. The fine diamond knurls make the switch section classy and stylish. I admire it irrevocably - and desired the same design (textured knurls) on the PAP's top cap as well. I can only imagine how lovely it'd look... a shiny tube with knurls at both ends! Uh, it'd only remain in my imaginations as Perseas has moved on...

IMHO, the 2.5 switch is a big step forward. I have three 2.1 switches I'll trade for 2.5's

I don't have any 2.5 switches other than the one that's coming with the lux next week and I'm keeping that one. Got a bunch of 2.1 tubes that need 2.1 switches. You want to sell me yours? No price gouging. :)

then I'd have no switches, if you get yourself some 2.5 ones though I will gladly swap with you.

I also love the old switches for the classic tubes. Some of you know I have failed the drunk test twice in as many days. I will also keep those period correct. Like Armirite, I am in the classifieds looking for more classic PAPS to buy.

BUT, I also think the new switch is gorgeous. The PAPS has evolved in many ways, form function and looks. All of us are impressed with the work that has been done to make the GP what it is today and what it will be tomorrow.

Personally, I think VapourArt should continue to move forward with visions of evolving the GP to the best device they can produce.
As much as I love the classic PAPS and will cherish the ones I have, I would like to sit back watch and be part of GP future.
I would rather see the classic retire and if at all, be released in limited special runs if at all, I feel it makes the ones I own that much more special.
Another fact is that it is time consuming and very expensive to set up equipment for different models.
Thank You Perseas for keeping us informed and hanging out with us brother.

Yes, this is an unengraved 350 LUX tube that, with Perseas' blessing, will receive the Bauhaus treatment from a local laser cutter. The threads are MUCH smoother than before. You can feel the difference immediately. Very excited for my LUX to arrive! :)

Anyone ever have trouble unscrewing the very bottom piece of their Spheriod? Seems like mine is JAMMED in there SUPER tight. I watched the videos on it, even bought a special tool for it (which only broke), and all I wound up doing was messing up the 510 threads and scratching the crap out of the tank. Now i've gotta try and file the threads back so it screws onto my ProVari..

Is there ever any reason to open this bottom part? Is there juice collecting in there that needs to be cleaned out? Is anyone else's IMPOSSIBLE to unscrew?

It's reverse threaded... Clockwise to loosen (when looking up from the bottom)
